Lyric and Jameson have known each other since they were little, but they have never been real friends. Lyric had a crush on Jameson once, but she hates his reputation and so she keeps her distance from him. Lyric goes to college and she’s surprised when Jameson walks into one of her classes. Jameson needs Lyric’s help with one of his classes. She hesitates to help him, but he can eventually convince her. Lyric and Jameson spend a lot of time together, studying and not studying. They become great friends and that friendship slowly becomes more.

Lyric and Jameson are amazing characters! Lyric is smart, caring, independent, determined and passionate. She loves music and she has a talent for it. She can’t wait to have a career in it. Lyric was hurt when they broke up. She was shocked when Jameson reached out to her after years and she wasn’t sure what to do, but a part of her wants to see him again.

Jameson is determined, funny and talented. He has a reputation, but he changes when he really meets Lyric. She will be the only one he wants. He has never forgotten her all those years and he definitely wants another chance with her. He would do anything for that chance. Jameson has never been real close to his father, but he’s there when he needs him.

I liked the secondary characters a lot. They made me laugh many times. Jameson’s friends were great with Lyric and they just accepted her. All the friendships were really great.

Reckless Love was my first read by J. Saman and it won’t be my last. I enjoyed and loved this book! I was hooked after the prologue. I already felt the love between Lyric and Jameson, and I wanted to know their history and future. I loved how their friendship started and developed. I also loved the love between Lyric and Jameson and how it hadn’t changed during those years apart.

-- My honest review is based on a copy provided by the author. Thank you! --

They grew up together as satellite friends, but when Lyric looked up to see Jameson entering her college classroom, not only did she risk her true identity being outed, she risked losing her heart to the brash, “I want no-commitments,” man that stood before her.

Keeping their relationship in the “friends” zone was like walking a tightrope without a net. As they both deny falling for the other, their relationship deepens, but graduation brings career goals on two different coasts. Can their feelings survive the miles and the ambitions that stand between them? As Jameson crumbles from the pressures of a lofty startup company, he pushes away from Lyric, never realizing he is cutting his heart from his body.

Four years will pass, thousands of regrets for Jameson, a river of tears for Lyric and one shot at earning back the love of his life. Can Jameson prove he is not the manchild who walked out on the woman of his dreams?

Lyric has tasted the success of her career dreams, she is sadder, but wiser, but is she strong enough to resist Jameson coming on like a freight train? One burned, twice shy…but Fate holds their future in its hands…

J. Saman’s RECKLESS LOVE is a fresh, if painful take on risking one’s heart more than once to capture the prize. It’s a story of the coming of age of one’s heart, a twisted tale of a simple love gone wrong because of fear. It’s that fairytale romance where the handsome prince and the beautiful princess fail to find their happy ever after…the first time. Will they find it the second time around?

Ms. Saman doesn’t sugar-coat her romances. She fills them with raw emotions, flawed characters and bad judgement calls. She creates unintentional villains we can’t help but root for and heroines we can only hope are strong enough to see beyond their pride while keeping both eyes open.

Fabulous, fabulous reading! Hey Everyone!!
Reckless Love is a steamy second chance, friends to lovers romance told in first person duel POV with an HEA. It's set to release on 6/22!
Check out the Pre-Order now!
Amazon US ~ https://amzn.to/2pT730f
Amazon UK ~ https://amzn.to/2pQ0pc8
Amazon CA ~ https://amzn.to/2GDb1EZ

Sneak Peak!
Time to go.
The party is for the baseball players. Our team captain, a senior by the name of Jonas Oswilder, lives in a big off-campus house with a few of the other senior baseball players. It’s why he’s standing on his kitchen table, which looks like it’s about to snap under his weight, with a red plastic cup in his hand, yelling out some bullshit about our team. Everyone cheers and shouts.
That’s what drunk athletes do.
But I can’t relax. I can’t get into the spirit and the mood of the party. I don’t care about being here. I need to talk to Lyric and see where her head is at. We’ve been avoiding it, but with only a couple more weeks before we go our separate ways, it’s time.
The clock strikes midnight and as I turn, for what feels like the millionth time, to the front door, she walks in. Finally.

