Born to be Mine is the third book in The Alpha God series. I can not do other than be ridiculously enthusiastic about this series. It just keeps getting better and better. If you have not read the other books in the series: go back to the first book and start reading there. I truly think that your reading experience will be best if you've read the other books first.
Also, you need to know about omegaverse and gp content. It is a kink that you will love, or not, haha. For me it works, I think it is smoking hot!

When you start reading this book, make sure you are alone and/or have your lover within reach. Because the first chapters of this book will make you so hot you'll risk ending up a pile of ashes. Beside smoking hot sex scenes, this book is about so much more. Luthor has built a world of her own and I for one never knew I would enjoy reading sci-fi so much. In this book, for instance, a locke is introduced as a character. I for one feel instant love for this red-eyed, fox-like animal and want to know where this is going the next book. With introducing this animal we not only learned more about wildlife on Kander but also about the people and how (some of them) treat the wildlife. It's these details that make you experience the world Luthor build for us readers.

I also loved reading about the effects of being in a rut had on the alpha god. The love she is developing for Charlie is clearly making her old identity as Sumner and her now being the alpha god mix together. Sumner the alpha seems to come and peek through the shell of the alpha god more and more and I'm curious what the future will bring.
The time spent in space is shorter than in the first two books, the tempo of de storyline reads nice and quick. It's exciting to read about the upcoming alien invasion of the sworne and while reading about them it even made me a bit nervous for the future books.

Thank you, again Luthor for a great read. Please hurry up with finishing book 4 in the Alpha God Series. And kudos to May Dawney's cover design, love it!

The throne scene. That’s it. That’s the review.

Are you heckin' kidding me with that ending! Again? I don't even have any more in the series and a TBR pile as long as my arm (not to mention the books I actually should be writing). Gah!

Although, this is really good argument for why folx wait to start reading series until there are several books available.

All right, disrespectful cliffhangers aside, this book is a terrific addition to the story with further development of our characters, good guys and bad.

What I've been waiting to talk about with regard to this series is POWER, who has it? Who doesn't? And who thinks they do, but they're wrong (Hint: Kal)

In an Omegaverse story, or put more simply Dominant/Submissive, there is typically a pretty obvious 'top' and 'bottom'. Kal is very obviously the more powerful/dominant with regard to status, physical presence and strength, and is sexually dominant.

Charlie is physically smaller, has little status (on Kander, anyway) and quite happily submissive in the bedroom, bathroom, exercise room, throne room....

BUT...Charlie is by far emotionally stronger and this, as far as I'm concerned gives her ALL the POWER. When the series begins Kal, by nature of her status as High Commander, is somewhat of an emotionless robot. It's Charlie's presence in her life, by just being herself, that brings Kal to 'life'.
(It actually reminds me a little of Xena and Gabrielle. Lexa and Clarke reminded of me of Xena and Gabrielle, too, so that tracks.)

Kal, thus far, has the more dramatic character arc because of their relationship. Time will tell if that changes. (I swear, on my honor, I'm not reading another book until I read TWO others first.)

Anyhoo, I don't need to get too deep into the weeds about relationship power dynamics. My point is, I just really appreciate the nuance to this in the series. There are even starting to be a couple of mentions of Kal recognizing Charlie's 'alpha' qualities. It's nice.

Meanwhile, any author who can drop Aliens and Avengers references into their story is a friend of mine.

4.5 stars. Really these books are awesome. Sometimes you just want to read something different, plus there is never enough good WLW sci-fi material out there, and this series just delivers on both fronts. These books need to be read in order and as stated in my previous reviews of the series, this is an omegaverse series with g!p content and is probably not everybody’s cup of tea, so check Luthor’s blog for more info and see for yourself whether this is for you.

In book two the romance between Kal and Charlie develops, but due to Kal’s status as Alpha god a relationship is not allowed and even dangerous. However, they can’t deny each other, so they have to be careful and find a way to be together and determine who to trust. I really enjoyed the deepening of their emotional bond, and even though Charlie, as a human, has less primal instincts than Kal, you feel the strong almost supernatural bond between them. Ow, and did I mention the extremely hot sex? Well yes, there is that too again, so definitely not safe for work!

In book two an introduction was made into the spiritual side of the Kalmar, which is continued in this book and I hope to see even more of it in book 4. And, as in the previous books, there are two storylines, one is the romance and the other is the story that started with the kidnapping of an Omega, which turned out to be part of a much bigger plot. This storyline continues to build with plenty of action and I just can’t wait to see how it continues. There is definitely great danger coming their way.

I also liked the bigger role for Andren and the return of Starr (I hope to see one of those 2 get their own storyline) and Raine is just really funny with her new suit. Additionally, some Kander wildlife is introduced in the form of a Locke (a sort of wolf-fox hybrid with white eyes that turn red or yellow), they’re fantastic!

