They say to save the best for last and in my opinion this series has ended with the best!

Brick and Londyn are my top favorite JSJ couple ever! Not only do they have amazing chemistry, it was so palpable at one point I feared my kindle would overheat, but they are both complex and flawed and utterly perfect for each other.

On the surface Brick portrays himself as carefree and easy going but dig a few layers and the man is hiding a sea of hurt and pain. Likewise, Londyn has put on a brave face, hiding behind her whit and attitude to try and recover from a major betrayal.

The plot is engaging, funny, emotional and downright INTENSE at times! Jeanne knows how to weave a well rounded story that draws you in like a moth to a flame, insuring nothing else matters until you reach that last page!

And just when you think you’ve seen the best she has to offer, BAM, the epilogue for this book will have you feeling like you’re riding a unicorn over a rainbow. Yup, it’s that good!!

Londyn is a hot mess for most of this one, but especially at the start. Brick being a man-whore is obviously attracted to her, you wouldn't think things would work between them, but it does. I think part of it is due to them being away by themselves, working a case where they have to pretend to be a couple. They have fun with it and more grows. It's only when they get back home that things fall apart. Brick becomes scared with how things ended with the case, which causes him to pull away.

I loved how Rissa and Mercy end up getting them back together. Love too how all the other Shadows start giving Brick grief during one of their poker games, it was what he needed.

The ending to this one was perfect, loved how it cemented things between the Shadows and the DAMC.

This one has a slightly different tone regarding the plot, compared to the other 5. It was refreshing and I loved it. A little scary and alot intense. But sexy, sweet, poignant, romantic, and hilarious... I wasn't crazy about the Epilogue though. I'd rather it ended with something more intimate with just Brick and Londyn..

This was still a good close for this series though.

I would recommend this series.

The last installment of the Guts & Glory series and one of my favorites. Brick and Londyn were great characters and their chemistry was off the charts. Brick has been the jokester of the guys so I was excited to get his story. We know our Shadows are all broken in some way and what happened in Brick's past is enough to break anyone. I loved how this author writes alphas with a soft spot for their woman. And strong heroines that overcome their obstacles and get their HEA. So sad this series is coming to an end. ?

Sad to see the end of this series. Hopefully some of the same people will show up in the authors next series and give a five little glimpse of their future.
Brick is the king of hook ups. Known as "swipe right". His hook ups came from using dating apps and he let anyone know who looked at his profile that all he wanted was a few hours of sex. No overnight stays or even a second time. This man has issues. Still didn't explain fully why he was a one time hitter.
Londyn is Russia's sister. All she ever wanted was a love like the one her parents had. Problem was... she was looking too hard and coming up empty. Like her last guy that ended up with her coming to stay with Rissa and Mercy. Mercy needed her out of their house so when a job came up where Brick was working it and he needed a fake wife he sent Londyn. Only one thing Mercy and Rissa made Brick and Londyn promise... not to have sex. They both promise because it would cause problems. Haha
Londyn makes good on her acting with the targets but she has a problem with doing as she is told when the job seems to be failing. Out to do whatever it takes will she take it too far and put her life on the line?

This is a much read series. You don't have to read Down and Dirty first but many of the same people will carry over into this series.

Rated for adults due to graphic sex and violence

5 star review of Guts & Glory: Brick (In the Shadows Security #6) by Jeanne St James

Audio Review

The sixth book in the series and wow, I loved it. It was a fantastic addition to the series. I think I have a new favourite book boyfriend. Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Ava Lucas who did a great job with the narration, I was engrossed in the storyline from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t wait to see what Ms. St James had in store for Brick and Londyn.
The chemistry and passion between them was off the charts and yet underneath you can feel the attraction and love that is building between them. I loved how feisty and sassy Londyn is and I fell hard and fast for Brick., he ticked all the boxes for me.
The story was well written, gritty, raw and the performances by Teddy and Ava really added to my overall enjoyment of the story. The banter between them had me laughing on numerous occasions as they embark on an undercover assignment and the suspense that is throughout the story added an additional layer.

Heartwarming

Brick and Lyndon what a match--a match made by the presence that be.
Brick is the last of the Shadows to find a match. To fall head over heals in love without even realizing it.
The theatrics they have while in Florida had me in stitches then as Brick was telling her about his time in Pakistan had my heart breaking.
It is no wonder our soldiers come back broken.
This is another fantastic book from Jeanne St. James and damn can't wait for the next series to hit

My heart is aching.....because of the beautiful story, because of the beautiful ending, because of the conclusion of this amazing series. Please let us see snippets of them in the future Jeanne St. James. You’ve written an imaginary world of caring, alpha men and passionate women who compliment and complete each other. I want to live in Shadow Valley. I want a home in that compound. I want to sit on my porch and drink my coffee and watch the children play and grow and sneak peeks at the guys doing their early morning runs. Thanks for hours and hours of reading enjoyment.

Brick is a man who has no commitments other than his job and his brotherhood. He was broken on his last mission before leaving the Navy SEALs and nothing can fix him. When he has been given a job where he has to pretend to be married to get the truth from an alleged murderer, he is convinced that he can keep his hands, and other body parts, to himself. He has no desire to be in a relationship and he knows that Londyn is strictly hands off because he has been warned to stay away by his Shadow brother Mercy. Little does he know that his promise before leaving for this job will be harder to keep than he thought.

Londyn has been hurt and let down again. Her future brother in-law does not want her at his house and her sister doesn’t show any signs of wanting her in the house either. She wants her close to home, but not in her home. When the opportunity comes up to work with Brick on the job to get information, she thinks it will give her something to do and will give her purpose. She made a promise to her sister that she would stay away from Brick in any romantic/sexual way because she has sworn off men. Little does she know that her promise will be much harder than she thought it would be as well.

These two are attracted to each other right away, but they fight it for a little bit. I loved these two. Brick is an easygoing guy who just wants to play when he’s not working, but Londyn is a challenge that he is not ready for. Londyn is a naturally inquisitive woman who is more than delighted to get answers from their neighbors to help Brick with his job. They both work to get under the others skin in the beginning and their back and forth is quite comical. I love the heat and passion that is sparking between them. I will never look at brownie batter the same ever again after reading this book either. This book had me laughing at these two, cringing at times, and crying at times, but through the entire story I hated to put the book down. I loved it and give it a 5-star review. I hate to see this series end, but I am so happy that I was able to read it. The men of In The Shadows Security are a great team and the women they each found are perfect for them and they are just as tough and dangerous as their men.
