This is my first Autumn Reign book and it was very well written. The story is about a surgeon working in a new town and treating a client who is not what he seems -- and by that I mean he's not human. Ryder is used to coming through the ER after a scrape up and he finds Maiya enigmatic but also quite funny because the dots don't connect with her at first that he's a werewolf. She ends up getting in the middle of what seems like a turf war and has to comes to terms with a world beyond humans but also her attraction to Ryder.

I mostly enjoyed reading this story. It was short and face-paced and kept a good vein of mystery. The one intimate scene was quite spicy. However, the one thing that was not working for me was Ryder's accent. I understand he's a southern Cajun but the reading effect was too over the top for me. I won't say what it sounds like he talks like because it'll offend ppl but it definitely turned me off quite a bit. I would love to dive deeper into this world but I don't think I could take a full novel of that type of speech. If this doesn't bother you, definitely give this paranormal a whirl! It's on Kindle Unlimited.

This is the first time that I remember reading Autumn Reigns book. She is a great writer and she could be the next and up coming Christine Feehan if she keeps writing like this. This story involves wolf shifters and a resident Dr. I loved this book and cannot wait to read her next book.

Werewolves, Cajuns, and detectives... oh my! This was a very interesting start to a series. Does end with a cliffhanger. Getting used to how Ryder speaks. Can't wait to read the next one.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Noooo why did it need to be soo short! And just when it was getting to the good part too. Jeez. The simmering heat, romantic vibes and all the action was great. I seriously hope that's there's more than this in store for this story.
Maiya left the big city behind her to pursue her residency as a surgeon. But she honestly thinks she made a big mistake doing it out in a little town in the middle of no where. That is until she meets a man named Ryker.

Maiya Jones left Chicago behind and now lives in a small town on the outskirts of the Louisiana bayou. Maiya is a Surgical Resident working in the ER; not her favorite place because dealing with the scammers who were trying to get more opiates when they went through their prescription too quickly annoyed her. She had to admit that she missed the fast pace of Chicago, while time just dragged at this little parish hospital. Even nearby New Orleans wasn’t enough of a city to make her feel at home.

Suddenly a nurse, Carrie, came into the ER sputtering about them bringing someone to their hospital. And just then the paramedics wheeled in a patient covered in a bloody sheet. She knew he was seriously injured, but missing chunks of skin and jagged flaps did surprise her! It was an even bigger surprise when she identified them as bite marks! What had attacked him? With the nurse refusing to touch him, and the paramedic saying not to bother since he obviously wasn’t going to make it out alive, Maiya was beginning to get angry. They must at least TRY to save him! But as she stitched him up, he started to heal! And his vitals were all stabilizing on his own! His eyes opened when he should still be passed out! And he tried to get up, but Maiya kept her hands firmly on his chest holding him down. He was pulling off all the wires monitoring him, then he suddenly stood up right in front of her, towering over her, well over 6 feet tall! Something about him seemed to draw her to him. His name was Ryder Breaux, one of the Cajuns living on the outskirts of town. He left the hospital and her shift was over. But again she felt like eyes were following her every time she walked to her apartment after work.

The next day Carrie went to a local restaurant on her day off. A woman with yellow eyes like Ryder’s sat next to her and wanted to trade phone numbers! When the woman went to the ladies room, Carrie hurried out the door but is grabbed and pulled into an alley before she gets home. A loud voice yelled out and the attacker disappeared. When the rescuer helping her to her feet turns out to be Ryder, fully-healed, she panics at the odd tension in the air again at seeing him! What is this strange connection? And why does she start to feel so comfortable with him as he walks her home? What was that amused grin she saw as she slid into her apartment and slammed the door in his face? And why did Detective Mark Simmons show up the next day to question her?

Maiya left the hospital out into the alleyway again but, as the door slammed behind her, she felt the breathing on her neck and spun around, raised fist and pointed keys poking from her fingers. She recognized Addie, the yellow-eyed woman from the restaurant, just in time to pull back her fist. Addie was nervous, telling Maiya she had to get back inside right away! But before she could, a loud growl sounded and an enormous wolf stalked toward them! Addie actually growled, as if a human growl could scare off a huge wolf! She shoved Maiya behind her, but another huge wolf appeared and fought with the brown wolf threatening them. When the brown wolf bit down on the gray wolf’s throat, Addie dove forward and turned into a wolf! The brown one hurt her, then ran as if her howl would draw attention. Werewolves??? What is going on here – and will Maiya be able to survive?

