I had to take a breather before I could write this review. Why, you ask? Well, then, you must never have read a book by this author before! This latest in the unique, interesting, thrilling, mesmerizing…all kinds of adjectives…universe is just like all the rest of the books: hard to put down. Callie is dealing with the fallout of the previous installment, and just like poor Nate, she has to deal with new and old villains, obstacles, and just plain old eggs…what?!? Great book sure to satisfy all the Mary Ellens out there. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Halo breaker? Heart breaker!!!

You have to love a book that grabs you by the tear ducts and refuses to let you go , I was so engrossed that I didn’t realise I was making noises out loud until someone snapped me out of it . Not only does Callie reach a new level of disassociation but she seems to mature in a different way as well. And makes a new friend along the way. Watch for the little Easter eggs our illustrious author likes to drop - there’s a couple that made me grin!

Really, anything I'd want to write here would be a spoiler, there's just so much! This one will blow a brain gasket, for sure. Forget what you 'know' about angels, demons... Heck, just set it all aside, sit back, strap in and ride it out.
Yet another fantastic episode in Callie's story.

The lunatic is in my head. You raise the blade, you make the change, you rearrange me til I'm sane..

Pink Floyd definitely came up with some insane lyrics, but usually so spot-on they can be used to describe everything at some point. This time they're working rather well at describing poor Callie's life right about now. Topsy turvy works too. Good grief, that poor girl is being put through her paces!

I don't think there is any way to really tell you what to expect from Halo Breaker. Except maybe that it's Callie. It's what she does, breaks halos. Which, needless to say, is not something the angels appreciate. But, as the Horseman of Despair, concern for the feelings of angels must remain very low on her list of things to worry about. What with her godparents' wedding, Lucky acting oddly, Uriel on the loose and behaving extremely unangel-like, and war brewing in KC, she doesn't even have time to concentrate on that beautiful hunk of a male, Ryuu.

There is no question this is part one of a two-part continuing saga of our White Rose and her part of the larger story of Templeverse. Callie is lately becoming a favorite of mine. Quinn always had place numero uno in female characters in this multi-city saga, but Callie is fast coming up along the inside lane. She has developed into a character with a lot of spunk and personality, with plenty of snark to keep us entertained. And the story? Well, between Nate, Quinn and Callie, and all the characters on the periphery, this story has taken off in one direction...straight up!

It is still very convoluted, which after so many books in the series, can't be helped. You will actually need to read the series to understand what's going on. But once you do, once you get here? Well, buckle up because this is one hayride that's bumpy and twisty and emotional and hairy. And oh so very shrouded in mystery and myth.

Shayne Silvers is unique in the world of fantasy in that he not only creates worlds within our world but worlds within those worlds as well. His take on the various mythologies that make up a religion, exotic cultures and the many pantheons is so unusual, so diverse that it takes time to understand and embrace it. But the journey you take with him through the world of Templeverse, from Nate through Quinn and even a bit of Soren, is an exciting one, and Halo Breaker just takes things up a notch, ushering you into Angel Dust, the next book in this series, which you will be holding your breath waiting to read. What an adventure! And Callie is front and center and definitely in the house throughout this entire storyline, so get ready. Once started, no stopping. Not until you're done.

To sum this up, let's make it easy. How about just...WOW! Once again, Shayne aced it! Well done, Shayne Silvers! So Very Well Done, indeed!

With each new book Shayne Silvers writes in his awesome Templeverse saga it gets better and better.
Halo Breaker is definitely the best addition to the series so far, fast paced with enough events twist and turns to give you whiplash you won't want to put it down.

Rising Above the Ashes
“Halo Breaker”, Feathers and Fire Series Book #10, is another MASTERpiece from Shayne Silvers. Once again, he has proven that he excels in the use of imagery and character depth. It is another gem added to the TempleVerse world.

Callie finds herself a leader of people with a heart of a warrior, fighting battles around her and within. The book is full of action, blood and a struggle against Sins that we all can relate to.

Halo Breaker is busting at the seams with rich characters, favorites we have already met and new ones to make us laugh and add depth to the story. Obie and Grace, both colorful characters, are examples of Silvers’ trademark humor which helps balance the overall emotional feel of the book.

Answers are given as well as more questions are raised. We are pulling for Team Callie but will she rise above the ashes in the battle of the celestial plane, between angels and demons? Not to mention the many other supernatural entities, including the Easter Bunny. Yes, the Easter Bunny.

Shayne Silvers, in his trademark way, also touches the reader’s heart with lessons of friendship, family, strength and love. As you are entertained by an incredible story line, you are learning about life.

Silvers’ imagination will capture your heart and challenge your senses. It is pure satisfaction of a well written book which you will want to savor every moment. Just brilliant.

Callie’s books tend to have more emotionally charged scenes than Shayne Silvers’ other series. I went from a manically giggling scene to being distraught. I was absolutely crushed and Shayne managed to pick me up, dust off my emotions and kept me involved and mentally invested in the story.
I feel like an unseen observer in Shayne Silvers books. I’m able to see the scene through everyone’s eyes and be a part of the story. You might say that is what a story is supposed to do. But it’s rare to find this experience. This is a real gift that I cherish whenever it’s been found. Shayne Silvers has this particular gift and I anticipate the escape from reality while reading his work. Every book displays Silvers improvement at his craft and I can not imagine where he will be in ten years. I don’t have the ability to imagine the scenario .The best news is that this half of a story arc. The other half is set to be released in about a month.

Wow

Another 5 star book from Silvers. It always takes me a little time to get back into the world he builds, and this one was no different. However, I found myself wrapped up in it far quicker than. I usually do.

Callie is back with her ever-growing assortment of friends, enemies, and frienemies. She's got some recovering of her emotional wounds to do and Silvers does a fantastic job of weaving a web of mystery, intrigue, character growth, snark, laughs, ans violence. As always, he answers some questions but leaves us with more than we initially had.

One thing is for certain, as long as he keeps writing I will keep reading.

Words honestly cannot do Shayne Silvers' work justice. From the very first Templeverse novel it was obvious that his writing was something you always hoped to find when buying a book. Every new book he writes just gets better and more exciting.

Halo Breaker has upped the bar yet again.

Shayne Silvers' writing is no-holds barred exciting action. The continuing storyline pulls no punches yet is lifted by snark and occasional laugh-out-loud humour. This is all out-matched by one of the most beautiful moments I have ever read.

Other reviewers will describe the plot. All I will say is read this guy. I don't know of another author today of his calibre.
