Levi, Leslie and Dawson have been best friends since childhood. Levi has been in love with Leslie forever. Leslie fell in love with Dawson, but on the day the two were to be married, Dawson was killed in the line of duty. After that, Leslie left her hometown of Wild River, Alaska, for Los Angeles, to work security detail/bodyguard to celebrities. Leslie hopes to leave her past and painful memories behind her, including contact with best friend Levi. Levi remains in Alaska missing his best friend (and love of his life) like crazy. When Leslie’s current client, Selena (former Disney child-star and now queen of romantic comedies) picks up a dangerous stalker, Leslie heads back to her Alaskan hometown to hide the starlet away. When Levi learns Leslie is back, he wonders if he might finally get his chance with Leslie, despite the painful memories the two must overcome regarding Dawson.

This was such a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable read. I really loved the characters in this one. Levi is one of Alaska’s elite group of wildland firefighters. I totally felt for him suffering from his unrequited love for Leslie—loving her forever, and her not returning his feelings. I liked Leslie’s occupation and thought bodyguard/security detail to the stars was an interesting profession. And Selena really made the book for me. Her character added so much to the story and provided a lot of fun. The ski-resort town of Wild River, Alaska, provided a great setting. The story was emotional, cute, fun and had some sexy love scenes. Overall, this was a wonderful read.

That's it. I probably need to stop reading this series. The tropes that Snow indulges in are the worst ones for me to read about in romance books. I hate the dead best friend/brother/sister to loves trope. Just no. Stop it. And I absolutely hate the exboyfriend/girlfriend to lovers trope. My sister would kill me dead for dating and ex and vice versa. The books either have highly unrealistic reactions to said dating, or people are super okay about it. Stars Over Alaska indulges in the first trope and I was bored senseless. I was really hoping to get into the character of Leslie since she showed up in the prior book, but honestly I didn't like her throughout the book. She acted like an ass to her mother (for really dumb reasons I thought) and then acted like an ass to the star she was supposed to be protecting. The romance side of things felt forced and unrealistic.

"Stars Over Alaska" follows bodyguard Leslie Sanchez as she runs back to Wild River to hide the woman she's supposed to be protecting from a deranged stalker. Leslie thinks going back to Wild River will allow her some time to regroup. But dealing with her family and the long simmering "tension" between her dead fiancée's best friend Levi Grayson are making things more complicated than it should.

Sorry, I am literally laughing and sighing her. So first off, it makes zero sense that Leslie would go back to Wild River. She hates going back there and she won't speak to her mother. Literally when you find out what the falling out was between Leslie and her mom I was on team mom's side frankly. Also how Leslie show Selena (the former Disney childhood star now Hollywood actress) started to bug me. She saw her as being selfish and self absorbed and I maybe laughed a few times. I actually liked Selena who seemed to have a better head on her shoulders than Leslie and kept calling her out for how she was treating everyone around her. Levi and Leslie made zero sense to me. We read a lot of why Levi has always had feelings for Levi, but it was all a bit....really her after a while. Cause I didn't see anyone that I would be putting up with for longer than 10 minutes.

The big stalker plot line was a snooze for me. We have some resolution with that, but honestly, you can figure out who the stalker is in five minutes just by process of elimination.

This book was weird though since you get a bonus story in here called "A Wild River Match" and it follows Mike Toldeo who is forced to do a Valentine's Day camping trip with several potential couples. Maddie Frazier is on this trip, but only because her sister talked her into it and she's supposed to be meeting a potential match during the trip. Things go south when the guy doesn't show up and she's forced to share a tent/igloo thing with Mike who is her sister's ex-boyfriend. Of course sparks fly. I refuse to even get into the ins and outs of this story because I just shook my head and said this makes no sense like 10 times.

One thing I noticed is that this book was really the dividing line for some Wild River readers. I keep hearing eh about the latter books, so don't know if I will continue on with this series or not.

Stars over Alaska

Lesli was annoying.
I liked Selena better, and that was a person I would normally not be friends we with, so to say

Levi was perfect.

Eddie seemed like a different guy, I didn't recognized his character from the last book.

Took a long time to get into this book. Heroine annoyed me so much. Had to put this book down several times and read another book in between.

I liked Levi. He deserves a better heroine. He and the secondary character Selena (So excited that Selena will get a book too. YAY!) were the only enjoyable parts of this book. Also catching small glimpse to previous characters was nice.

My least favorite book of this series.

4,5 Sterne

This was the only story that I really struggled to finish. I didn't care about the main characters, but have loved this series up to this point.

Leslie Sanders left Wild River when her police officer fiancé, Dawson, was hit and killed by a criminal he was chasing. She is working in LA as a protection agent and is working as a bodyguard for a young starlet, Selena, who has picked up a dangerous stalker. Fearing for her life and also that someone on the inside is giving away information, she returns to her hometown of Wild River to hide out in the family cabin. She tells no one where they are going except her boyfriend and co-worker. When the cabin burns down, she comes face to face with her best friend from her childhood as well as the best man in the wedding that was canceled. Levi is a firefighter, rescue worker and he is called out to the fire. He has had feelings for Leslie for most of his life but was happy his two best friends loved each other. Now, those feelings are about to cause complications. Is this his second chance at a relationship beyond friends with Leslie.

Stars Over Alaska is an entertaining and enjoyable story. I really liked the characters in this one, including the secondary ones. Levi is one of Alaska’s elite group of wildland firefighters, putting his life on the line and determined not to get involved with a woman. I felt bad for him and his unrequited love for Leslie. Leslie never knew how he felt about her, as he never told her. She also had feelings for him, but when he never acted like he cared about her as more than a friend, she began dating Dawson. I always like when the female characters work in professions that have long been considered male roles and do a great job. Leslie’s occupation as a bodyguard/security detail to the stars was a great job and was an important part of the story. Selena, was such a hoot. She began the story as a spoiled, whiny starlet, but she did grow and change as the story progressed. She was also very interested in getting to know people and added a lot of humor to the book. I have enjoyed the setting of Wild River and getting to know so many of the characters that lived there. There is a bit of steam in this one, but it can be skimmed if that is not your thing. Once again, Melissa Moran. narrated this audiobook and I felt her expression, tone, voice and emotions added to my enjoyment of the story. I recommend this book and series in either format.

I enjoyed this story. For the remote Alaska cabin. The best friends reconnection. The drama was a little much sometimes, but it was a fun story and I’ll have to delve into the rest of the series now. ALASKA.

4.5 stars. Wow that one was seriously heartbreaking but great in the end. The villain was a little predictable but overall the story was awesome in the end

Firefighters and celebrity protection agents can only fall in love in Alaska.