This was such a terrific story, keeping the reader completely focused as the story line played out and the characters became more real! (I may have whimpered when the gray wolf was held by the throat!) The excitement is palpable, and seeing Maiya’s feelings developing toward Ryder gives hope that she will figure everything out soon and perhaps find a love interest in her new town? Grab your copy and enjoy this wonderful book. It won’t let you down!
I loved Autumn's first series (Ember Abyss wolves) and this series looks like it is going to be just as good if not better. The story flows well there is plenty of heat and drama and it keeps you engaged all the way to the last page.

Maiya Jones used to be a trauma surgeon at a Chicago hospital but she has recently transferred to a parish hospital just outside New Orleans and she is bored the hardest thing in her day is dealing with people trying to get extra scripts after using all their narcotics That is until the night a man is brought into the Er he appears to have been mauled by some large animal with bite marks and chunks missing from all over his body Maiya is disgusted when everyone refuses to treat him saying he will die anyway Determined to do her best she starts to stitch him up but his stunned when he starts to heal in front of her eyes and then stands up and tries to leave. Who is Ryder Breaux after he leaves the hospital Maiya finishes her shift and goes to leave but has the feeling someone is watching her and that feeling continues When she is attacked a few days later by a wolf another large grey wolf comes to her aid imagine her surprise when it turns out to be Ryder and what is the connection she feels with him. Yes this book ends in a cliffhanger so we will have to wait to see what will happen with the Cajun werewolves

Stalked by the Rogue Wolf: Cajun Werewolves of the Bayou (Paranormal Medical Romance Book 1)
By Autumn Reign
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

The story begins describing the present-day situation of a twenty-four year old Surgical Resident, Maiya, situated in the outskirts of Louisiana. She moved recently from Chicago and is seriously questioning her decision as things don’t feel quite right, never being able to shake off a sensation of fear when walking home after a shift.

Her day is like any other day in the ER when a patient is rushed in, a mysterious “ John Doe “, suffering from a serious extent of injuries and basically on the verge of death. We later discover that this character is the stunning cajun, Ryder Breaux. The story escalates from there, in more ways than one, her life turned on its head. Werewolves don’t exist…do they?

My overall thoughts on this book : This is a fast-paced read beginning with conflicting emotions. Maiya is well aware that Surgical Residents deal with “ high-anxiety surgeries and general sutures not other-worldy dilemmas “. But how can she resist in the presence of Ryder? This is an exciting short story, little steamy towards the end. Maiya and Ryder definitely have a connection, looking forward to see where this goes in Book 2!
ONE NAILBITING BLOCK BUSTER!!!
Buckle up! Autumn delivers one unbelievable approach with such fervor and style, thrusting this baby into the eye of the storm blowing it into a tailspin with a life altering, mind-blowing culmination. Sparks fly as drama, misgivings, intrigue, underlying threats and mounting suspense spirals, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. Toss in turmoil, distress and perplexing situations along with a boatload of danger, you have one block busting adventure. Seizing the moment, traversing the trials and tribulations, along with shocking twists, sharp corners and thin lines, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The personalities are well matched and blended with enough flaws for diversity. Quick intense read! Maiya and Ryder area hot mess as Ma Titi would say... and Addie seems like the kick-ass female alpha in the story. It ends too quickly for me cause now I'm confused and wondering who's watching our Maiya and why Ryder didn't notice!? Well here's to waiting for book 2! Nurse Maiya meets Ryder in the ER room and then again on her way home in the alley path behind the hospital. Surprise werewolf meets human....of course nurse wants to fix up Addie even after watching her turn into a werewolf...go Maiya! The heat is fast n quick...like I said a lot packed into this quick intro to this new world! Looking forward to it!
I received this as an ARC review from the author in exchange for a review....wahla! Loved it Ms. Reign!!!
