Unhealthy obsession with 80's movies. Dryer than a gin martini. Drive that makes Tony Robbins look like a slacker. 4 out of 5 stars!

"I don’t get why you think whatever’s in here can be fixed by another person, in a moment.”

My first Piper Lawson read and I believe one more push and I am off to read her entire book backlist!!! ??

I loooved the hero in this story and how he completely nerds out with his geneticist skills. Nerd heroes are definitely my kink. Shame-free. This was such a feel good, make-you-tear-a-little kind of read with an opposites attract trope.

The characters in this story were very much distinct and impressively written. In the industry of countless romance authors with rephrased/reused/rebranded tropes, Piper Lawson will definitely give you something new! I recommend (especially y'all adorable dork-loving book junkies)!

PLOT

Dr. Wes Robinson, 29 years old, has achieved a lot of prestigious awards with regards to his brainiac-self, producing impressive research studies around correlations between Cancer and the human genome, the human DNA.

With his research, he founded an idea to build an app that would match people base on their DNA and his collected data has been promising and is off to a great start.

He just needs someone to greatly market his idea and pitch it to someone who would be willing to fund him.

Now, we have Rena, to do that. As a marketing employee, she wants to boost herself to her boss by succeeding in helping Dr. Wes.

But not before this un-delightful misinterpretation by Rena, thinking a meeting with Dr. Wes was a date, which started good and ended with a kiss! If only Dr. Wes did not meant for it to be a business arrangement. The two decided to move past the slight mishap and agreed to work together.

In a stereotypical viewpoint, Dr. Wes was the nerd guy, and these type of guys doesn't really go with ladies such as Rena, who is drop dead gorgeous and would definitely have a line of jocks and popular guys on her heel. Where Rena is a quirk, Wes was serious. But, no matter how opposite they may seem, they definitely can't "science" the enormous fact that they get along pretty well. What if DNA-base they match? What if they do not? No matter the scientific analysis of whether they match or not, they can never resist how drawn to each other they are.

Romantic, slow pace, funny, hero and heroine that connect right at the first encounter, a story that just leaves you with a huge smile on your face. I love Piper Lawson books and with this one is no different. I enjoyed it a lot and I highly recommend it.

Wow!! This book was such a pleasant surprise. It's the first book I've read by Piper Lawson and it was really enjoyable! I absolutely loved the chemistry between Wes and Rena. They started out with her awkwardly thinking they were being set up on a blind date when he was meeting up with her for business help. Then they moved from a business relationship to friendship to ...well...other things. They each bring different hangups into their evolving relationship. Rena always used sex as an escape from her life and ran from relationships as her parents had never been good relationship role models. Wes, the scientist, connected emotionally with sex and couldn't help but look for a relationship even when he didn't know he was. In the past, his research had been his prime focus and he had never taken the time for a true relationship so this was all new to him. Oh, and can we discuss the hot science geek?! Who could blame Rena for wanting a piece of that?

They had such cute banter, especially when they were texting. I also thought it was sweet that their relationship basically sneaks up on both of them. They each realize they have feelings for the other (more than they want to admit) but they keep trying to ignore them and push it all aside. Eventually, they have to address their emotions and the relationship they have developed without knowing it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

After reading the blurb, I didn’t know what intrigued me more, the fact that it was a slow burn story (I enjoy those) or the fact that it was about a hot nerd (I love them too) or the fact that the male character had created a DNA dating app!? There were enough things in the blurb to make me curious about this story.

‘Easy love’ is an easy to read story. Readers who have read the ‘Wicked’ series will recognize Rena, she’s Haley’s best friend. But if you haven’t read those books, don’t worry. You can absolutely read ‘Easy love’ without reading the other books first. The story is told in both POV’s.

I really loved the interaction/chemistry between Rena and Wesley. Rena was this social, intelligent, sassy girl and Wesley was a total nerd (very intelligent, obsessed with his science and not so social). Their views on love and relationships were totally different from each other but that made this story so very interesting. And it may be a slow burn romance but that didn’t mean that there weren’t a few hot scenes in it. I enjoyed this story.

My thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very well-written adult romance. Wes is an aspiring academic, looking for tenure at a good college when he meets Rena (whose father is on the board of directors of Baden College, where he currently teaches.) Rena is in marketing and helps Wes build a campaign for a new dating ap he designed. The road to true love is a rocky one, especially when Wes seems to be willing to set aside his feelings for a potential teaching position in a Seattle University, leaving any chance for a relationship with Rena behind. I enjoyed the excellent writing, and the realistic issues facing these two likeable characters. I rate this a 3.9 out of 5.

From the moment Rena lays eyes on Wesley, she’s itching to see what’s beneath his dry and very scientific exterior. When he asks her to help him launch his DNA dating app, she should say no. She’s a hot mess what with dropping the ball at work and dealing with her own family drama. But she can’t resist. The more she’s around him, the more he’s getting under her skin. They’re complete opposites yet she can’t help but wonder if they’re perfectly matched. If only Wes would tell her if her DNA matches his. . .

