After the crazy cliffhanger end from book one this one picked right up where we left off. Serafina is out of reach of all her men and not only do they want her back they NEED to know WTF is going on? The prison is obviously up to something and has been for years but why they want shifter babies is a unclear mystery. It doesn't help that if and when Serafina has her blood taken they may find out once and for all who she is and that can be dangerous for everyone, most importantly Serafina who is essentially illegal. <input type="checkbox" class="spoiler__control" aria-label="The following text has been marked spoiler. Serafina killing the evil corrupt Dr. was also a nice dark surprise. I mean having Fergus crawl inside him and blow him up from the inside is epic. Watching the guys assimilate in hell is also fun as most have been locked up so long they have zero ideas on what anything is especially relating to technology. The book ends on another cliffhanger but things are nearing the end game. They are finally piecing together what has been going on and who is responsible. I kind of feel a bit let down by this as the 'baddies' are mostly sight unseen throughout the book which sort of diluted the shock value for me. But I'm still hooked and ready to see how Serafina and her men will take on their enemies and find their HEA.

Unfortunately this installment didn't do it for me, I feel like nothing happened and everyone just talked and talked. A shame...I thought this story was going places. Better luck with the next one :)

A whole lotta fun.

What can I say? Great characters, fun plot, action packed and full of all the UF tropes that I could have ask for.

4 stars ⭐️

Serafina and her group has escaped from prison and now are trying to find out why this is happening. This installment drags, the plot is here but the story is to wordy. Every part of every scene does not need to be described.

Curiouser and furiouser

Sure, breaking out of prison was the top of the to-do list. But there were several more items on it. Most of them involving bloody dismemberment. Sadly, neither happy fun blood baths nor much in the way of sexy times is happening. Plots are afoot, tracking, stalking, rescues being planned, and whatever form of birth control she can get her hands on. Because knowing that someone was just actively trying to breed you like a prize poodle is bad enough without leaving an accidental stork visit as a possibility. Heck no. No prophylactics, no penetration. Thems the rules. Now to convince Hell they need to help find lost snooty elementals, stash them somewhere safe until this blows over, and figure out why this sucky supernatural breeding program is in place to start with.

Spoilers ahead.
So many scene changes and clashing statements.
*Roman can drink wine, but can't eat. Yet he can tolerate herbs? That's vegetable matter. Why not a salad then?
*They only want a demon hybrid, but they're still letting the other women be used for babies? If they need a demon hybrid explicitly, what good is a warlock hybrid? Doesn't make any sense.
*One minute they're naked, the next eating burgers, off to a meeting, then she's saying she hadn't seen him naked before. Uh...what?
*Amd's powers manifested as a red cloud before. His alternate form was black with silver. What was the purple glowing eyes about?
*Previously mentioned sexy drought was 8yrs. Then it was a few weeks.
*Fergus has been shown off to so many people now there's absolutely no way that news isn't going to spread about their illicit bond.
*If his family was so against hybrid breeding, why is he suddenly so gung-ho about it now? Wouldn't he be more interested in trying to snag continuous demon blood samples instead? They know the gas from the mushrooms works on anyone. Gas the one who started all this and either lock him up till it's resolved or drain him for samples.
*Can Fergus be a guardian if he's corporeal again? Because, then it's just taboo interspecies mating instead of some major guardian/charge breach of whatever.
*Also, he had to die to become a guardian, how does that make wishing him back into being work? Can fae come back from the dead?

I have more questions but I finished this at 3am lol. My brain is mushy.
The editing was worse this go round. Even more dropped words, random floating quotation marks. And why is someone who was a booted around foster turned street rat talking like a refugee from the middle ages? I'm sure with a GED at 16 she's no slouch in the brain pan area but she's a product of the modern age. Where are the contractions? The dangling participles? The relaxed syntax?

Serafina was take one night by the doctor and he performed an exam, he did other things as well. He made it so Serafina didn't remember. Fergus and Roman woke everyone to tell them what happened. They decided that they needed to move the time line up. They enlist Charley again to remove what the doctor did to her, so she can regain her memories. They make a plan to not only take care of the doctor, destroy the research but also escape.
Amduscias take them to his castle, where the people are really happy to see him. They fill him in on what happened while he was in Scorchwood. He realizes that Bael is still the same man, he gets everyone to get ready to meet the King. So they can tell him their stories and make plans from there. Fergus gives them what he found on drive. He will keep investigating.

This just a basic outline of what happened, I recommend you reading this book. There is a lot I left out. This book starts off right in the action and there is so much that goes on. With the prison, Serafina, her guys and her father. The ending chapters of this book, will change everything. There are some really steamy scenes in this book. Yes, it is a reverse harem, but that doesn't nothing to take away from the story at all, it adds to it. I recommend reading this book/series, if you haven't already started.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I may have said this before, but I will say it here and now, I absolutely have a love/hate thing about the way each of these books ends, and this second book in the Scorchwood Supernatural Penitentiary series by J.B. Trepagnier is definitely no different. That being said, this story certainly contained more of the fiery sexual action in this reverse harem story involving a demon, a wolf, a vampire, and a half-fae fiery female and her guardian spirit, and, oh yeah, there was also plenty of action and suspense in the dreary and dark prison portion as well. What will probably strike most readers at first is the author's defining vision of what hell looks like and the characters found within. Let me just say, all is not as we have believed for most of our lives about demons and other realms, both good and bad. I am so looking forward to the third book in the series, although I am saddened in that it will be the end of this delightfully entertaining and titillating series. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout.

This book seemed like it had the momentum to go some where, but sadly just stalled. They make it out of prison, find out why they are getting experimented on, go to hell, and . . . really don't accomplish much. This is more of a filler book. Full of sexual tension. Trying to get the guys up to date on the modern world. It feels like it was just setting the whole scene for the next book -- move characters into place, creating drama and some suspense for the final chapter. Don't get me wrong there is some plot to the book and it is entertaining, but it doesn't bring anything to the series plot as a whole until the last chapter.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This second installment of the Scorchwood Supernatural Penitentiary is fantastic! The story of Serafina and her men continues as they manage to find out what was done to her in the lab. They make their escape from prison and safely into Amduscias's home in Hell. Though much has changed since he's been in prison, he finds his mentor Bael has not and he agrees to help them unravel the plot Serafina's father has made. The more they learn, the more confusing things get. They find out several things are not as they should be and in the end Serafina's father finds her and the story he tells is one none of them expected.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Need next book in series NOW!!!!! Do not want to wait!!!

This maybe a RH book but that is secondary to the intrigue that is wrapped around this series. At least to me. So do not let the romance or RH category stop you from reading the series.

I admit that I read the books for the intrigue. I cannot figure out what is going on. Why is someone doing something? What will happen next? And when you think you have that possibly figured out, a new element is added to make you question it all over again.

I have to say that the author has come a long way from the first book I ever read of theirs. The writing and intrigue / suspense has great job!!!!

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
