I 'mostly' enjoyed this story.

Royal and Zade's pairing was pretty much anything but a slow burn, with a pre-date, then an actual date, with steam off the charts from that point on.

However, what I really liked was the slow burn with Nash, as he saw his best friend and the new boyfriend begin to bond on more than a sexual level. He wasn't jealous, more envious, and didn't want to be left behind. I also loved how he never had a hetero freakout.

The story was definitely high on sex, which was tiptoeing up to the line of too much for me, but the poly relationship was handled in a way that felt pretty organic and believable.

What I did feel was entirely unnecessary in the story was the introduction of Liam, Royal's long lost half-sibling. To me, it felt like a distraction and only served as a setup for a future story, which left me pretty bored.

The part at the end with the rescue dog also felt like a not-so-effective attempt to pull at the reader's heart strings.

I'd rate it at around 3.5 stars and would 'mostly' recommend it due to the humor and intermittent quick jabs of snark from Royal.

-----------------------------------------------

This book is *FREE* with Kindle Unlimited membership.

See All My Latest Reads (Review Quick-Links)

-----------------------------------------------

Yeah, I'm tapping out at 56%. This is just not how I like my ménages. Basically up until this point, it's been a book about Zade and Royal with Nash coming to terms with having sexual feelings for his best friend, Royal. Nash's feelings don't even come out until 50ish percent and then everyone is hunky-dory with a ménage relationship. Nope...

I have been looking forward to this book ever since I finished Rescue Me a couple of months ago. I loved that book, there was just something about it that drew me in. And I couldn't wait to see how this one turned out, how Nash, Royal and Zade finally ended up together.

I'm sad to say that this book didn't live up to my expectations.

My first issue was the constant change of POV. I mean, I get that there are three of them and that you want to tell all of their stories, but please make each section longer, at the very least let them have their own chapters. It's not necessary (or wanted) to see each scene from multiple POV's. It takes away from the story and you never really emerge into the book.

Another thing that bugged me was how quickly everything happened. I mean I can kinda see Royal and Zade moving quickly with their insta-lust and also Royal-Nash with their history. But the three-way relationship wasn't natural to me. It felt really rushed and forced, but strangely also drama and angst-free. I'm not one for unnecessary drama or angst, but you'd think there would be some bumps along the road when starting this kind of relationship. I wanted more of a connection between them, outside the bedroom.

I also wanted to see a lot more of the side characters, more of the Heathens Ink. They had such a connection and played a great part in the first book and I was missing the boys in this one.

*Fingers crossed for deeper connections Adam's story*

Tighter plotting with less mistakes

This one doesn't have as many grammatical errors as the first one and the plotting is tighter without the angsty setting of the first.

The polyamorous element to the story is well crafted, I felt it was believable that these three men would come together in a three way romantic relationship.

There's no real dramady to this one either, making it a much lighter and fun read and the sexual side of things is also done well.

EDIT: I just remembered one thing which did annoy me - referring to a Marine as a soldier. Nope, they're Navy not Army.

3.5 for this installment- I enjoyed this and loved the building chemistry between Zade, Royal & Nash. Again things seem to fall into place easily so I'm guessing there's a bit of "cheesy romance " in this authors style. I didn't mind, I found it cute ! Not sure about the whole Liam scenario, again things were too sudden, too easy. Will I continue with this series when book 3 comes out ? Yes ! But I know what to expect
This is a really sweet poly romance.

We get friends to lovers, discovered sexuality and a nice love connection between all three heroes.

I liked Nash, Royal, and Zade. They work well together.

This is a pretty simple but enjoyable poly romance.

Good read.

**** #2 in the Heathens Ink series, where we watch as the group of guys find their life partner or partners. These are completely fascinating, gripping, and sexual. GFY, Threesome, attempted suicide, transgender, and custody.
* Royal is a tattoo artist at Heathens Ink,

and has been best friends with Nash since they were teens.
* Blue-eyed Nash is straight,

but after a drunk kiss with Royal, he's re-thinking his choices.
* Big hunky, buzzed crew cut Zade, 29,

is two weeks out of the Marine Corps and crashing at Thane and Maddox's place temporarily.

He gets a tattoo from Royal, and the friendship and pursuit begins. Zade and Royal begin dating, and Nash, muscled and inked with long blonde hair in a bun, wants both Zade and Royal. Royal has been in love with Nash forever. Nash feels the pull, and wants both men, but is apprehensive. Zade is interested in both men.

There are stories of coming out, deep inner musings, then there's a stranger who is a relative, custody issues, attempted suicide, and lots of wonderful advice and direction with complete acceptance.

A beautifully written tale with special topics we are happy to learn about. There's some teary moments, too. I loved the hot sexiness, one on one, and threesome male action, and Nash's first M/M everything.

We get some answers, and have questions about the characters in this whole series, but we know there is more to look forward to.

Highly recommended. ENJOY !

====

I am digging this series!

Looking for a sweet and sexy hot M/M/M romance without any miscommunication drama getting in the way of your fluffy romantic good time?

I loved that there really isn't any big drama about the threesome that happens. Royal and Zade get together and it's pretty organic how Nash realizes he's in love with Royal. Zade being poly and willing to share makes all the difference to them making a go of it together so Royal doesn't have to choose between the guy he's fallen in love with and the guy he's loved, but never thought he could have, since childhood.

This is a really sweet, fluffy, sexy hot, low angst, low drama romance. I'm really glad I took a chance on this series and I can't wait to see what happens with Adam in the next book!

Note for the sticklers: There are a few editing/proofing errors, but not so bad it impacted my enjoyment of the story.
