It all starts with the name of this third installment of the Tomb of Ashen Tears series. How perfect is it? Brilliantly so.<br /><br /><br />The tone, completely renewed, maybe less tormented than Famous Last Words',  surprised me. Clearly, the inspiration and creativity of Mrs Samuels knows no limit. Anticipation drove me crazy, as I kept wondering how things would turn out in this opus.<br /><br />The maddening pace rendered me breathless. Action dances with emotions in an incredible intensity. <br />Sensuality flirts with poetry. Add in the mix the most gruesome scenes then, you'll experience the magic of the author's universe.<br /><br />I smiled. I cried. I laughed, truly laughed. I feared for them, and was scared by them. I screamed as I got nervous. (And at the same time so excited!)<br /><br />As much as I wanted to rush into the story, starving for more, always more, I eventually ended up savoring, sipping every hint, information, revelation. Every word counts, nothing is left to chance. KRS' Shibari saga reached a new degree of intricacy, the bigger picture being more beautiful than ever.<br /><br /><br />EMILY is about making decisions, and owning the choices. More mature, with a determination that won't falter, Sal and his tribe grow up, deadly and formidable . *insert grins here*<br />Lines will be drawn, blood will be shed. In that ever changing game, where dynamics constantly shift, betrayal stings. Still, ties are reinforced.<br /><i> <b>"We keep moving. We do not draw attention to ourselves. We just keep going. And we do not quit."</b> </i><br /><br />Thanks to a striking realism, I felt like I was in Sal's head. Loving, hurting, raging along with him. That guy's imperfections only made me fall for him a little more (who knew it was even possible at this point!).<br /><i> <b>"I am trained for this. But fuck if it ain’t hard some days."</b> </i><br /><br />My favorite triangle Deacon/Sal/Iris set me on fire.  Through meaningful and touching scenes, they developed an intimacy, a passion, an acceptance I loved witnessing. “Be brave. Be strong. Be unapologetically in fucking love with me. Because I love you more than words.”<br /><br />Dayummm…...HOLY HELL!!!! EMILY was freaking ahhmazing!! I swear KRS writes solely for my tears. Happy tears, sad tears, heart in my throat this can’t be happening tears. SO DAMN GOOD!!! The wedding is coming and Sal has an impossible task to complete. Will he figure out everything in time or lose the one he loves more than words? <br /><br />“We live, discard, and move on. We only carry what we can; we only forget when we forgive; we only love when we sacrifice.”<br /><br />I felt all the pain, yearning, betrayal and love as if it was happening to me. A lot is explained and my hate list is growing. There were touching moments that made me want to hug tight certain characters and put others in my pocket and protect them forever. We are given a little humor when you least expect it which breaks some of the tension. There were definitely times that I wanted to hurt a bish!! Needless to say I had several WTF moments. <br /><br />“The only way to heaven is through the nightmare of love…”<br /><br />Sal and Iris have been miles apart for some time now but there is some good that has come from their tragic situation. They both are finding themselves and becoming more confident, brave and all around badass. They are becoming who they were meant to be. I have loved watching the growth of their characters and love for one another. And Deacon really brought his A Game to the table in this book. He is is phenomenal. <br /><br />“He is neither fire nor water, but wind. I need his breeze to survive as he brings clarity and surges my cinders to a blaze.”<br /><br />The ending was beautiful. Simply beautiful. If you are looking for an intense sizzling dark mafia romance filled with suspense, love and angst you need to read this series!!! <br /><br />“I am eternally and forever yours and you are mine.”

Sal and Iris's story is filled with so many emotions and the reader feels them all.<br />Kailee writes these extraordinary tales and the reader gets drawn in quickly and held until the last page.

Wow...I know I get repetitive when I speak of writing of Kailee Reese Samuels. But when I get through with one of her books, I usually sit back, exhale slowly and quietly say aloud, “Wow.” And then I have to readjust back to the mundane, the normal life, because for hours previous I’ve been in Sal Raniero’s world, a wonderfully complex and intriguing world created by Ms. Samuels. But even in my return to normalcy, the contents of the book stay with me for quite some time through the words spoken, actions taken, connections made and mysteries revealed. That’s what Kailee’s writing always does to me. It lingers.<br /><br />Sal, yes my sigh-worthy hero, is almost beyond description this time around. His love for Iris is paramount, it colors every decision he makes. The way his mind works, his solutions to things, his perception of events and people, not to mention the sheer masculinity of the man, all enthrall me. Yes, he is deserving of my sighs. <br /><br />I’m not going to give away the plot, and there’s a lot of it: marriage, friendships, love, envy, betrayal, heartfelt sorrow and the highs of contentment. I don’t know how she does it, but KRS never, ever disappoints me. In fact, there are times that I’m quite simply blown away by the events, people and interconnections in her world. It’s quite brilliant actually. <br /><br />I have a small list of authors I greatly admire, and Ms. Samuels ranks very very high on that list. And I read a lot, so trust me when I say that her books are absolutely worthy of your time and attention. This was a wonderful read, one I hope you’ll venture into. You won’t be disappointed if you do.<br />

