A really good chilling ride, read this twice. Definitely worth the read!

Hyun is a reclusive high schooler struggling with trauma and suicidal tendencies. He spends each day just barely clinging on to life, hating his family for turning a blind eye to everything he's suffered through and escaping from reality by spending all his time on the internet. He's finally pushed over the edge after receiving news that his parents and sister were killed in a car accident and he's forced to live alone in a shanty apartment on nothing but the inheritance left behind by his parents. Completely devoid of hope, he schedules his own suicide only to wake up the next day to find out that the entire world has ended and been taken over by monsters. After the plan to end his own life is interrupted, Hyun begins to wonder if the apocalypse is truly the end of the world or a chance to begin life anew.<br /><br />With the world taken over by bizarre monsters, Hyun has no choice but to come out of his traumatized shell and band together with a small group of reluctant survivors who can become monsters themselves at any moment. In fact, the monsters that have destroyed the world were once human. A dangerous phenomena has begun that can warp a human being into the form of their strongest desire. If one desires to fly, they become a monster with wings. If one desires to become a body builder, they become a disfigured force of pure muscle and raw strength. If someone desires to become a model, they will become a disturbing mockery of traditional beauty standards.<br /><br />Everyone is under the threat of becoming a monster in the shape of their deepest desires, and this adds extra layers of psychological depth to the apocalypse genre. It also prevents things from getting repetitive because every single monster has a unique design and personality to suit their respective desire. People constantly struggling against their own emotional trauma and wishes creates many tense scenarios that lead to some very touching transformations, death scenes and unexpected character development.<br /><br />A suicidal recluse turned reluctant hero, an ex-cop fired for police brutality given a chance to redeem himself by protecting the last survivors of the human race, a failed rockstar given one last chance to bring a broken world together through her beautiful music, the redemption arcs of every single protagonist is done extremely well and the internal battles they constantly face inside themselves are often much more exciting, tense and emotional than the battles against the countless horrifying monsters they encounter.

Selepas tonton drama Korea Netflix, Sweet Home, terus cari versi webtoon-nya untuk dibaca. Pergh... masterpiece betul jalan ceritanya (berjaya habiskan baca dalam masa 1 hari). Cukup elemen2 horror, aksi, drama, slice of life dalam webtoon ni. Endingnya juga perfect. Lukisannya pula cantik, dan design monster2 yg muncul juga creepy betul. Kalau dah tengok adaptasi dramanya, disarankan juga baca versi webtoon sebab plot drama banyak diubah, sekadar ikut dlm 60 peratus macam tu jer.<br /><br />Webtoon ni bertemakan aksi-survival di zaman monster apocalypse. Mengisahkan tentang Hyun, seorang remaja anti-sosial yg tinggal seorang diri selepas seluruh keluarganya mati dalam satu kemalangan. Ketika wabak misteri yg menukarkan manusia menjadi raksasa melanda, dia dapat mengawal dirinya daripada bertukar menjadi raksasa. Dengan kebolehan separa raksasa, dia harus membantu penghuni2 kondominium yg masih hidup untuk terus survive.

Favorite quote - "Giving your life to someone else is a painful and helpless thing."<br /><br />Gruesome and dark. A manga whose last chapter released this Sunday. I've been reading this for the past few months and can honestly say I am still left speechless at the very end. Incredibly compelling characters thrown into an impossible situation coupled with beautiful artwork and excellent dialogue, Sweet Home is powerful and heavy hitting. <br /><br />Set in the present day, a mysterious illness plagues the world. Everyone is turning into monsters and the only way to defeat them is to be as quiet and as violent as possible. Beginning with a reluctant protagonist, the apartment building this battle takes place in is filled with every kind of fear, hate, and love someone can feel in the midst of an apocalypse. Orated through as diverse of characters as you'd expect across tenants, anything revealed to the reader has to first be figured out within the story. This narrow viewpoint makes for a gripping thriller as a lot of what's going on outside their experiences is kept in the dark and makes for a very intimate feeling horror. <br /><br />A lot of the set up is akin to classic zombie flicks, but as more is revealed to the main characters the story flourishes into something with another layer of depth and recurring digs at the human psyche. I'm avoiding any spoilers so I promise this is more than a simple-minded, monster-smashing thriller. It has a lot of ugly fights, but at its core, this is more a look at what it takes to make a person afraid. <br /><br />I highly recommend, but wouldn't necessarily read this one in the dark. I'm definitely considering diving more into this genre now that I've seen what it can do. 9/10

این از قشنگ‌ترین وبتون‌هاییه که تو ژانر وحشت خونده‌م.<br />حقیقتاً خیلی خوشحالم که از روزی که اولین قسمت منتشر شد تا همین امروز هر هفته دنبالش کردم. ?<br /><br />خلاصه: سوییت هوم درباره‌ی پسری به نام هیون چا ئه که خانواده‌ش رو تو حادثه از دست می‌ده و مجبور می‌شه به یه آپارتمان کوچیک نقل‌مکان کنه. همون‌موقعا بیشتر آدمای دنیا تبدیل به هیولا می‌شن و حالا هیون و سایر ساکنان ساختمان که هنوز انسانن برای بقای خودشون تلاش می‌کنن.<br /><br />خب با خوندن خلاصه به‌نظر می‌آد اینم یه داستان تکراری دیگه درباره‌ی زامبی‌ها و بقای انسان‌ها باشه که به جای زامبی، هیولا داره؛ ولی حقیقتش موقع خوندن اصلاً حس تکراری‌بودن به آدم دست نمی‌ده.<br /><br />هیولاها تو شکل‌ و سایزهای مختلفی‌ان و بذارین بگم که واقعاً خیلی‌هاشون ترسناک بودن ?? گاهی اوقات سرگذشت هیولاها که روزی انسان بودن رو می‌فهمیدیم و این خیلی خوب بود و در عین حال واقعاً قلبم از درد مچاله می‌شد. :((<br /><br />یکی از قشنگ‌ترین چیزای این وبتون تغییر شخصیت هیون چا در طول داستانه. هیون چا از پسری که امیدی به زندگی نداره تبدیل می‌شه به کسی که سرسختانه برای زندگی خودش و بقیه می‌جنگه. شاید بشه گفت این تغییر رو می‌شه پیش‌بینی کرد، ولی تغییرش بیش از حد انتظار من بود.<br /><br />بیشتر شخصیت‌ها رو دوست داشتم و خب چندتایی هم بودن که واقعاً دوست‌شون نداشتم. انگار خالق‌شون همین رو در نظر داشته.<br /><br />از کلیف هنگرهای آخر هر قسمت هم نگم براتون که تا هفته‌ی بعد می‌مردم و زنده می‌شدم ??<br /><br />این دومین اثر خالقان سوییت هومه، اولی رو هم بعداً معرفی می‌کنم.<br /><br />سوییت هوم واقعاً واقعاً قشنگه و من با تمام وجودم دوستش دارم. نمی‌دونم قراره اثر سومی هم از خالقا�� سوییت هوم باشه یا نه. درهرصورت، من برای یه شاهکار دیگه منتظر می‌مونم!<br />

I was skeptical about adding my webtoons to read shelves but they're stories too and take a lot of time! So, here I go.<br />I read this in the Webtoon app and this is fucking good too! I was with this from the start which was over 2 years ago! A fantastic dystopian thriller which always put me on the edge of my seat!