She’s smiling, taking in the organized chaos and drunken bedlam with a sense of humor.
Daria, her roommate, is clinging closely to Cass’s arm. I’m not quite sure what the two of them are, but I know it’s something. Lyric is wearing a dress that makes my cock instantly thicken in my jeans. Short. Hot pink. Low cut. Her blonde hair is down, sweeping along the crest of her shoulders now that she cut it off last month. Her lips match her dress and her eyes are bright and clear.
She might just be my fantasy come to life. My wet dream personified. My midnight magic.
She looks around the open room teaming with kids, and I watch her, waiting for the moment when she finds me. But somehow, she doesn’t. She just walks further into the party, going in the opposite direction from me. I don’t call out to her. I have a better idea for my girl.

And yeah, I just called her my girl. Because at this point, I might as well swing from the noose like I mean it. I’m done with the game I created. With the one that neither of us are particularly good at playing. I sneak back, away from the roaring scene in the kitchen, over to the bedrooms. I know which one is empty because no one dares to enter Oswilder’s room. But he’s so damn drunk and busy, I doubt he’ll ever find out.
I open the door and sure enough, it’s dark and quiet. Ignoring the scent of sweat smothered in cologne, I wait, the door partially ajar so I can see. It doesn’t take long. I hear her talking to Daria about something while Cass laughs. I’d know that crazy laugh probably anywhere. She passes by, her blonde hair swinging. I reach out, wrapping my arm around her waist and tugging her into me, pulling her into the dark room. I wink at her friends, their expressions shifting from startled to scared to amused.

Lyric yelps, but I quickly stifle her cries of protest with a searing kiss. It doesn’t even take her a full second to catch up before her hands are all over me, running through my hair, pulling up my t-shirt so she can slink her hands along my abs. I flex under her touch, pressing into her before I drop to my knees.

“You wearing this dress to taunt me?”
She nods, her head back against the wall, chin raised, mouth open on a silent moan. God, she’s so sexy. I raise up the short hem of her skirt, inch by inch, enjoying the hell out of the smooth skin of her thighs as I go. “Jesus, matching panties, Lee. You are trying to taunt me.”
I bury my face in the thin hot pink satin covering her pussy. She lets out a long moan, unable to stop it escaping her lips. Lyric gets loud if I don’t shush her, but right now, I don’t care if the whole damn party knows how good I’m about to make her feel. Inhaling deeply, I nip at her over the fabric. She’s soaked. It only takes her seconds to be ready for me.
“This is mine,” I breathe into her and she whimpers, her thighs already starting to tremble and I haven’t even gotten started with her. “No one else’s.”

“Mmmm.”

“Tell me, Lee. Tell me that you’re mine. Tell me you want this to continue.” Her chin drops to her chest and she meets my eyes, my face still right where we both want it, but I think I’ve successfully managed to distract her. “I don’t want this to end when the semester does.”

Her eyes sparkle against the light that seeps in through the seam of the door. “But—”

“I don’t care. I know it’s going to be shit. I know I won’t see you and barely talk to you. I know all of this, but I don’t want you to be with anyone else.”

“You’re willing to make that same promise? Four months apart with no other women?”
I nod, running my nose up and down her panties. “This is epically stupid. We’re going to end up fighting. We’re going to end up getting jealous and wanting things neither of us can deliver.”

I stand up because this is the sort of conversation that has to happen face to face. I cup her cheeks and hold her gaze. I open my mouth, but I can’t make the words come out. I can’t say them. I’m paralyzed. Because in this moment, looking into her eyes, I realize just how far my lies have extended. I do love this woman. Like no one has ever loved anyone before. But I can’t tell her. I can’t tell her how badly I need her. I don’t even know why. The harder I try to force words out, the more impossible it becomes.

