Don't mess with a wolf's pack

Awsome book. This book continues a couple of threads from Kings of Guardian book 12. After the brothers dismantling their fathers organisation the twins discovered they had a half brothers. Like always the (Kings and Queen of Guardian) do not leave family behind.

Bethanie Clark has been the victim of abuse the whole of her adult life. She has endured unspeakable horrors, now she is told to run as the monster who "owned" her had bigger monsters to answer to.

Lycos has been killing monsters for so long he has become one, now even his last convinces been cut, the last thing he wants is people around. Something time what you don't want is what you need.

Another great book in the series to be enjoyed as a stand alone, but makes the whole series richer for the back story and adding things to move forward. There are a couple of guest appearances but not many people from the main Guardian stories. As always great character development. Some important touches about the ongoing wars of the two organisations. A must have for any fan of the series as well as always a good point to start the series and backtrack from.

Guardian Shadow world?

Lycos is the much anticipated third book in the Shadow Guardian series by Kris and is an absolute must read story. Kris is also a must read author and this series and the Guardian World Series I would also highly recommend as these are some of my most favourite stories as well as characters and the hardships they have been through? Kris knows how to write a great action packed story and fills it with enough angst to keep you on the edge and on occasion secrets which keep you guessing until the end?

Bethanie and Ethan are on the run after getting instructions to leave New York and to make themselves comfortable in a safe house, that not many people know about. Unbeknownst to Lycos, his safe house has been accessed and he watches over the woman and child until one day he returns from working in the mountains to discover they are lost in the mountains and a snow storm is coming?

A fantastic story and I look forward to more in this series and the Guardian series❣️

Warning - this is a standalone. If you are looking for interactions/guest appearances from the main Guardians (the Kings/Alpha team), this is not that book. There are a couple of mentions, but that is it. Everything else in this book it strictly Shadow.

I loved this isolated tale (it deals with some of the fallout from Dixon's book). Lycos is so like the Grinch - living on his mountain with his Dog, hidden far away from civilization, not needing anyone or anything. He wasn't even all that upset when Moriah ended their arrangement (several books back). A loner with a vast array or knowledge, who is content to be alone after the his horrible upbringing and the evil that he helps to eliminate from the world (I totally love his specialty). Bethanie has had a horrible life and the only bright light is her son Ethan (half brother to Guardians' Wonder Twins as revealed in Dixon). An unexpected person sends these characters on a collision course.

The majority of the book is the development of the relationships between Lycos, Bethany, Ethan, and Dog, as Lycos hides them from the evil hunting them. Don't get me wrong, the first 3/4 of the book is absorbing and watching Lycos being dragged out of his shell makes for a consuming read. At 73% the action starts and reinforcements are called in (I am not going to lie but I was hoping that the reinforcement's book would have been done by now - got a small crush on that one). The epic list of Lycos' actions was truly awesome. A fantastic conclusion and a great setup for the next Shadow book, whoever it may be.

I've been a Kris Michaels fan ever since I read Jacob in February of 2016 and eagerly await each new release. I cannot recommend her enough. So grab her books and get ready for fall into her worlds!

Another great book in this series

In this story we meet 11 year old Ethan(Drake and Dixon’s half brother) and his mother Bethanie. They are on the run from Stratus and end up at a safe house owned by Lycos(Ryan). Ryan rescues them after they get caught in a blizzard while out exploring. After Ryan rescues them, he ends up being a real asshole to them. I truly didn’t think he would be able to redeem himself but of course he does. There we get endearing Ethan and Ryan bonding moments and steamy romance for Ryan and Bethanie. The action comes in later in the book when Ryan takes on an army to keep his family safe. Stratus is kind of confusing to me. Maybe it’s because no names are mentioned, sometimes it’s a little hard to follow along. I think I need to go back a couple of books and refresh my memory. I can’t wait for the next book!

Possibilities

Lycos has spent years in isolation, telling himself he doesn't deserve more or better, that he is happy in his loneliness. He is convinced he is broken and his 'sins' mean this is his life going forward, his history and abuse may have shaped the man he is and will definitely break your heart, but he doesn't see that the man he is has a good heart and has everything to give....to the right people...once he gets over the shock of people in his space. Dog adapts so much more quickly than him, he instantly knows Bethanie and Ethan are theirs to defend and protect and shows Lycos just how easy it is.
Bethanie is so much stronger than she thinks, she has lived through hell and survived, she has brought up the most amazing son, who has thrived despite the conditions they have lived in. Seeing the two of them grow in confidence and self worth under the care of Lycos is heartwarming. The relationship that Lycos and Ethan form is awesome, he challenges Ethan and teaches him so much, and in return Ethan shows Lycos just how much he has to give and how to love a family unconditionally.
A very emotional read that grips you from the start and keeps you engrossed until the final page, which will leave you a little sad that you have reached the end, the bonus is that you can already see what an asset Ethan will be for Guardian in the future, his intelligence and hunger for knowledge leaves no doubt he is a Guardian asset in the making. Yay!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Another Shadow sees the light when a woman and her son end up in the forest. Lycos, a Shadow, lives off the grid in a mountain fortress built by himself. When Bethanie and her son are lost he saves them. He then receives a request to shelter them, from one of the few people in the world who could make such a request.

The Shadow world and Stratus are about to intersect violently since the woman is a Stratus target. Lycos, aka Ryan, will not let anything happen to either of them. He has found a capacity for love and he will do anything necessary to save his family. We are also treated to a visit from another Shadow, whom I hope will also be receiving a happy ending of his own. The only thing missing from this story (and it's personal for me) is a visit to the ranch and a family dinner. Lycos and Bengal refer to "family functions" in the future and I hope we can be part of them.

I reiterate what I said in a previous review. I am really enjoying all of the 'Guardian' books... but I really wish that there was a proper reading order... cos... you know... spoilers... it does take some of the anticipation out of the reading when you kind of know what has/will happened/happen. Sighs. But, I am enjoying them!
