Getting worse

The “in the box” series were fantastic, couldn’t put them down. The “out the box” series again were fantastic, but the last few books are getting pretty boring. What’s the point in having a book about a woman with powers, that doesn’t actually have any powers? These books are fast becoming just another series of detective books with very little excitement. They used to be “can’t put it down”......but now you can, quite easily.

Superman: Only the Clark Kent stuff

Reading this series now reminds me of an episode of impractical jokers where the guys pitched tv shows to strangers that they wrote for each other. The point was to write a terrible idea for your opponent that they had to pitch so the strangers would not vote to watch it if it was put on air. One such pitch was Superman: Only the Clark Kent stuff. I feel like we are there and beyond with sienna. How much of this plucky girl who can stuff will we continue to get? The best parts of sienna was her war with her voices and her powers. I get she needed a humbling. Rose took care of that. Now it’s just book after book of her getting her butt kicked by some new meta only to pluckily and luckily come on out top. Can she not gain one other power somehow? One other voice in her head? Her friends and family got infinitely more powerful but she must continue to struggle as the lesser of them. Please give her something back. It grows more frustrating by the book.

As with all the "Girl In or Out of the Box" books, this is a keeper. Fast easy familiar reads with characters to love and grow up or down with. Recommend the whole 40+ books -- each has its own story to tell and you will never be bored. Read On!

Another welcome trip to the world of Seiena.

This book is firmly seated in the world of country music, with many a reference to singers and songs. Other modern-day mods to this in the real world to.
As the main story arc ploughs on, the villains of the week rich into view also making this a fast moving ride.
The way that the author carries the stories on twisting roads with humor, bangs and crashes never disapoints. Having finished this story, it's now a long long wait for the next...

I am writing this review after reading the subsequent books in this particular "season," - Dragon and Control - so I have the benefit of hindsight.

When I originally read Music, it took me much longer than usual to get through the book. I found it slow. So much so that I put off reading Dragon until after Control was released. I plan to go back and re-read with the benefit of knowing the outcome because once I got to the end of this multi-book arc it all made sense.

It's still a solid book and worth a read. I think I will like it better the second time around.

It's quite tricky to write a review for this book which is spoiler free, given that my reaction is inextricably linked to the underlying treatment of Sienna in this book.

Suffice to say, this is a story which kept me waiting for the punchline. Turns out, sometimes things are just exactly what they appear to be.

An intriguing change of pace. For all concerned.

Nicely done Mr Crane, nicely done.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Another one well worth the wait!

Thank you Mr. Crane for another great read, I love that you've given us the knowledge Sienna is still in control(ish) and Harry's back on the scene. Would love to be privy to some back log night talks between Sienna and Reed? Glad he knows what the crack is and that we're just waiting for Chalke et al to get what's coming to them..... mwhahaha (evil laugh) (can't.wait.go.Sienna) xxx

Interesting new scenario for Sienna and Reed! A more subdued and frustrated Sienna which makes us long for her chance at balancing the scale and being free to be herself again. The newer self she is finding will benefit her then and going forward. This is also an opportunity for Reed to recognize all that’s wrong and right in his life! I enjoyed this and am anxiously awaiting the climax to this story arc.

Worth the wait!

I am so looking forward to the next book, Dragon. I do wish we knew what Sienna is studio to, and how Harry is involved. I did like the story better when Sienna has her friends and brother along side her because the emotional aspect of the books were more interesting. Crane used the word "insensate" entirely too much though. But, this whole series is five stars!

Good story

As a massive fan of Robert J Crane I could not wait to get to grips with the latest instalment in Siennas life and it did not disappoint although it did not grab me as well as the previous instalments did. But still a.good story and I cant wait to finda out what happens to our heroine in the next books.
