Introduction:
I lived my life as a prisoner. I’ve always been told stories about the real world, but I haven’t seen it for myself. All I have ever known is pain. And darkness. They tell me I have been blind since birth. When I make my escape, I think freedom is finally within my grasp...Until I’m captured by the paranormal police for a murder I didn’t commit. Apparently, I have powers—powers I have always suspected myself of having.Normal people can’t see through other people’s eyes, right?Thrust into Nightmare Penitentiary, I meet a group of hard, alpha, psychotic inmates who believe I’m the answer to all their prayers. Me? I’m just trying to survive and figure out what it means to live. My new home isn’t just a prison, but a labyrinth with horrors around every corner. But what if the cost of my life is my freedom? Am I willing to trade one cage for another? Welcome to Nightmare Penitentiary where you come in handcuffs and leave in a body bag. This is NOT a bully romance. These men are all hardened...

DNF at 58%. I just couldn't anymore.

The plotting on this one is weird. Girl grows up in a compound being tortured her whole life (how old is she, btw?), but is somehow more wise than everyone around her. She is simultaneously super innocent and worldly - she misses obvious references and doesn't recognize basic language but then can pull out colloquialisms, obscure knowledge, and an extensive vocabulary. That kind of character inconsistency is maddening (just like the flinching, shy maid suddenly turning into a "wanton" woman in her words - how does she - the FMC - know that word, you ask? No idea, my friend. No idea.)

I didn't find the characters compelling either; I'm just not interested in finding out what the FMC is or how her relationships develop. The male POV chapters were letdowns for me as well; I'd much rather have the book in 3rd person omniscient then continuously read books where the characters' inner thoughts are just so horribly clichéd.

Finally, there was poor proofreading - words are misused or the wrong words are in sentences (for example, the one I somehow found most cringeworthy was talking about the FMC's nub but the author wrote numb).

Maybe this series is just not for me. I DNF'd the other Nightmare Penitentiary book I read as well. I'm dreading the forthcoming explosion of supernatural prison books, because prison is not sexy, and I think it is wrong to romanticize something that is horrific and traumatic for so many people in the real world.

Rating: 3.5 stars
Rounded to 4 because I may I have a weird fetish for blind characters.

Blindly Indicted is part of the Paranormal Prison series and a standalone.

While I would consider it a bit long for a one book story, it also felt quite rushed for the depth of the plot. Many parts were barely scratched and Blindly Indicted ended more as a slice of life than any kind of prison story you can think of.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book, some moments more than the others, some cute, some fun and some plain cringe worthy.
Because if Blindly Indicted does not shine in the plot department, it definitely ranks surprisingly well when it comes to its Mary Sue and the extreme harem worship going on in Nightmare Penitentiary.

Nina was innocent, weak and probably hit too many times in the head. Her way of thinking was just too fucked up by her never ending optimism and kindness to be anything but annoying in the end. Being a punching ball for a psychotic crazy bitch was seen as her strength and telling the cold murderous scary dude he was a good man made her an angel to her boyfriends.
It was kinda weird and not at all believable.

But here's the thing. I would probably have hated the story as it been written by anyone else. But Katie May, despite her annoying heroines and pet names, has a way to make her stories come alive and hook you from the very first sentence. Blindly Indicted will definitely not be my favorite read of the year, but I had a nice first lockdown day thanks to it.

> No MM
> No FF
> Who falls first? <input type="checkbox" class="spoiler__control" aria-label="The following text has been marked spoiler. 2.5 stars, rounded up.

I often struggle a lot with Katie May's writing; she has a very effusive, flowery style which is alright for the heroine but extremely offputting when I'm in the heroes' POVs. This is one of the only books by her I've managed to finish.

That's a shame, because the premises always sound AMAZING and this one is no different. Nina is a blind girl who can see through other people's eyes; she's sentenced to prison for a murder she didn't commit, where she reunites with her childhood sweetheart and his gang.

One thing that did annoy me is that May's obviously torn about whether to leave this as a standalone or not. It's marketed as one, but there are a lot of loose ends in the ending - not least the fact that by the end, NINA STILL HASN'T HAD SEX WITH A MEMBER OF HER HAREM. What the hell.

I probably wouldn't read the sequel if there does end up being one, but it was alright.

[Blog] - [Bookstagram]

So. I'm gonna call it a 3.5 rounded up from the laughs it gave me.

It was a Mary Sue situation 200%, also there is no planned 2nd book from my understanding and it does finish with things left with loose ends. There was also some issues that some RH have when there's a lot of dudes, which is there's just not enough pages to really feel out the relationships with everyone and sometimes people vanish into the background.

I had fun though, not a fan of the ending since it just...felt sooo unfinished. Not a true happy ending, more like a happy for now. The characters made me laugh at times and each were distinctly unique. There was also a lot of cute shit and I live for that.

I only dock points for the ending, a bit of the frustrating mary sue at times but not many, and not enough pages ;)

I would be pretty happy if there was a 2nd book written though since there was just...so much left unanswered for. like getting rid of the compound, getting out of the labyrinth, how the fuck are they getting shit into the labyrinth if no one knows where the exit is, some people offed, and maybe a real happy ending. That doesn't always happen though in real life. But it'd be nice to see the story conclude more happily.

Get it here:
Amazon US * Amazon UK

I did really enjoy this story and all of the characters but I also wish some things had been explained with a little more detail. The world could get confusing at times and made it hard to focus on the actual romances going on.

It was so nice! I’m impressed by how fun this book was despite the heavy moments and past flashbacks ( be mindful of the TW) Whenever I expected a scene to be predictable, the author use a reverse uno card on me haha! I was kept on the edge of my seat and I didn’t even saw the time fly! I’ll gladly read more books by this author because I find myself really vibing with her sense of humor, which usually always don’t appeal to me in books, but here I was laughing so much!
The characters are really well written as well and the plot is slow and complex but it was exactly my cup of tea 4 ⭐️!

Another one bites the dust!!! This book has to be the loonnnngggesstr fucking book in this series... so far 400+ pages ill be honest i dont think it should have been this long.. maybe like 300? But lord it was long. With tons of drama and medium steam.

Nina had a horrible life she was abused, torture shot everything you can think of in this secert compound also i forgot to mention shes blind.. but she has a power for her to see through others eyes.. so she 50/50 blind in my eyes, but she escapes only to be framed for killing someone.

Now she's in Nightmare Penitentiary shes already attacked but saved by a "cat" and is reunited with someone from her past. Now the tension is high since Blade aka Kia is top Dog in this yard along with his Prison gang. Bronson is already head over heels since shes his mate and the other guys feel some sorta connection to her but Damine and Cain do take a step back since they know shes Kia and they all want her Abel is flirty but keeping his guard up. Now they have to protect their girl in this place.

I do love all the guys Abel and Rion are the funish crazy guys, Damine & Cain are the serious ill murder you, Bronson and Kia are the love stuck puppies that are dangerous. As for Nina she was alittle navie and skittish since she was in the compound which is understandable, we also have the mystery in who sent her their.

Ill be honest i was alittle disappointed there was no group sex.. with 6 supernatural guys and not no group sex? Booo!!! Also felt bad that Abel didnt get to have sex with her. :(

Low angst, Slight ow drama, no cheating, slight secondary charas, Drama, sexy times, no virgins

Recommend- maybe
Cover-⭐⭐⭐

Slowish-insta
Pinning
Torture
Violence
Seperation 2 months
Mentions of Sexually assaulted
Abused
Disability
MFMMMMM
Sharing
HFN
