Faith's Journey

Heather Greer

FAITH'S JOURNEY is the first book I've ever read by Heather Greer. The twists and turns keep coming and I had to know how it was going to end! Every time I thought I knew where this story was going, a few pages later, Heather Greer threw me for a loop and I knew I was wrong! I'm kicking myself for not reading this wonderful novel sooner.

FAITH'S JOURNEY is a quick read and unputdownable! There were quite a few times when reading it that I wanted to reach into the pages and slap a few of these people with their flip flop ways of thinking. I found myself laughing one second and then tearing up the next. If you are looking for a beautiful story to pull you out of your book slump, you can’t go wrong with FAITH'S JOURNEY. Heather Greer is now one of my auto buy authors.

The twists and turns in FAITH'S JOURNEY are going to keep you up late into the night trying to figure it out. One minute you believe you know where Katie is going with her life and the next you are sitting there shaking your head, wondering what the heck just happened. I had my ideas, I had it all figured out, or so I thought, and BAM.......wrong again! Once you start reading, trust me, you aren't going to be able to stop! When everything is finally revealed, well, you won't believe it!

FAITH'S JOURNEY begins with Katie McGowan returning home to Illinois. She is beyond devastated as her fiancé cheated on her and broke her heart. At the same time, her dad calls and tells her she needs to come home and help with her mother. I thoroughly enjoyed reading FAITH'S JOURNEY. All of the characters are on their own spiritual journey, not just Katie. It is heart warming and filled with so many different emotions. There is so much going on in this story, but Heather Greer does a wonderful job of weaving all the pieces together. All of the characters will have you feeling sad and then giggling on the same page. More than once I wanted to be there with my new found friends! Once you finish devouring this story, you are going to want to tell everyone you know about this awesome book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.

Faith's Journey was an okay read. The characters were okay and the story line a good one.

Katie left home immediately after an acceptance into college to escape the God of her parents in rebellion. Only for her to return home when something happens to her mum. She didn't plan to fall in love with the young Pastor or even find her way home to her parents and her God.

Austin was comfortable being the young pastor shepherding his flock and enjoying his side hustle until he collided literally into Katie.

I liked reading the journey of Katie's return to faith and Austin's role in her life. I equally enjoyed reading about Erin, Katie's imposed best friend. She's a breath of fresh air. One profound less from this book is as a Christian, a child of God my actions greatly affects what outsiders believe of God. If my actions in and out of church are not consistent with God's word that leads others astray and that's hypocrisy. That's one of the things Katie struggled with about Church folks

I received a copy of the book and this is my honest opinion

A contemporary Christian romance, “Faith’s Journey” by Heather Greer speaks to some of the most common issues affecting young adults today. Katie McGowan is a prodigal who returns to her childhood home to care for her aging parents after the devastating infidelity of her fiancée. She does not have faith despite that of her parents and the fact that she grew up going to church. She comments early in the story that “I believe God is there, but I don’t see that He has made much of a difference in the lives of those in the pews every Sunday. They all sing and pray and shout hallelujah, but it doesn’t really change the way they live outside the church doors.” This is one of the toughest issues that faces the church today: hypocrisy. People will not want to become followers of Jesus if we do not live out God’s commandments but instead present a selfish, two-faced veneer. Still, I have to admit that I didn’t care for Katie’s character, especially not in the beginning. Her attitude and temper annoyed me, but then again, I have to admit that there are times when I struggle too. Austin, on the other hand, is easy to love and displays the qualities that earmark him for evangelization. There is enough tension and drama to keep readers entertained while also exploring God’s Truth. Young adults and older readers are the target audience, but I would further recommend this story to those concerned about prodigals within their own families, alcoholism, and family tensions.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Celebrate Lit and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

Heather Greer’s debut novel, Faith’s Journey, captured my heart from the beginning with relatable characters facing life challenges, heartache and disappointments. Katie is a grown woman with her own bookstore but a strained relationship with her Christian parents. When a call from her dad came right after her heartbreak, it was the perfect opportunity to go back home to Carbondale, IL to assist with the care of her mother. Austin met Katie at her parents with the two connecting as her dad explained to Austin what Katie needed. His occupations were not thoroughly discussed, that lead to some tense moments between them. However, this is a beautiful story of Katie and others seeking and finding their path to faith in Jesus Christ. Faith’s journey is filled with adventures, questions about life and faith, new beginnings, God’s love, hope, family reconnecting and discovering inner peace.

When I read the blurb about Faith’s Journey on a blog post I was intrigued, knowing I had to read this book. I was blessed to be the winner of the giveaway on the blog and received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a review, but have shared my honest thoughts. Now, I’m waiting for a sequel filled with the characters who became family while reading.

Faith’s Journey

Katie goes home to help her parents after her mom takes a fall. Katie has just broken up with her fiancé. There is a lot to deal with being back in her hometown.

Austin lives in Katie home town. He owns a bakery and he also the preacher there. They do become good friends but will it become more?

I loved Katie’s character. She tried so hard to please her mom but at times it was hard. She had a lot to work out between her and God. I think we all are they way at times.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.

A true journey of faith

I began reading this book thinking the journey of faith would be undertaken by the main female character. Not far into the book I realized that almost everyone in the book was on their own spiritual journey. The author did a wonderful job of bringing this story full circle and to a satisfying conclusion. Recommend this book to anyone looking for a little bit different type of love story.

Faith's Journey highlights the journey of Katie McGowan seeking to know the meaning of real faith and discovering if she wants to commit to what she finds. Her road is filled with depths of self realization and doubt, dealing with family relationships, men and religion. The author, Heather Greer, writes a compelling story with unexpected twists that keep the reader engaged and identifying with her characters. Definitely a must read.

I don't normally read this genre but really enjoyed this one. I like Jacob but I say this to say Heather made her characters real, believable.
