This series just gets more exciting by the book. I really enjoy the way the story is written, no nonsense and plenty of action. Finally the suspense of the vigilante is over, or is it? Really exciting read, can’t wait for the next book.<br /><br />"I received an ARC for an objective review."

Shelby and her partner Trevor are watching a speech by LAs biggest philanthropist next to his building when there is an explosion and the whole building goes down. And she saw the vigilante ride away from the scene. Hearing there are still people in the building and the emergency services are a few minutes off, Shelby decides to take it upon herself to go into the remains of the building since she knows her neighbor, Seth works there, to see if there is anyone left in there when one of the workers said her son was still there. Shelby finds the woman's son - dead, but she hears her name being called and finds her neighbor and friend, Seth. That vigilante will pay! But who is he? Who is killing people and causing havoc in her city? Her chief, Ramirez has been causing suspicion, could he be involved? With suspects adding up, and the vigilant getting away from each site he was seen at, can they catch him. With so many questions and lots of twists and turns, you just can't stop reading once you start! And once you reach the end....WOW! what a surprise you just never expected and now, what is going to happen? I highly recommend this series that keeps you drawn in from the first page. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I received a discounted electronic copy of these short police procedural novels, five in all, from the author. Audrey Walker writes a concise, compelling tale peopled with protagonists who are well rounded and very human, and her twists and turns in the plot are credible and well-executed. Taking place in Los Angeles, the joys and pitfalls of that community play into the storyline, are actually another character at play. Each tale is complete in and of itself, with a trailing tidbit leading into the next. The stories would be fine taken one by one, but I found myself binging right on through to the other side. These are crimes that could occur anywhere, and Shelby Griffin and her partner Trevor Morris are members of the Los Angeles Police Department, detectives in the Murder Squad. They work well together, though their personalities would seem to make that impossible. The play as they work together on a crime is smooth and obviously something well-rehearsed. It is a pleasure to observe them working the crime. Aubrey Walker is an author I am pleased to recommend to friends and family.<br /><br />Shelby Griffin Series Box Set included the first five of these short novels, Sleepless Night, Sleepless Mind, Sleepless Street, Sleepless Hunt, and Sleepless Shelby<br /><br />Reviewed on Goodreads January 15, 2021. This was part of a boxed set. Shelby Griffin is a detective for the LAPD. In this boxed set she gets involved with a gang war, a vigilante, someone trying to kill the homeless and a mysterious person trying to take over the city among other crimes. Could this person be pulling all of the strings on all of these crimes or are there others involved? Who is the vigilante and is he trying to help or hurt Shelby? The storylines were intense. It was action-packed with a strong heroine, a likable cast and it got you engaged rooting for Shelby and those involved in working with/helping her solve these crimes. So many twists and turns to keep you guessing. What a gripping thriller that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

This was the best book of the series so far. Shelby is getting closer to unveiling the vigilante. A bomb is set and someone close to her is hurt. The vigilante is there again. Can she save people trapped in the building and catch the vigilante while not letting the bad guy get away? Or is the vigilante the bad guy? Your questions will be answered in this installment. This was a non-stop adventure from the front cover to the last page, with a surprise ending. I received an ARC for an objective review.

This reads like one of those cop shows the Americans do so well. Or Ed McBain at his best on the 87th Precinct.<br />There are no words wasted in Audrey Walker's slick, fast-paced novella. It opens explosively &amp; doesn't slacken for a second.<br />If you were brought up on Saturday morning matinees at the local cinema you will realize there is nothing better than to end on a cliffhanger - and this certainly does.