Kailee you are a mastermind lady!! Wow this may just be my favourite book of yours yet. Kailee has a way of entrenching you into her stories, you are so engrossed in her characters because her words are just so skillfully written.. you want to look away but you just can't. The love between Sal, Iris and Deacon OMG is just so intense!! Sal will do anything to save his queen Iris and Deacon is the same with Sal. So unconventional but so freaking amazingly HOT together and separately... I can't get enough of this trio. So many twists and turns in this fabulously dark and twisted tale, you get so wrapped up in Sal's world which is corrupt and intriguing but also hot, steamy with a whole lot of love to go round. Buckle up tight as this will be one bumpy but oh so great ride... another masterpiece I'm excited but also scared to see what is yet to come!!

Every time I read one of these lil books, I find myself sitting trying to process it all. Then how to write a review that will do the justice. It never feels right to me no matter what I put in here. KRS is one of a kind. You just have to dive in to the world she has created &amp; live with the characters. Sal is growing up! We are now starting to see him take charge &amp; go after the things he wants. Sal and The Unholy are making a name for themselves, getting where they need to be. So grab some bubbles, cake, and some tissues. You will need the tissues this one made me cry. KRS Thank you for being a one of a kind writer &amp; giving us these BIG amazing books! I’m so ready for more!!

"Love is like a virus, spreading like hot molten lava and seizing our time together, like an everlasting bond."<br /><br />Now more than ever, Sal's love for Iris needs to indeed speak in "more than words". He's got a lot to do to prove he is worthy of guarding the Lotus, and that means showing he is worthy to her family. We spend a lot of time watching Sal try to repair the mistakes of his father, of trying to get some of those irons out of the fire. <br /><br />I think of all the books in this series so far, this one makes the most progress as far as putting out burning fires and of Sal cementing his position of not only who he is, but who he is to Iris. We also see his relationship in Iris's absence grow into more than what it already was. His love for Deacon only adds to who he is as a future husband to Iris. This book is so much about Sal's personal evolution of letting go of pain, of working on some of the flaws that don't help him, and of embracing the flaws that others see as loveable. "Because you are imperfectly warped and defectively flawed and arrantly beautiful in my eyes."<br /><br /><br />There is so much involved in this book that it really makes it hard to review without giving things away. The books in this series are wonderfully huge (like Sal, am I right), the last one came in at 702 pages, so know this is going to take you time to read, and each hour invested is a wealth of information that has come to light. Ms. Samuel considers giving her readers fantastic books, intricately weaved together to create a world in which readers desperately want to be a part of. Very well done!

"Keep your hand low when you play the game"<br /><br />Good book. ?? I'm inspired to get laid and shank a bitch. ?<br /><br />Do yourself a favor, skip this stupidly long review and just buy the book. ??<br /><br />On a more serious note, this book changes EVERYTHING. There isn't a character, in or out of Sugargrove, left untouched by the events in this one. Although KRS usually plays with our heads and our hearts, this one took that to a whole new level. I was left bereft and completely satisfied, simultaneously, at the end. <br /><br />For most readers of the TAT series, I think this will bring on that big literary O. We get the satisfaction of wrapping up many of the longer story arcs. Just as tasty, is the excitement of the totally unanticipated and fresh from the garden beginnings. <br /><br />As with all Sal books, there will be nary a dry eye and plenty of screaming (both euphoria and outrage.) I wish you luck on your journey. As it is exactly that. A wild, wonderful and totally fulfilling journey. <br /><br />Buy the damned book! By all things holy, buy it!!

Carla's Five Star Review<br /><br />I have been reading Kailee's books for a while, and I must say this may be my new favorite (even though they are all great)! I just couldn't get enough of these amazing characters! Of course, Sal is as charming as ever, but he has found himself in a position where his charm and words are no longer enough-he must remember that old familiar saying-actions are stronger than words. His biggest goal is protecting the Lotus. How will he do that? Well, he will have to bring his "A" game and bring out all the stops and prove himself.<br /><br />As always with this amazingly talented author, this is a story with many layers and lots of twists and turns. The always charismatic Sal will draw you into this story so completely that the rest of the world will just fade away. Kudos to Kailee for another outstanding read!

Lies, lies and more lies. I never know who I can trust. This author is the twisted Queen of the dark poetry. Shakespeare had nothing on this queen. Several key characters did not make it and while it surprised me, some pleased me. Of course our resident serial killer Nico had a hand in a few. One line in the book goes, "you have to go through hell to find happy" and I have to say the inferno is hot. As time passes we see many changes in our characters. The unstable sometimes make poor choices. And sometimes the clues are right there, you just didn't see them. I'm not sure what Ms Samuels has in store for the future but I guess I'll grab a bottle and sit back and enjoy the show. Until the next ride. ...<br /><br />Everything always goes back to Kaci
