<b>2.5 Stars</b><br /><br />Her parents are facing debtor's prison, so she does what she hoped to never do and signs to be a mail order bride for one of the aliens who conquered earth.<br /><br />Wanted way more sizzle and spark between the MCs and for some reason the plot just didn't pull me in like I thought it would. Story needed to be more developed. <br /><br />Acquired via KU.

I don’t want to come across as rude but I sort of judged this book by the cover, but I was most pleasantly surprised upon reading this. The characters were very well written, as well as the supporting cast. The author’s writing makes the story flow very nicely, I passed a few enjoyable hours reading this.<br /><br />The Martians have taken over the earth, Esmay’s parents are in debt so to save them from prison she signs up to be a bride to a martain, he turns out to be a royal prince.

1.5 stars <br /><br />Honestly, I’ve read better, more well developed alien-takes-a-human-bride stories. This one stayed pretty superficial. Sorry.

Surprisingly interesting and fun!

I really enjoyed this fun, sexy read.<br />It was just what I needed to escape into an easy story for awhile.

Pretty good start to a series!

*spoilers* Esmay tries to save her family from financial ruin and imprisonment. Volunteering to be an aliens mail order bride is the only thing she can think of to earn her family money. Meeting Prince Vaath, who has killed many humans was not what she expected. While leering of humans, Prince Vaath knows he must have this female as his own. But a resistance may have other plans! I love how dedicated and possessive he is of Esmay.<br /><br />I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So formulaic that it could almost have been written by AI. She's young and virginal and gasps when he touches her hand and pretends she doesn't want to have sex with him. He makes a bunch of nonsense similes about her beauty that could have been copy and pasted. The dialogue is clunky, the characters are flat, and the premise is poorly executed.
