While the BDSM club, Cuffs, and Spurs will have a role in the story, it is more around the lives of several key people that work or plays in the club. With the help of Spenser, he will set up cameras and use his injury as to why he hasn’t returned to work—not letting her know she is his job. But what happens when these two spend more time together? Jack has never felt he could love a woman, but Ryana has changed all that. Ryana doesn’t get close to men because she doesn’t want the risk that being near her could bring them. But four long years of no sex is blown out of the water when she and Jack get together. Her willingness to accept his dominance and control of her body, her desires, and her pleasure supersedes her fears of the past. The story has explicit sex scenes, a couple entering a BDSM relationship, with scenes at a BDSM club, exhibition, and voyeurism, along with some mild bondage. It is about trust and honesty, moving forward and burying the past to have a future.<br />

Police officer Jack Stone is returning to duty after being shot in the line of duty, and his boss has a special assignment for him -- protecting a woman in witness protection. And both fortunately and unfortunately (at different times in the book), she's someone he knows. Waitress Rayna Thompson as been doing double duty working at the both local diner and the local BDSM club to build her nest egg in case she has to run again -- after her father, a notorious mobster, had her boyfriend killed, she turned to the FBI to take him down. Unfortunately, one of his associates has escaped capture, and is determined to kill Rayna no matter what the cost.<br /><br />Both Jack and waitress Rayna have been a feature in the previous <i>Cuffs and Spurs</i> books, and now they finally get their own story. <i>His Cherished Love</i> is a departure from the previous books in the series, which are more straightforward romance. In this book, Summers heads into romantic suspense territory, crafting a book that works both as a police thriller and as a BDSM romance. Summers even avoids the miscommunication-as-conflict trope prevalent in several of her other books -- while Jack doesn't tell Rayna everything, it's only because he was ordered to by his boss and the U.S. Marshall assigned to protect her.<br /><br />All in all, one of the best of Anya Summers books.<br /><br />

Heartwarming, emotionally thrilling and action packed journey filled with drama, passion and exciting twists.... a great read from beginning to end. I quickly devoured it in a few hours unable to stop till the very end. Highly entertaining!

Wonderfully fantastic... The book was amazing... It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it... The characters and their personalities match them perfectly... All good things must come to an end, and Summers gives us a great sendoff to the Cuffs &amp; Spurs series in His Cherished Love. Rayna and Jack are two fully realized characters. Summers takes the time to introduce them in detail before they interact, so we come to understand Rayna’s weariness over her treadmill life, living in constant fear of being discovered by the mafia connections she ran from when she turned government witness against them. Jack is battling his own fears of competency after an on-duty injury curtails his ability to serve as a cop.<br /><br />Jack is roped into surveillance of Rayna after her federal handlers discover a credible threat to her, and I loved how Jack kept trying to gain permission to share his situation with Rayna and how he struggled when the feds kept refusing him. <br /><br />Jack is scarred from his parent’s difficult relationship. Rayna is realizing that a life on the run really isn’t a life at all. When she and Jack come crashing together, they start building something new: a woman who ran from the life she knew and a man who never fully trusted the life he has start to build something uniquely theirs.<br /><br />Summers ties this back to the Cuffs &amp; Spurs club, where Rayna works and Jack is a Dom. I was surprised that Rayna hadn’t experienced this lifestyle at all considering her work at the club—I expected her to have at least a little bit of experience. She also adapts really rapidly to this lifestyle, one of the stereotypes of a BDSM romance, accepting everything that Jack does to her. I would have liked to have seen some hesitation on her part and seen how Jack would have addressed that. <br /><br />But Summers avoids the to-stupid-to-live decisions that heroines who are at risk often make in a romantic suspense story. Instead, the danger comes from an unexpected source, which made this a refreshing take on the heroine-at-risk plot. And Jack falls for Rayna like a ton of bricks, and I really loved that once committed, he didn’t waver in his love and loyalty to her. It built a base for Rayna, who’d been living with instability for so long.<br /><br />Not only are Jack and Rayna strong characters; Summers also finds a great way to weave in all the couples from previous books in this series as a vital part of the plot to help shape a grand conclusion to the Cuffs and Spurs books. When Summers fires on all cylinders, her books are such wonderful reads. I’m happy to say that His Cherished Love definitely falls into this category.<br />

