I'm not kidding either, this book takes place over twelve years, TWELVE YEARS, if that isn't a slow burn I really don't know what is.

I love a good friends-to-lovers romance and this one was just what the doctor ordered. Auggie met George when he "bumped" into her at a coffee shop then again at a college party. The chemistry was there right at the start and after a kiss they, well actually George, says she just wants to be friends. YIKES Auggie was Friend Zoned almost immediately but you know what, it's what they both needed.

I really loved watching their friendship bloom but I will admit there were times I was frustrated that Auggie didn't notice that George's feelings were changing.....can I say typical male without pissing anyone off?

Claudia Burgoa is a favorite author of mine I love just about everything she writes, my one and only discontent with this story was that the slow burn burned so slowly we didn't have nearly as much sexy time as we normally would have had which is sad because Auggie and George really needed more sexy time together.

If you enjoy a good friends to lovers romance, or even a romance that revolves around food, because I'll tell you there was a whole lot of cooking going on and it had me hungry all the time, I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

You can see this and other Reviews I have written along with various cover reveals, excerpts, and giveaways here Nadine's Obsessed with Books

Love doesn't come easy for George (Georgia) and Auggie. But friendship does. This is the slow-burn magic of a missed opportunities story that Claudia Burgoa provides to readers.

The author gives you a look at how the two grow up and never are on the same page at the same time when it comes to falling in love. We get to see them have all their dreams come true except the one in their hearts. It's 12 years of supporting each other and their dreams. However, something holds them both back to admitting what everyone can see happening before their eyes. When people say with age comes wisdom -in Auggie and George's case - with age comes recognizing your soulmate.

I love Ms Burgoa's storytelling takes the best of finally coming to your senses for the hero and heroine to get their happily ever after.

Advanced Reader Copy Review

This story is an absolutely beautiful slow burn. From the very beginning I was drawn into this story. It's prologue is set in the present day, but that not where this story starts.
Its an almost clean romance that despite what you may be thinking had no cheating.

Auggie is absolutely clueless, through out the whole story there is so much love shining through. Even though he thinks that he doesn't deserve it and that he will never be good enough it is painfully obvious he is in love with his best friend. tak
George is almost as clueless but in a different aspect, when it comes tough decisions, it's hard for her to see what the outcome may look like. The attraction for her isn't as as obvious until she leaves to go explore talents she never knew she had. It's sorta like a "it creeped up on you" moment for both the character and the reader, but when you see it, you can't miss it throughout the rest of the story.

This story focused not on the psychical aspects of a romantic relationship, but more on the platonicness that was their friendship and the bond they formed a twelve year span.

I dug this concept, there was enough in each year for you to know and understand exactly who these characters are, previous relations are discussed but never explored because they don't matter. What you get is the important parts of Auggie and George, to know where they are headed and to use your imagination to explore the potentials of those years. I love that everything isn't laid out for you.

Claudia has done an epic job with this story and you wont be disappointed, or at least I hope you wont, cause I personally loved it.
That said, because it involves another man and all that. Kind of was a little scared to jump in, triangles are one of my triggers. Luckily this wasn't to the point where I couldn't read it.
It was a little different for me, I unfortunately couldn't connect to I don;t know if it was the characters or the story. Either way, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, it was just a little different for me...the tone.

Auggie is a man who took it slow, didn't believe and put it off...until the end when he now not only didn't have a chance again but time was not on his side. So he set's out to be the best for HER and show her that now he is serious. George or Georgie is, I don't know how to express her. She is very indecisive, and of course smart and beautiful yes. Reflective and I feel for her because of the choices she had to make...it's a very VERY SLOW burn, it more focuses on the friendship aspect because they have been in each other lives for over a decade. Basically you get the whole story, all the years and all the information you'd want.
If you want slow burn, angsty, friends-to-lovers, little bit of a triangle, and lot's of laughter. This story is an awesome slow burn best-friends to lovers' book with its own unique twists and turns to it. This story is told over the span of 12 years.

Georgia Jones, or George as she is known to everyone, leaves home to go to college. This is where she meets Agustin Beltran, or Auggie as he is known by friends and family. Their first meeting is not a great one, their second starts off bad as well. But as they sit and talk, they just click forming a mutual bond over food. George is lonely and in need of a friend she can count on, and Auggie agrees to be that friend.

Their friendship continues to grow over the years into something remarkable. They are there for each other, they read each other like no-one else can. It is amazing to be able to be in the moment with them and enjoy how their relationship develops. As the years go on, Auggie pushes George to become a chef knowing it is her calling.

