It was a mind fuck waiting to happen.
Cole Fletcher is a twenty seven year old FBI agent. After working for months to bring down a cult leader at a compound, he is helping with the raid, getting the women and children out. This is where Cole first sees Savannah. Savannah is nineteen and looks terrified. For some reason, she instantly trusts Cole. He gets her out of the compound and into a safe house.

Cole is taking a mandatory vacation, he hasn’t had one the full six years he has been on the force. Cole has to work, has to stay busy. He figures while he’s off work, he will check up on Savannah. There is just something about that girl, he can’t get her out of his head. He finds her in a rundown safe house. Alone. Scared. He hates the thought of leaving her there, but what else can he do? He gives her his card and tells her to call if she needs anything. It isn’t too long until he hears from her. Savannah can’t stay there any longer. Cole doesn’t know what to do with her, so until he finds a solution, he takes her home with him.

Cole has what I like to call a ‘savior complex’. He needs to help the damsel in distress, save the needy girl. Looking into his past, you will see how much of a pattern that is for him. Here is the thing about Savannah... she doesn’t need to be saved. She just needs time to heal. Adjusting to the real world after growing up in a compound isn’t the smoothest transition, but Savannah is doing surprisingly well. Cole helps her the best he can. Days pass, he knows this is only temporary, but he can’t seem to figure out what to do with Savannah. She needs him. As attracted as Cole is to Savannah, he knows he can never go there. For one, she is a good bit younger than him, and two, he would never take advantage of her and her situation. Weeks go by and the two grow closer. Savannah sleeps in bed with Cole, cuddles him, cooks and cleans for him, but the line never gets crossed. Until one night Cole goes on a blind date... after coming home, he can’t get Savannah out of his mind. He realizes how much he wants her, but he doesn’t know that she wants him just as much.

They were no longer strangers, but two people connecting from a shared loss that wounded so deeply, it never quite healed.
Cole and Savannah share a bond. And someone from Savannah’s past at the compound is looking for her. As they start to try and form a real relationship, Savannah is becoming more independent. She gets a job, gets her license. I did like Cole a lot, he was an alpha male for sure- and Savannah was strong and sweet. I thought the story had an interesting concept. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed(things with Dillion etc) but the epilogue was really nice. A good read for me.

It was so easy to lose himself in her, and he almost couldn’t believe he resisted her so long.

DIDN'T DO IT FOR ME

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW......
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FBI agent Cole is part of a raid on a cult, the leader is suspected of persuading his followers to commit suicide. Searching the premises Cole finds a beautiful young woman crouched in a corner. She seems terrified. Cole picks her up and takes her out, she seems to instinctively trust him. Days later unable to get this young woman out of his thoughts he visits her at the safe house. Savannah is not happy in the safe house, she misses the company of the other women from the cult. She's happy to see Cole. But after he leaves an incident happens, she phones Cole he immediately returns, and takes Savannah home with him.

What follows for the first 40% of the book is the mounting tension between Cole and Savannah. Stolen looks and touches. It doesn't help that they sleep in the same bed. That became a regular occurrence after Savannah's nightmares. Cole is finding it more and more difficult to resist Savannah, but not only does he feel she's too young for him, but she's totally inexperienced.

I usually like this authors books, but this one just didn't do it for me. Cole was a complex character, he means well even if he behaves like a complete idiot. Savannah is sleeping in his bed each night, but he then goes on a blind date his sister arranges and brings the woman back to his flat, and proceeds to have sex with her in the same bed where he sleeps with Savannah. Of course Savannah catches them. Then literally minutes after the woman leaves, Savannah who's upset is being comforted by Cole, when things get a little out of hand. That was a bit of a "WTF" moment for me. But worse was to come. When eventually Cole and Savannah get it on. Weeks go by, but Cole still keeps his Sunday appointments. This turns out to be with another woman he's been seeing for years. Plus Cole never fesses up, no it only comes to light when the woman turns up at his home. So not only is he an idiot, but he's stupid as well.. Then there was the constant harping on about their age difference, since when has a guy of twenty seven been too old for a girl of almost twenty! I agree she was inexperienced for her age.
So this was a disappointing read for me.
I read this a long time back but still can taste that sour flavor. So couldn’t resist myself from writing a review.
Everything was ok until he slept with another woman??. The hero seriously pissed me off. And lets not forget that our meek little heroine witnessed his action in bed. It was no relief that he didn’t ‘finish’ with other woman. It was hard enough that he went out on a date but reading their s** scene graphically and how hero was attracted to OW and half hard all night hearing her accent blah blah..? heroine lived with him and he brought another woman to their apartment (they weren’t in romantic relationship at that time) how could you cade? How could you!!
And what (super) grossed me out was, during their ‘interaction’ he tasted OW (albeit from fingers) and after she left he went to heroine and kissed her!! There was no cleaning/ cleansing scene in between. Yuck!!! I wanted to go back and confirm this but couldn’t make myself read that scene again.
And later he got pissed when heroine was noticed by another flatmate. HYPOCRITE!!!
Two days. Two fucking days that I wasted on this novel. Two days gone when I could have spent my time reading other good books. Resisting Her was rampant with outdated ideas and- and- and it doesn't even make sense!!! The story dragged on for too long. The pacing was horribly plotted.

I wanted to bash all of the character's heads through a wall. A really big wall. Preferably a wall that can fight back and punch some common sense into them. A quote featuring Butch from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series written by J.R. Ward reflects my thoughts perfectly about the characters:

Butch tightened his grip on the cell and wished there was an app that let you reach through the phone and bitch slap someone.