“See,” she says, completely misreading my silence. “I don’t want to place expectations on you and then hate you if you don’t deliver on them.”
I shake my head, but still, I stay silent. Speak, dammit. Why the fuck can’t I tell her? But I know why. Because if I give her that piece of me, when this ends, I’ll end with it. How can we succeed? We’re only talking about four months, but it feels like an eternity and that’s just this summer. What about next summer after we graduate and she permanently moves to Los Angeles and I permanently move to New York City?
What then?

“No expectations,” I say and hate myself for it.
Her eyes glisten and I know I just said the wrong thing. I know it. I just indicated that I want my freedom to fuck other women when other women don’t even show up on my radar.

“So, this is ending?”

I shake my head and press my lips to hers. “Never,” I breathe against her, kissing her so she doesn’t doubt my need for her again. “We can make it work, Lee. We just won’t place expectations on our time. We’ll talk when we can. We’ll see each other if the timing works out. And come September, we’ll pick right back up.”

“Until the next time we reach this point.”

“A lot can happen in a year, baby.”

“Kiss me, Jameson. Because I’m so tired of thinking about things I promised you I wouldn’t. I’m a planner. I’m the girl who always has to be in control of a situation and I have no control over this. It’s killing me. I hate that I think about it so much. That I don’t want these four months apart to happen even though my dream job is waiting for me. But all the jobs I’m interested in are in California and I—”
I quiet her with a kiss. I kiss her so she knows I understand. That I’m not asking her to chose between her dream and me. Just like she’s not asking me to pick her over my dream. We’re so young. Just at the beginning of our lives. If we deviate from our dreams now, we don’t know if we’ll find our way back. The world is too crazy. But I meant it. A lot can happen in a year.

So, tonight, I’ll comfort her with my body. With my reticent heart.
I kiss her mouth and infuse her soul with mine. We become one and for the first time—at a baseball party in my captain’s room—I make love to her. I tell her with my body what my mouth can’t. I make promises that I wonder if I’ll be able to keep.

I guess that’s why I hate time so much. The bitch is unyielding. Can’t rewind her. Can’t speed her up or slow her down when you really want to. She’s an impenetrable force out to get you.
Lyric clutches at me, holding on tight after we finish, both of us breathing hard. We may have figured out a plan for the summer, but everything between us still feels unsettled. Shaky. Like even though we’re both giving everything over to the other person, we’re still holding everything back.

“Four months, Lee. It’s nothing. Just a blip.”
Her eyes find mine and she smiles softly, her hand running across my cheek and through my hair. I love it when she does that, and I automatically close my eyes before reopening them.

“We’ll be back in no time.”

I nod. But inside, I wonder what we’ll look like when we are.

I feel I'm on a bad streak right now, dammit.

It was really well-written yet I didn't get what I was hoping after reading the book. Sniffs! But this was such a delightful read and I think this is just me, to be honest.

4-YOU-ARE-MINE-LEE-STARS!

I just didn't get the grovel that I was opting from the male protagonist but make no mistake- he was such a good character and perfect for our dearest Lee/Lyric! I was waiting for that angst factor, making me experience goosebumps but it never came. I saw a few errors here and there but nothing major that would distract you from the story. I love second chance romances and I'm beating myself for not embracing these two when the chemistry was brewing from the very beginning!

I really, really liked how J. Saman allowed us readers to get a full grasp of how they developed their friendship in the first few chapters of the book. It was such a good, slow brew that tremendously helped the flow and pacing of their love story. It wasn't rushed but I was needed more angst from Jameson, you know? That hair-raising-I-want-my-woman-back-giddy-sending-butterflies-in-my-stomach, you know? Other than that, this was such an adorable read!

This is certainly not the last book I'll be reading from this author! Kudos, J. Saman!

Ok so it’s 4 am and I’ve literally just finished this book and I absolutely love it.

This one is a second chance romance and oh my heart. This one gave me ALL THE FEELS !!! I live for angst and this one definitely has it and ohhhh how that appeals to my Bookaholic soul.

