I really liked this book. It was a well written, suspenseful, mind teaser with interesting protagonists and plot twists that held my interest. As steeped in modern cyber-crime and advanced technology as it was, it still managed to layer a little paranormal into the fiber optics of the story line.

Well done, Ms. Week. Well done.

When I first began reading Nancy Weeks' IN THE SHADOW OF GREED, I was immediately engaged by her main character, Dr. Sarah Tu. Attentive to the point of being obsessed with her top-secret work on a cybercrime, Sarah is so engrossed in her work, she misses the time to meet her ever-patient and forgiving sister, Hanna, to go on a vacation. That lapse allows a serial killer, who has been stalking Hanna, the opportunity to torture and kill Hanna. When Sarah arrives at blood bath, her world is crushed. Driven by guilt and remorse, Sarah spends every available moment at her comatose sister's side at a rehabilitation facility. Much to her chagrin, so does Jason McNeil, a hard-bodied slab of a cop who had been trailing the serial killer.

Jason is consumed with rage over the loss of yet another woman to this monster. Hanna should have never been left to his cruel devices. Jason feels he should have arrested this animal months before. Now he visits Hanna on a regular basis and runs into the very attractive, intensely private Sarah Tu almost every time he visits. The attraction between Jason and Sarah crackles off the page, however, Sarah's ability to shut down her emotions pushes him away at every turn. At last, he decides to leave the area for a geographic cure for his heartache and guilt. However, as the saying goes, "Wherever I go, I take myself" is true for Jason, too. He could no more forget Sarah than she can forget him. Fate and the forces of evil conspire to bring them back with a bang.

No spoilers coming from me! I very much enjoyed this story and learned a lot about cybercrime without feeling as if I was being lectured. Nancy Weeks did her research and it showed. I was delighted when it went off the pure police procedural/cyber forensics track to a paranormal romantic suspense story firmly anchored in solid police work and computer sciences. This book took me for a fun filled ride with enough twists and turns to keep me flipping through my Kindle late at night. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars.

What a wild ride! IN THE SHADOW OF GREED is a smart, sexy and intriguing romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end.

The heroine, Dr. Sarah Tu, is a gifted cryptologist (think numbers) who spends her days studying coded language, cracking secret codes and protecting information. While frantically working to block a national security threat, her sister, Hannah, is brutally mauled by a serial killer. Sarah's world crashes all around her as a beaten Hannah is in a coma.

FBI Agent Jason McNeil is driven to catch the culprit. He discovers he has a connection to the coma patient that he can't quite understand. Somehow Hannah's in his head, and she's telling him to protect Sarah.

In no time, Jason develops strong feelings for Sarah, but she's too broken to act on any feelings she has for him.

Then Chapter Three comes - Wow! I won't give it away but what happens surprised me and really is what got me invested in this book. I needed to know how on earth Sarah and Jason would reach their happy ending.

And what a great suspenseful ride to that happy ending it was. As both Sarah and Jason attempt to move on with their lives in separate cities, they soon are thrust back together as an attempt is made on both of their lives on the same day. The serial killer had already been caught - so who would want both of them dead?

On the run, it's only a matter of time before they give in to their strong feelings for one another. Their love developing in the mist of danger was heightened. I was on pins and needles because I knew something bad could happen any minute.

Nancy also weaves in some really cool scenes involving Sarah's work as a cryptologist including Sarah reconstructing an attempt at their lives using number equations. I found it quite fascinating.

If you're looking for a romantic suspense that is smart, and full of intrigue, this is the one. It's easily one of my favorites this year.

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

This book has my favorite kind of storyline in it due to being a computer geek and former information systems technician in the Navy, where I worked for a few years in the Network Security field. Now I am pursuing a degree in the field currently. =)
The minute I read the synopsis of the book I knew I had to read it.
This book not only brings you romantic suspense but a look into what the most significant threat is to today's world cybercrime. People tend to forget how dangerous their computer is and what it could do and what people can actually make it do. This book makes people wake up about the concerns on what people out there can do to steal your identity and your information without you even knowing it.
I will not go into detail on the story because I feel I will give too much away. Instead, I will go over everything I liked about this book.
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to romantic suspense fans out there. You will enjoy every minute of this cyber crime thriller by Nancy C. Weeks.

What a superb plot. And an extraordinaire heroine in a field I haven't read yet, computers and math--I think my kids former science/math teacher would be geeking out right now. With a splash of the supernatural. All combinations for a great romantic suspense techno thriller.

Dr. Sarah Tu and Detective/Agent Jason McNeil have been targeted by a ruthless thug. And they have no idea why. On the run, they try to piece together the mystery while trying to keep themselves alive. Along the way the get a little help from Sarah's sister. A showdown in the end loaded with all the action I just love.

The McNeil family dragged me, I love big families. And Sarah's toughness that masks the real woman inside is endearing, she's my kind of heroine. Weeks did a fabulous job in her research in writing this book and it shone through. And I'm happy to hear Weeks has a second book with one of the McNeil brothers coming.

If everything I described above trips your trigger, then I suggest reading this book. You won't be disappointed.

I was given an ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Really enjoyed this book. Nancy Weeks succeeds in keeping the suspense high and the tension tight as mathematician Dr. Sarah Tu seeks to use all her skills to identify and stop a dangerous new Internet bot that would compromise national security.

While Sarah is working, someone attacks her beautiful younger sister, Hanna, leaving her seriously injured and in a deep coma. As Sarah feels responsible for Hanna, guilt renders her unable to respond to the attraction that flares between her and handsome FBI Special Agent, Jason McNeil, who thinks he’s going nuts when Hanna begins talking to him inside his head.

When bombs explode simultaneously, one near Sarah and one near Jason, the two come together and risk their lives to stop a dangerous international terrorist who seeks to destroy them and everything they love.

Sarah and Jason engaged my interest from the very beginning and kept me rooting for these two strong-willed, tender-hearted people as they worked through their backgrounds fought for their love. Prepare to stay up late with this one.
IN THE SHADOW OF GREED, the debut romantic suspense novel by author Nancy C. Weeks, is an edge-of-your-seat cyber thriller neatly intertwined with a sizzling hot romance between the hero and heroine of the story. There’s even a dash of sixth sense communication thrown into the mix, which ends up playing quiet an important role in the lives of the characters, even if its occurrence is never really fully explained or contemplated. Ms. Weeks had produced an exciting, face-paced read that will have you turning pages well after you should have called it a day. You simply must find out what happens next and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for future books in the series to explore the tantalizingly hot McNeil clan. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found the techno-speak easy to understand and unobtrusive, even for a cyber-idiot like me. If you’re looking for a fantastic romantic suspense full of Internet espionage twists and turns, IN THE SHADOW OF GREED, is the book for you!

***I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Nancy's debut novel is a well-written suspense that embodies family relationships, sorrow, fear and love. Dr. Sarah Tu is a strong and smart heroine and her relationship with her sister Hannah is compelling and heart warming. Sarah's love interest, Jason, is a tortured hero who doesn't want to fall in love, but can't help it.

The cyber crime story line, along with a serial killer on the loose, make for some very tense moments in this book that will keep the reader guessing what will happen next.

An awesome, fast-paced read from an author who is on the rise.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading In the Shadow of Greed. The story kept me hooked from the first chapter, awaking emotions - in particular excitement, fear, followed by an the overwhelming love expressed from one sister to the other. Suspense kept me turning pages while the underlying romance between the heroine and the detective kept me intrigued with the thrills and uncertainties of new love. I felt so close to the characters that the end made me curious about the rest. I highly recommend In the Shadow of Greed as a fast-paced and very interesting read.
