His Wicked Love

In the third <i>Cuffs and Spurs</i> novel, the action moves to the Black Elkhorn Lodge and Resort, where co-owner Mason Stewart is furious that his restaurant's chef (also his then-girlfriend) embezzled from their resort/restaurant, leaving him and his brother (the other co-owner) nearly bankrupt. Meanwhile, chef Emily Fox is fleeing Los Angeles, after her mentor stole her recipes and ruined her reputation. She takes refuge in Wyoming, and there the conflict begins.<br /><br />Honestly, I want to put Prozac in their water because all of the characters need to mellow out. Mason doesn't trust his judgement about women (or chefs) and nearly drives Emily away, where she has a hard time trusting and barely manages to let him in. Still, all the arguing makes for explosive chemistry, and the writing is really great. Despite the overblown conflicts between the characters, this is still a great novel and a fun read.

ROCK, MEET HARD PLACE<br /><br />The third book in the Cuff and Spurs saga will read as a stand-alone. While the BDSM club, Cuffs and Spurs will have a role in the story, it is more around the Black Elkhorn Lodge and Restaurant, run by brothers, Cole and Mason Steward, and the newly hired chef, Emily Fox from Los Angeles. <br />The Stewart brothers are up the proverbial creek after they last chef, Claire, embezzled several million dollars, and now they are in a bind, but without the restaurant open, they are losing guest and bookings. Hiring a new chef is a risk they must take, but they must keep this a working relationship only.<br /><br />Chef Emily Fox will leave Los Angeles after her nasty publicized departure from her job where her boss, the head Chef tries to take credit for all of her signature dishes that pulled his failing restaurant out of the gutter and made it a hit. Her family isn’t happy with her choice of careers and have never offered her support. Her mother is insistent that she come to work with her in real estate, but all Emily wants to do is create food dishes and make people happy. <br /><br />“When I applied and got into Le Cordon Bleu, they acted as if I had decided to join a biker gang and had begun worshipping Satan.”<br /><br />Mason Stewart blames himself for the mess they are in with Black Elkhorn Lodge, the restaurant is closed, and their creditors need to be paid. Getting involved with Claire and not keeping an eye on what all she was doing falls on him, not his brother, Cole. Bringing in another chef will help them keep reservations because they are losing too many nothing having it opened to their guest. But he needs to keep this a business relationship, and not let it get personal.<br /><br />The plot will have Emily showing up to start her job, and while Cole is kind, Mason is angry. He wants to throw in all kinds of new stipulations on her employment. But she isn’t one who just backs down, and she can give it back to him as fast as he dishes it out to her. There is so many tête-à-têtes between them, and yet deep down, there is an underlying attraction. But Mason can’t afford to mess this up; he owes it to Cole and himself to put business first. <br /><br />“I’ve never been much for following rules, especially someone else’s. It just seems that everything in my life is temporary. My job here, the temporary insanity that made me accept the position at Black Elkhorn Lodge, coming here today…”<br /><br />“Sweetheart, life is temporary. Do what makes you happy and forget the rest. There’s no time for anything else. Trust me.”<br /><br />With Emily in charge of the kitchen, with her creative dishes, the guest are happy, the staff is happy, and the receipts are proving she is making a difference and that keeps the brothers happy. Emily is allowed to do what she loves, create enticing dishes and please the palate of the guest. But what happens when she and Mason come to a head. They have danced around a sexual attraction that just sizzles below the surface. When they finally succumb to their passion, it is explosive. But not everyone will be happy with this relationship; it can only spell disaster for the business.<br /><br />“Mason had no idea what to do about it, about her. And about the fact that while he demanded she acknowledges him as her Sir, it was he who has been mastered tonight.”<br /><br />Emily comes up with several creative ways to promote the restaurant and the lodge and not only are the ideas; she has the business sense to place her proposals on paper and show how they will work. Can her business sense, along with her delicate dishes help save the business from failure?<br /><br />“Emily was a fascinating dichotomy. All soft Suzy homemaker one minute, with culinary delights that would make angels weep, then, the next minute, she displayed a whip-smart intelligence with a head for business.”<br /><br />The story also is the introduction of Emily into a submissive role in a D/s relationship with Mason. They have the chemistry, the passion, and they can no longer deny what is going on between them. Mason wants to help her on this journey, and she consents to his dominance.<br /><br />“Then I want a chance to truly explore what’s between us. I want to be the one to train you in the lifestyle. I want to be your Dominant. One of the biggest parts of a relationship between a Dominant and submissive is trust. That’s what tonight is about. All that’s required of you are placing yourself in my hands, my care, and trusting that I will take care of you.”<br /><br />The story has plenty of angst, some secrets, some omission of information, passion, anger, exploration, and new beginnings. There are mild BDSM scenes, introduction into a D/s relationship, bondage, and explicit sex scenes.