Over the years the relationship between Auggie and George goes up and down, pushing and pulling. One falling for the other without the other knowing. While George is away for culinary school, she discovers that she is hopelessly in love with her best friend. It isn’t until years later that Auggie has this same realisation. But it is too late, George had already given up waiting for him.

I have never wanted to kick a character in the butt before, but boy... did Auggie need a swift kick. He buries himself under so much work he can barely breath. He is blind to the fact George and him are PERFECT for each other, until it is too late.

I love that this story isn’t heavily focused on the physical romantic love between the two characters. It is more about the friendship they share. The fact that regardless of what happens they are there for each other no matter what.

The final chapter and epilogue of this book are a fantastic conclusion to the story. It felt like a natural progression for the two characters despite what is going on around them and really between them.

Received an ARC for honest review

Sometimes love comes so furtively that it can go unnoticed, even if the signs are in front of you, blinking almost imperceptibly and increasing over the years.

Auggie and Georgia are two people who meet accidentally. Then they meet again "casually." In the first meeting it was not good at all. Georgia has a wrong perception of Auggie, which changes in the second encounter and gives way to a friendship that grows with each passing day. A sublime and solid friendship. The kind of friendship where you meet your close family, which becomes yours.

Both feel so sympathetic that they share all their dreams, worries, the events of daily life, their fears and insecurities, their triumphs and failures in all areas. They feel that nothing is missing because they both fill all the spaces in their lives and hearts. One day Georgia decides to meet a goal and leaves on the other side of the continent. That separation is enough to realize that feelings of friendship have grown to become something else. Because without realizing it, Auggie got under her skin and conquered her heart.

I loved Auggie's personality from the beginning. It is lovely, cheerful, adorable. Georgia is a bit shy but independent. Although I can describe the story as a slow burn romance, I think it took a long time to realize that they had fallen in love. Even so, you will love this best friends to lovers story like me.
This story is truly the art of the slow burn.

This story takes place over 12 years, but the flow and the rhythm of this story is beautifully done! The characters are so well written that you feel like you truly know them.

This is the story of Auggie and George, this is their story of friendship that is honest and true and not always hearts and flowers. They meet in college and they grow together and sometimes apart over the years. I loved how their friendship trumps everything. I admired how both Auggie and George only wanted each other's happiness even at the expense of their own feelings.

I was rooting for them throughout the story, I was also wanting to shake both of them at times and tell them to see what is right in front of them. But it took years and growth, on both their parts, to finally realize what their friendship truly was!

Family means everything to these two and I loved how even the secondary characters play such a phenomenal role in this story.

Ms. Burgoa never fails to amaze me with her writing talents! This is such a well rounded, well-written story about the true meaning of friendship and family.

This was a slow burn, like snails pace friendship that results in something by the end (90%!!!) I wouldn’t call this a romance because it just took eons to get to any semblance of heat between the MCs. I loved Auggie and George so much and wished this story was done differently so I could enjoy them together together. We spent the majority of the story in the past and could of used lots more time in the present. Side characters were great. There’s lots of cooking in this and I took away a great recipe! Yum. 2.5 stars.

Burgoa doesn’t simply tell a story. She captures the reader with spellbinding prose, propelling her into an enchanting book world, and takes her on a journey, one that is touching, poignant, heartfelt and rich with emotion. It’s impossible not to fall in love with her characters and feel like a peripheral character yourself as you follow the bumps and twists along the way. And Auggie and George's story certainly has more than its share of twists and turns.

Their story starts for us long before romantic love enters the picture. We meet them when they become friends in college and follow their friendship for the next twelve years. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, twelve years, with them knowing they were in love for several of those years and not speaking a word of it to each other. If they'd bought a clue they could have saved themselves a few years of pining. But nooo, they had to dither around, always a step out of synch, tearing my heart out along the way and ripping it to shreds before it was all said and done. And I loved every minute of it!

I’m not sure the last time I spent the majority of my reading time in such agony with a maniacal desperation to finally get the H/h together! There’s something so beautifully flawed and human about these two characters that effortlessly endears them to the reader, and I’ve never rooted so hard for two characters to find their forever. It was clear to everyone around them that Auggie and George belong together, and I’m not sure how much torture my heart could take.

But thank heavens for romance, because we know that guarantees a happy ending. Auggie and his Georgie Girl definitely get theirs, together of course, with family held close and living their dream jobs as they begin their ever after. Angsty and heart rending but heart warming and satisfying, don’t miss this captivating, emotional, phenomenal story. Your heart will thank you.