In this case, I wish there's an app that lets me reach through this Kindle and bitch slap the main characters for pissing me off.

Resisting Her is about Agent Cole Fletcher who falls in <s>sex-obsession</s> insta-love with Savannah, a nineteen year old, whom he rescues from a cult. Now this is where the logic fails. It felt a little...incredulous.

All that happened was that Cole walked into a room and seeing the most be-u-tiful girl evah, his dick immediately takes over his brain. Savannah's green eyes had all but hypnotised him even though he was supposed to be focused on rescuing people from a crazy leader who wants them to commit suicide. Violin music starts playing and the candlelights are dimmed, and while Cole was busy ogling at Savannah, I was busy thinking, what the hell, isn't he supposed to stop people from killing themselves at the whim of their leader or what?? Aren't they dead by now?

You get what I'm trying to say. Focus on the job, you big idjit. Another problem I had was: Savannah.

Savannah, being the "dainty, delicate and innocent" virginal heroine but is "incredibly mature for her age and is apparently a sex goddess" (No, I don't know how that really works either) falls right into Cole's arms.

Like literally she trusts Cole immediately because her instincts are telling her to. That's it. Even though she lived in a cult for seven years(?!?!?!?!?) where she was told continuously that all men wanted one thing only, and that was sex!!, she still trusted Cole. She trusted Cole enough to go to his bloody house and live there. Live there!!! After knowing him less than a hour!!

Isn't she supposed to, I don't know, be emotionally and psychologically scarred from your experiences? Having recurring nightmares of your previous boyfriend chasing after you doesn't count.. Instead she's perfectly fine and she gets a free dog whom she names Cuddles (which really, I find laughable).

Wow. Seems legit.

And then after staying in his home for a few days, Savannah suddenly transforms into this magical housewife who loves cooking for Cole and fawning and fussing over him in the day. At night, she loves to cuddle up to Cole, because he chases the nightmares away or some shit like that. Savannah needs Cole to act like her <s>master</s> knight in shining armour.

And if the characters were bad, the storyline was even worse.

It was basically Cole bringing women home and accidentally letting Savannah see him. Then this drama happens. Then it goes back to there being sexual tension between the two of them. Then Savannah finds out Cole had been visiting this creepy ex of his for every Sunday for more than five years. Drama happens, sexual tension is resolved and on to "they lived happily, ever after."

Blurgh.

3 Stars

I love you Kendall Ryan, but this wasn’t my cuppa.

Things I love:

I love the cover.

I love the narrator (I did the audio narration of this book)

I love the summary, because I love a damsel in distress.

I loved that it was short and sweet.

Things that didn’t jive with me:

The Hero, it was hard to find him redeemable (especially when he: <input type="checkbox" class="spoiler__control" aria-label="The following text has been marked spoiler. Boring. No chemistry. I can't even remember the H or the h's names, and I just finished it.

Plot: H is a federal something or other that rescues the h as in carries the herout of the compound she's been raised in. Yep, that's the rescue scenario: he carries her. He is drawn to her skinny, downtrodden ethereal beauty plus he has a serious hero complex.

He takes her home where she cooks a lot; he gets her a dog, and his sister finds out about the h. In need of comfort, she has taken to sleeping with him. Just sleeping.

Deep breath. In spite of being besotted with her, he brings home his frisky blind date for sex. The h sees them together. Once the date leaves they get frisky together. Okay, let's all say eeeuuuwww together now.

This was also more of a novella. Even taking into account the skimming, it was a very short read.

A big fat DNF.

Hero is 27. Heroine is 19. He's an FBI agent who saves her from a cult-like compound. Since she's 19, she's too old to go into the system so he tracks her down and takes her home with him. She's all clingy. Can't seem to not touch him all the time and the only time she can sleep well is when she's in bed with him. Which I find bizarre since she was raised to not trust any guys because all they want is to get in her pants. He keeps his hands off her. Accepts a blind date his sister set him up on. Brings home his date, has sex with her and the heroine sees them having sex. After the blind date goes home, hero goes to heroine's room and ends up giving her a massage and then goes down on her. WTF? Are you serious? You just had sex with someone else, sure, you didn't have your moment once you noticed heroine standing in the doorway but are you flipping kidding me? To go from that to the heroine's bed?

Helllll no. Hellllll no.

DNF.

This is not really a review, more of a note to myself should I ever wonder why I didn't like this.

Cole. FBI hottie who's married to the job. The job that sees him busting a cult and rescuing the innocent Savannah.

At least that's what you'd expect right? But for someone who'd basically only ever known life in a cult, she was surprisingly knowledgeable with things such as dodgy areas of town. Oh, that's because she was the only one allowed out of the compound to get her studdies. Convenient.

Cole is a douche. The whole mystery Sunday whereabouts gets boring real quick! I hated Cole for most of this... esp after that Sali hookup. Way to make me feel icky Kendall Ryan.

There's nothing like a guy who brings his blind date home to his house where he's basically harbouring a teenager, fucks date loudly in his bed that he shares with said teenager, then teenager stands in doorway and watches but he keeps on going... Date leaves, he goes to teenager who has no idea about sex, removes her shirt, wants him... so he strokes her back, then her lady folds before finally eating her out... all without having even washed his hands from the first chick!

Yep, that was gross.