In this second installment of her new series, Anya Summers delivers an excellent love/hate story about Mason, owner of the Black Elk Lodge, and Emily, the new chef, hired sight unseen, to try to save the resort. I loved the relationship between Mason and Emily, especially Mason's rather unreasonable jealousy when Emily flirted with his brother, and Emily's feelings when Mason was downright rude in his conviction that he couldn't get involved with her. I found the disagreement at the end rather contrived, but the ending works nicely. The main improvement would be more linkage between the stories in the series. We have a brief glimpse of Carter and Jenna from the first title, His Scandalous Love, and some more teasing of a potential future relationship, but more interconnection would make for a better series.<br /><br />I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

His Wicked Love is a wonderful addition to the Cuffs and Spurs series. The storyline is believable and interesting and the characters are developed and opinionated. Emily the new chef and Mason one of the owners of the Elkhorn Lodge play a cat and mouse game with chemistry that is off the charts. However, learning to trust after being hurt can be a challenge. With a lot of fun, love, spanking, erotic sex, a roller coaster ride of emotions and some twists and turns within this story it is a must read 5 star book! I highly recommend reading this great addition to the series and can't wait to read the next book. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.<br /><br />Emily Fox goes to Wyoming to work as a chef at the Black Elkhorn Lodge and Resort. When Mason sees her he is thrown for a loop the way she made him feel.His brother Cole was also there to meet the new chef. Cole was also checking Emily out also. Emily was feeling tired from the drive and the nasty road food. Also, she didn't know why she didn't like Mason but made her blood boil. Emily makes lunch for the owners and they were amazed a how good it tasted. Mason was having a hard time being around Emily she seemed to irk him Emily decided to change the menu slightly but she found out she had to clear it with Mason. Cole and Mason are heading to the stables where they see Emily standing on the railing. All of a sudden Emily loses her footing and Mason comes to her rescue. He is really having a hard time keeping his restraint where she was concerned. Emily heads to town she goes into this bar that looked good. She sits down and had a beer she sees Cole and she follows him when he went through another door. Emily finds out it's a lifestyle bar and what she saw somewhat turned her on. She feels a big hand grab her she sees it's Mason who pulled her outside. Emily finds out the two women she works with are members of the club where Mason dragged her out. She asked them where she could go to find out about the club. Spencer is speaking with her about the rules and regulations. He would grant her temporary status so she could check out the club and to see if she fits into the lifestyle. Mason sees that she is at the club standing with his friend Garrett. Mason went over to yell at her what she was doing there she told him she had a temp membership. He told her to leave and she told him she quit. Mason and Emily finally get together and he yearned for things he knew he shouldn't. Mason's brother Cole told him that he had broken the rules and Mason knew he was right. Mason's main concern was to keep the resort going he knew he couldn't keep seeing Emily. Emily realized that Mason was keeping himself away from her so she took matters into her own hands. Emily overhears a conversation between the two men and she thinks she could help. Emily and Mason get together and he told her he would show her the lifestyle. Emily in the meantime had started to have serious feeling for Mason. Mason decided he would take her to the club and show everyone who she belonged to. Mason and Emily are going to his house when a blast from the past is sitting on his patio. Emily freaked after hearing the story went back to her cabin packed her stuff up Mason came into her cabin.Emily told him it was over because he lied to her she didn't want him to touch her and told him to get out and shove his contract up where the sun doesn't shine. She left with her suitcase and went into Jackson to spend the night. The next day she went to see Spencer someone she trusted she asked if he had any jobs opened until she found another place to work. One good thing was that they were going to get the two million dollars that Claire embezzled.<br />Mason still didn't know what to do about Emily who was still at Spence's home. Mason actually had no idea where Emily had gone whether she went back to LA or stayed in Jackson. Will Mason find Emily? Did he and Cole have to start looking for another Chef? <br />

When he commits to something, he commits with his everything he's got.<br /><br />The chemistry between Emily and Mason is so electric sparks fly off the pages. The heat they cause will have the reader overheating and in need of an ice cold shower. Hot damn!<br /><br />I loved every sizzling second of His Wicked Love. The storyline was exhilarating, the hero sexy, the heroine divine, and the passion intense. Emily arrives at Black Elkhorn Lodge and Resort with her Chef's knives, ready to start cooking. The owners are brothers Cole and Mason and they need an experienced chef to help them revive their business after being robbed by the former chef and abandoned. Emily is the right person for the job and gets right to work preparing and reviving their menu and popularity. There are sparks each time Emily has any connection to Mason, their attraction is strong, yet Mason is trying his best to keep things professional. Emily finally has a break in her work and discovers the bar in town has some secrets that she stumbles upon. There is a secret BDSM club in the lower level of the bar and she is discovered there, where she does not belong, little does she know, both Cole and Mason are Masters in the club. Mason gets his chance to teach Emily what it's like to be a sub as he flexes his skills as a Master and there is no stopping the hot steamy scenes these two get into. I loved how open and honest Emily was and how Mason gets so attached to her so fast. Mason just couldn't seem to get enough of Emily, he always wanted her it was almost an addiction. Emily was also hot for Mason and willingly gave over to his commands, sex was hot and frequent for these two. Of course nothing goes smoothly forever and outside sources screw up the perfect love affair. Emily had a great personality and was a smart cookie in both business and pleasure.<br />I totally enjoyed reading the story of the Lodge and the people surrounding the story, all of the plot was a page turning pleasure. I hope you read this and agree with me, it has all the right ingredients for a successful recipe for love.