This is the 8th outing in this series by Ms Summers and I have to say its actually better than some of the earlier ones. This is the story of Rayna Thompson and Jackson Stone. Both characters have been introduced on a regular basis in the earlier books but this can be read as a standalone with no problem. Rayna is in the US Witness Protection System and has been in Jackson Hole for around 2 years as a result of testifying against her Mafia family 10 years earlier. Although her evil father and his other family followers are no longer a threat, there is one, Dominic Travino to whom Rayna was to be forcibly married who is still constantly tracking her and she has had to up stakes and move with a new identity twice in 10 years already. Now its seems he has found her once more but her FBI handler wants to catch him so he feels it best not to tell Rayna that Dominic has found her and is in town and he tasks Jack, who is a Detective with JHPD returning from 10 weeks recovery having been shot, with the job of protecting and watching Rayna's back. There is definitely a spark between them and when he moves in next door and offers to share his barbecue with her she realises that she needs to keep herself back because he is a cop and cops tend to die around her. Will things progress, and if they do get closer what will Rayna do when she finds out that Jack has been watching her and going behind her back? This story was a little more gritty than some of the others in this series and had much more depth, there was an element of a thriller and the characters were quite compelling, although the ending did seem a little rushed. As always the sex was hot and very raunchy and BDSM descriptions were explicit and concise, it ticked all the erotic romance boxes, for me anyway. I enjoyed this and found it an entertaining quick read.

Wowsa! This is one hot and spicy romance! ????<br /><br />Can I say I how much I adore this series?!? ?<br /><br />Jackson is a police detective recovering from being shot on his last case. He's realizing how lucky he is to have even survived the shooting and it's dawning on him how alone he is. He has friends and co-workers, but no one who would truly mourn his passing and that really scared him. He wants more but he didn't have the best childhood and is afraid of falling into his fathers' footsteps. He's also a Dom and knows that the BDSM lifestyle isn't for everyone. So when he gets pulled in on a new case involving a woman he's known for a while but never acted on his attraction, he decides to at least give it a try.<br /><br />Rayna is a woman with a scary past, who is in the witness protection plan because of her family and their crimes. She's on her second identity in the program and knows she's still not safe. But for the first time since this whole mess started, she's finally found a place she likes with people she has begun to care about. And that scares her. But her attraction to Jackson rattles her more because he makes her feel things that she hasn't allowed herself to feel in a long time.<br /><br />This book has some seriously hot scenes in it but it also has some downright scary times in it too. It'll also make you cry. But isn't that the sign of a great book? I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review. <br /><br />In this book we meet Rayna Thompson and get Jack Stone's story. Jack was injured and is just now coming back to the force after surgery and physical therapy. He has his moments with his arm still but is determined to get back to what he lives his life for the job. Jack's injury did show him one thing though he needs to find something other than the job to live for otherwise he will be a very lonely man. Little did he know something new is coming his way. Rayna is in witness protection from helping to bring down the Giancarlo mob. The problem is one of the men is still alive and out to kill her. She isn't looking to be on the run for the rest of her life and so far she only trust one man Special Agent David Carson. He is the partner of the man she helped bring down her family oh ya her real name is Victoria Gincarlo. Can these two find a way to keep her safe and maybe find something neither new they were missing or will Victoria/Rayna's past make that impossible?<br /><br />This is another amazing hit by this author in this series. Each can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading them in orders so you don't show any spoilers. This book does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will take you on a journey with these characters you will not want to get off of. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