From the Prologue I’m hooked and I could feel that this one would get to me and did it ever. Jameson and Lyric their beginning it so sweet and and I love how they got together initially it’s one of those clutch your heart and swoon stories ya know the ones that are full of romance and melt your heart. The ones that start with as soon as I saw her I knew... and they live happily ever after.

Listen don’t get me wrong I love those stories I do but I FLOVE the others one more. The ones that aren’t easy. Mistakes happen some that can tear your heart to pieces. Call me a masochist but I live for those stories. They call to me and they make me feel.

“I’m going to love you, Jameson Woods. And then I’ll get my heart broken.”

This book has those ups and downs. It frustrated me at times and I wanted to kill both of them at times for decisions made and at other times I understood that the things and events that happened had to for a reason otherwise this story might not have been what it was. And it seriously has my heart pounding. I highlighted to much in this book.

“I was reckless. Reckless with your time. With your heart. With your love.”

I loved the writing in this book, the connection between the two main characters, their story as it played out was imperfectly perfect. Real and raw and full of emotion. At this point I’m probably sounding like a broken record it it 4 am after all.

“Love doesn’t make sense. There is no perfect timeline for it.”

Gah honestly I can’t gush enough about this book. It’s takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and you can’t help but feel the story. I swear I could hear my heart beat the entire time it was so loud.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

This book drew me in from the first page. I loved Lyric and Jameson, I really enjoyed how the friendship developed first but as a reader you know what is coming.

They were great together, both in love (though it took a while to admit it) and both career driven. This is where the H was a wee bit of an idiot, not thinking and basically being a typical man lol! Lyric called him out on it and......

They do get the HEA which is great and us readers get a two part epilogue but I still wanted more! I will definitely be reading more by this author.

This book has everything and more. The writing is perfection, the story of second chance love was one that gave me all the feels imaginable; but the best thing about this book is the characters and how they were written, how they connected with each other.

Lyric and Jameson have known each other since they were small, they grew up together in the same town, went to the same school. Lyric is a free spirit and daughter of a rock star; music is her life, she has grown up loving it, being surrounded by it and now she wants a career in it. Transferring to a college that has an excellent music program she is very surprised when she see's Jameson walk through the door. There was nothing between them in school but Jameson has always held a torch for Lyric admiring her from afar, always looking but never touching. He's a typical Jock, good looking, popular and bright, all the girls fall at his feet, he would click his fingers and could have the pick of the bunch. His friends, his grades, partying and what woman he could bed that particular night were his priorities; then he see's Lyric again - six years is a long time and they have both changed.

How I loved both lead characters, but Jameson stole a little piece of my heart, what a man, I totally adored him. Lyric is an exceptional human being, artistic, feisty, gorgeous she knows exactly what she wants from life until Jameson throws her a curve ball she never saw coming.

Their story is a powerful one which takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions, with many moments of angst and even touches of humour, along with amazingly strong secondary characters which made this book just perfection and was wonderful to experience. J Samon has outdone herself and I for one will be reading more of this talented ladies work !!!

Second chance are so much more than that, and especially this one.
it's about forgiveness, following our dreams and never depend on another human being to get our happiness.
I totally fell in love with this one, i guess about the writing style i don't need to say anything more about J. SAMAN, i guess i said enough millions of times before.

SHE'S MY FAVORITE INDEPENDENT AUTHOR, AND ONE OF FAVORITE AUTHORS OF ALL TIMES!
Lyric and Jameson were in the same school all their life, but they never actually got to be close before college. When Jameson asks her to tutor him, they spend basically every second of their semester together. But when Lyric had this great opportunity to be a producer in another city, she couldn't really say no, right? that was practically her dream! And while she was working in another city, Jameson was working 2 jobs with zero spare time.
long distance relationships suck, big times! they tried to make it work, but youknow, shit gets in the way.
The Start of the story got me hooked, BIG TIMES. no slow start or anything J.SAMAN knows how to grip your attention. hard..
Character wise: you know when typically reading a romance, we all fall in love with the male character, hot with amazing personality, yeah; who would hate that?
well in this one, i had a major crush on Lyric, the main female, i loved her. Actually i adored her name. it's so beautiful right? i can see myself naming my daughter lyric. yeah but that's too hors-sujet to be true.

she was fierce, nothing got in her way. her dreams come first. and that's what i admired the most about her. her interdependency.

well, the reason why i didn't give the book 5 stars, i didn't like Jameson. not one bit.