I’m a big fan of Piper Lawson and when I read the blurb, I knew I needed to read it. I begged, no pleaded, for an ARC and I won one. Score! Ladies and gentlemen, if you love romance, Easy Love is for you. Easy Love has a heroine with a pet skunk who thinks she’s got it made when it comes to love but upon closer inspection, hasn’t a clue. Then there’s a geeky hotter than hot hero who’s still reeling from the death of his father and trying to get his life back on track. Nothing easy there but Rena somehow makes his day a little brighter. Realistic characters like these two make this book worth reading. Hilarious dialogue with just the right amount of snark. Interesting plot twists and an ending to make your heart leap make Easy Love a must read for all romance fans!

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in the hopes I’d review it.

My Rating: 5 stars

Reviewed by: Mrs. N

This review first appeared: https://www.nnlightsbookheaven.com/si...
I should probably pimp this book here...

But this is not a ‘pimping’ book. It’s not that scene from Titanic (anyone else old enough?) where they’re standing, arms spread, on the front of the boat and the music crescendos and all I can think is ‘how is no one hurling into the Atlantic right now?!’

Three words to describe EASY LOVE (and yes, I wrote it): 1. Awkward. 2. Slow burn. 3. Real.

? For anyone who’s gone out with friends on a Saturday night and ended up going home with one of them? This is your book.

? For anyone who’s thought “I don’t know if I want to date this guy but I can’t get him out of my head…” This is your book.

? For anyone who’s thought “I’m a hot mess, maybe I if I just ignore this whole dating thing I’ll wake up at 35 in bed married to a Hemsworth so I have someone to do my taxes with?” This is your book.

Wes and Rena are messy and fumbling and sexy and real. If that is what you need today…

This is your book. Geek meets party girl. That was my first impression, but as with most things, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. Wesley Robinson loves his job. He lives his job. Science is his dream, and Rena Crawford is going to help him achieve it. With a DNA dating app of all things. An app that Rena happily tests, in the interest of research, to help her figure out the best way to market it, much to Wes’s chagrin. I mean why does it bother him so much. They have absolutely nothing in common (well apart for their mutual love of movies). Wes doesn’t do hook ups. Rena only does hook ups. Yet they have an instant chemistry, no matter how much they want to deny it. I loved Wes, he makes nerdy sexy. Rena and her twisted family add to the story. Everyone loves to hate a villain, and I think I found one in Rena’s dad. Why can’t some parents let their children live their own life? A quick, fun, sexy and addictive read. Great characters, great writing (dual POV), and a great story. I’m looking forward to more in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
I received an ARC of this to read. My first ARC ever!! I was so excited. I think, though, that I was supposed to have this review in sooner. Insert hand on face emoji here.

See, the problem was that I was already reading a book when Lawson sent me the ARC. It was a really good book, too. BUT I decided to take a pause on Travesty by PIPER LAWSON (yes, I was in the midst of reading her back log) to start Easy Love.

I didn't realize it was Rena's story. I looooved the Good Girl series, so when the opportunity for an ARC of Lawson's new book came about I just signed up. I never in a million years thought I'd actually get one. Blogs get ARCs. Other authors get ARCs. Well known reviewers in the indie romance world get ARCs. Not little ole me. I went into the book blind and became ridiculously excited when Scrunchie made his first appearance

If you read anything I've reviewed lately, you will know that I read on the train to and from work each day. The following things happened while reading this book:

1. I missed my stop in the morning and was late to work because I was mid sex scene when (apparently) we stopped at my station.
2. I cried on the train. In public. Next to some lady playing games on her phone.
3. I had "stomach issues" as soon as I got to work today so I could finish reading this book in the bathroom... and cried a little bit more.

I loved getting more Rena. She was a solid side character in the Good Girl series, but you didn't really learn much about her background. Lawson created a full, rich backstory for her in Easy Love. She wasn't a thrown together character.

Wes, her love interest. It was clear who he was initially, but he felt dry. By 42%, I was laughing at his dry humor. I thought that was very crafty of Lawson. She brought two opposite people together in a way that not only made sense, but was non-traditionally romantic as fuck. She took two different people, who not only had different backgrounds but personalities as well, and she created a scenario where there was no way they could NOT fall in love. As well, the issue between them that made the relationship not work at one point was not over the top or overly mundane.

This book is about feelings. I don't know what the hell I'm feeling sometimes, thus I found it impressive that Lawson was able to create such believable feelings for our characters and articulate them so well.

The pace of the book was great. In general, Lawson does not drag out scenes unnecessarily. I could have used more, but only because I wanted to stay in Wes and Rena's world longer.

I will wrap up with something I've written before about Lawosn's books. She creates heroines who aren't stupid or naive, are strong but not brash, and have brains that rival their beauty. She brings scholastic topics into books in a way that makes me want to pursue higher education. That's what readers in the age group of her characters need--to know that smart is sexy and strength doesn't have to be bitchy.

Now, let's talk about Jax and Haley's wedding... Ms. Lawson, chop chop, honey. Mama needs the goods.

Lawson makes it easy to find humor in the moments that aren't always funny. Easy Love is a smartly written look at the embarrassing moments. Wes wants everything to be just right. What happens when the man with a plan encounters a glitch that could ruin it all? Rena is the disruption he couldn't have predicted. She throws every idea he has off course. Can the dreamer and the realist meet in the middle of the chaos? Sometimes we tend to forget that it's the imperfections of life that make our existence interesting. Easy Love uses a heartwarming tale and an unforgettable couple to make sure we don't forget.
