Meh. I grabbed this as an audible freebie because I usually like the author, but I found this one really boring. The narrators were good though!

Short and Sweet

This was a very short audiobook that I put on because I had a few hours to kill. It was a very cute little story. The main characters, Kristen and Cameron were both intelligent and witty. The narration was great. Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber have narrated quite a few books I have listened to in the past and both are great. I really liked the fact that this was dual POV/dual narration even though it was a short read.

Kristen is an alternative fuel scientist who is sick of people (especially her grandmother Jeanne) fixing her up with men they assume she will click with. She has been on so many bad dates that she can’t take it anymore. She loves numbers and is great at mathematics so she decides that online dating is the way to go, especially when she sees a sight that picks matches for you using an algorithm.

I don’t want to get to into the main plot, but to say Grandma Jeanne meets a nice guy at a car buying auction that she thinks is perfect for Kristen but Kristen wants none of that. Jeanne is the epitome of a cool Grandma. She is in her 70’s and refuses to wear polyester or any other of those clothes that other members of her generation seem to favor. She buys sport cars at auction and fixes them up to give to her friends so they can get rid of the Buick’s, Caddy’s and other old people mobiles.

I really enjoyed the romance and the characters in this one and give it 5 stars for the enjoyability factor. It is nice to listen to novellas on audio that aren’t prequels. You can enjoy it for what it is and not have to start an entire series.

Imagine Sleepless in Seattle for the Instagram generation.
It's like a picture of a beautiful beach on a travel blog that has been cropped to remove the sewage treatment plant.
It just feels fake.

I'm sad this was so short...

****4.5 Stars****

Lucky Suit was bloody awesome. I can't believe Lauren Blakely would tease us with such interesting characters, catchy storyline and awesome narrators for it to be so SHORT!! I could have easily spent hours...days...weeks (maybe not weeks, let's not get too crazy) with Cam and Kristen.

Kristen has been set up by her feisty grandmother a few too many times with very little success. None of the men she's dated can hold a sensible conversation, and when they do talk, it doesn't leave her satisfied. Kristen is keen to find companionship but it has to be with someone who shares the same interests as her. It's time for Gram to put away her matchmaking crown, so Kristen can find her own perfect match.

Cam is a little unsettled, and when he visits his uncle, finds that the slower pace and scenery a little too appealing. When he meets an old friend at his uncle's car auction, they have a very interesting conversation about her granddaughter Kristen. He's intrigued, but what're the chances of them having things in common? How could they even contemplate dating when he lives in a different city? Maybe he should just leave the opportunity for romance and love up to chemistry and chance.

It was such a sweet love story that captured my attention from start to finish. There was even a little curveball to spice things up. These two had such an instant attraction and connection but there were still stumbling blocks along the way.

I loved Lucky Suit but I was disappointed that it was so short. The narrators do an AMAZING job and definitely brought the story to life for me. I got a shiver up my spine when at the end it was announced that one of the additional characters was getting her own story...BIRTHDAY SUIT!! WooHoo!! I'm getting more of Cam and Kirsten and a whole bunch of other characters in Lulu and Leo's story.

There wasn't much to it, but what there was, entertained me from beginning to end.

Fluffy, light, silly audiobook involving matchmaking grandmothers, online dating, and lots of flirting. Short and innocuous. Totally not my thing, but romance fans will probably enjoy.

3.5 Stars

Super cute, and I loved Kristen's Grandma. Crafty, sneaky and full of love!

Their kisses were magical, but I wished we got to experience Kristen and Cameron having couple time instead of being told of weekends spent together after the fact. It was a short book though, so I get it.

As usual, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber's performance was a delight, and enhanced my enjoyment.

Cute book.. but nothing really happened.

Lucky Suit is one of those books that I dove into because of the author. I absolutely love Lauren Blakely and everything she writes. However, I feel like nothing happened in this book. Whether it was Kristen and Cameron having chemistry or basically saying that they will never work for some stupid reason. Overall, nothing really happened between these two.

There was no "drama" or anything that kept me on my toes. Just some grandma match making going on. Oh, and Kristen's grandma was basically my favorite character because she said the most random shit ever. Plus, she's a freaking genius for setting these two up. Even if they were stupid along the way.

Overall, I wished it was longer and that something actually happened in this audio.

This is really short and I think it's an Audible exclusive. I have no idea why that's even a thing, but hey, the investment is small (for the reader) and I've liked Lauren Blakely books before so I gave it a shot. And it's not bad. The length is about right because this couple starts off mega-compatible and have almost no bar in their way to becoming a couple. The banter is good and the side characters interesting (if a bit over the top).

So I'm going to give it four stars, though the negatives are pretty light. I liked it, but some elements didn't really work that well (like Kristen's grandma). If you're on Audible and it's still free, it's not a bad introduction to a decent author.

A note about Chaste: The relationship got to the stage where sex was the next step and Blakely skipped it. It happened and we learn generalities but nothing explicit at all. Which I consider chaste, but not everyone would make that same call. Personally, I suspect that with a story this short, it just didn't make sense to go into lots of detail on the physical intimacy. It's a good choice, I think.