I can't even put my finger on why exactly he's not a favorite of mine, but i just didn't like how he gave up so easily on them? i felt like lyric could be loved more.

Inevitably, we're forced to make sacrifices. It's when we sacrifice the ones we love for the things we shouldn't that changes us.

The story is written so beaautifully and authentically, the way lyric and jameson where wrapped up in a amazing love fulfilled bubble gave me all the feels.
What i like most about J.SAMAN's books that they are all relatable, or more like realistic and so close to the soul.
and this one was no different from her other books.
a real page turner.
What can i say more, just go read this book guys, go!

4.5 rounded up.

Oh, this book. This book turned me into a giant mushball of emotions. By the time it ended, I was actually glad it was over. Because damn, all those feels were exhausting but I loved every minute of it.

Jameson and Lyric have known each other since they were kids. Years later they end up at the same university. Jameson is super gorgeous and allergic to commitment and Lyric knows this. Jameson asks for her help with his finance class and the two of them agree to keep things strictly platonic and soon become best friends. Eventually, mutual attraction (which was always there) causes the lines blur and the two of them start dating. And Jameson doesn't date. Ever. But Lyric is different. As we know from the synopsis and opening chapter, he eventually breaks her heart. Ugh, knowing the entire time that he eventually breaks her heart but not knowing how was its own kind of hell. I kept waiting for it. The proverbial other shoe. I spent the first half of the book doing whatever the book version of this is:

Anyway, it happens, as we knew it would and they go their separate ways. Four years later, Jameson calls, asking her to come home and his reason is serious enough that she agrees. Jameson, knowing he messed up the first time he let her go, is determined not to make the same mistake twice. EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER ENSUES.

As always, one of my favorite things about this author is her ability to write people. The word character seems like such an understatement. I've known a guy like Jameson. And his friends. I've felt the same things Lyric felt (anyone with a broken heart has) I've had a friend just like Cass. We've all known a bitchy Saylor (that name made me scratch my head a little. But seeing as I hated the character, the terrible name worked out just fine). The characters read like people. Most romances I end up reading are largely made up of ridiculous pfft, yeah, OKAY, that would happen scenarios. You know, fantasy. Yeah, okay, that gorgeous bartender would really turn out to be a billionaire with six houses, who is ready to settle down with a wife and has a three-legged rescue dog named Bruce. Oh, and he anonymously gives millions to charity. Reckless Love had just enough reality that I could almost believe it could happen. I didn't spend the entire book rolling my eyes. Sure, Jameson seems too good to be true. He's gorgeous. Good in bed. Wealthy. Smart. Driven. Romantic. But not really. Because he also fucks up, big time. But he knows it. And he knows he wants Lyric and is determined to make it up to her and make her happy. I'm sure there are a lot of those out there. Right?

This isn't a really a plot-driven book. This about the characters and what brings them together and pulls them apart. The writing was at times melodramatic, but in many ways, that made it so much better. It was just so romantic. Jameson said the things you always dreamed someone would say to you. Things that honestly, most people would never say to another person. Only in a book. That's why it's a romance novel! This is the book you read when you are in the mood for romantic speeches and grand gestures, dramatic declarations of love and intense groveling. Plus, great sex and a H with dark hair and blue eyes.

This book is basically angsty fluff. In a good way. It's a great escapist romance filled drama and SO MANY FEELS.

Pssh, and that ending?

Oh, and P.S- Love the cover. He fit Jameson's description to a t and he was fabulous to have as a mental picture in my head.

*I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