And then there is the cliffhanger…….so annoying because now I have to wait for book 4.

Omg omg omg that ending!! Shiii!! Poor Charlie. She has a real bad habit of crashing into Kander lmfao Hope they are all alright.
This was by far my favorite book of the series. We got to see way more of Charlie and Sumner/Kal’s relationship and it was just the cutest thing ever! And super hot too ? that scene in the throne room... hot damn ?
Can’t wait to read the next book!

I've decided the locke's name is Kumo which is Japanese for Cloud.

This was a pretty darn exciting addition to the series btw. I'm so happy I already have the next one.

Lexa Luthor keeps knockin' them outta the park and I keep running and running after that ball. Another fiver!

I am so happy I got bored one night after reading the same love story over and over from different authors. I craved something different, edgier, taboo almost, and 'Dancing in the Darkness' pulled me in by the cover alone. I had never heard of Omegaverse or g!p material. I knew I was in for something different, and I was not let down. Three books later and I still want, need, crave more from Kal the Alpha God and Charlie the ass kicking space junkie. The g!p, honestly, turns me on. I love the sex between Kal and Charlie, and I love that Kal is dominant but tender with Charlie, but isn't afraid to give Charlie what she so desires. Kal is the epitome of what I crave to read about. She's still a she with soft mounds of a woman with a hard body wrapped around them, a feminine voice, long hair, but has one part between her legs that is sometimes frowned upon in the lesfic community, even if it's synthetic. Kal also has strength that no human woman could ever have, and that's arousing to me. I want more of Kal and characters like her in future books from either Lexa Luthor or another.

We were left on a painful, painful cliff hanger in the second book... poor Kal. I eagerly awaited for the third book because I couldn't wait to see what would happen inside that cabin. I was not disappointed, however, I wished for something specific to happen, but I also knew that if it did, then the story would have taken a different turn. I'm still holding out for hope that Kal and Charlie will someday become one. The way Luthor wrote their blossoming relationship, it looks to maybe headed in that direction. I love how Charlie's rough around the edges personality has slowly changed the Alpha God, she's lighter somehow, not as much as a hardass, but enough to be reminded that she could easily end anyone whoever decided to cross her. That's hot. I also love how Kal is changing Charlie, softening her up as well, even though Charlie won't come right out and admit that she's falling in love. I never knew I'd fall in love with a romantic/erotica sci-fi set in space on a different planet between an Alpha God with g!p and a human from planet earth, but I have, and I can't wait for more.

I was happy to see Starr again. I really like her and I was hoping for more of a storyline for her. Maybe in the future. I also have grown to like Andren, the Alpha's guard who was protecting Charlie. Raine made me laugh and her reactions towards certain things. The 'Iron Man suit' moment was a riot, and Luthor did an amazing job at depicting a vivid fight scene between Victor, Charlie and everyone else who was sent on that mission. And I can't forget the stow-away locke that followed Charlie around like a puppy dog. Utterly adorable.

My most favourite thing about this whole series is the instant connection and attraction between Charlie and Kal. I adore love that elicits such visceral reactions where you have to be next to your one and only, protecting them, loving them, touching them. Otherwise you feel your lungs will squeeze shut and you'll die if you can't be near them. Some readers will find that whole "Alpha-dominant-protector-I'll-end-you-if-you-touch-what's-mine" thing abusive, immature, and wrong. I, for one, love a dominant who protects and cherishes what's theirs. It's such a turn-on when one possesses the other in a non-abusive way.

Applause to Lexa Luthor for writing characters who don't conform to the norm. That's my thing, reading and writing characters who don't fit inside a box, and I am huge supporter of anyone who thinks the same way. This is a series that will definitely be read again and again by moi. Can't wait for the fourth in September.... fack, 5 months away... *pouts*

I love the continued development of Charlie and Kal’s relationship. Andren is quickly becoming another favorite character of mine. It’s always fun when you get Charlie, Raine and Andren together. I can’t wait to see where the next one takes the amazing characters!

Third book of this series and even more enjoyable than the first two as we get to know Charlie and Kal better. Charlie is a tough, smart, and beautiful human woman overwhelmingly attracted to the powerful Kal, Alpha leader of her planet. The lovers face prejudice, off-world interference, and the threat of galactic war in their bid to find happiness together.

I tried reading the book in small broken up sessions in an effort to savour the story and make it last longer... I couldn’t do it though. Lexa Luthor has crafted an engaging read that kept me captivated from page one to the end. I have a love/hate for cliffhanger endings, but am already looking forward to the next book in the series, “Collecting Stars”.
