*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

The Aubrey Rules! By Aven Ellis. The first book in the Chicago on Ice Series and is Aubrey Paige and Beckett Riley’s story. Aven Ellis is one of go to author when I looking for a fun easy romance story. I loved that Aubrey had rules and I'm sure we all have rules for different things in life so just like Aubrey here are mine when is come to romance books.

The Derna Rules to live by when reading a good romance book.

#1 It must have a good storyline
Aubrey Paige lives by rules these are rules that she has written to guide her on everything that she does in her day-to-day life. She sticks to them no matter what! But when Aubrey meets Beckett Riley a cute shy hockey player Aubrey soon realises that some rules are made to be broken or if not broken then slightly amended.

**Note** I loved this storyline just perfect for an afternoon when all you want to do is snuggle on the sofa and read.

**Amendment** There is a very high percentage that my rules are not going to be broken by Aven Ellis

#2 It must have likeable characters
Aubrey is sweet, funny, independent, sassy and loves to talk. Her rules are fun to read, and I loved when she is with Beckett her talking goes into overdrive, and her mouth has no filter. Beckett is honestly a nice bloke, he’s sexy and come across is a little shy. He can be awkward, nervous and serious at times, especially when it comes to social media. However, under that nervous exterior there is a guy with a smart ass with great sense who is thoughtful and kind.

**Note** There were some likeable supporting characters. Livy and Landy are wonderful just like me Livy is a fan of Kale Chips

**Amendment** Okay, some supporting characters I may want to punch! Aubrey’s boss Mallory Slone is a cow!!!

#3 The characters must have chemistry
Aubrey and Beckett are adorable together and have great chemistry. Their relationship, it's fun, cute and entertaining to watch. Their banter is very funny, and I loved the way they tease each other. Beckett genuinely interested in everything Aubrey she does, he wants to know what's going on in her head even if it's crazy. Aubrey helps Beckett loosen up and shows him the he is loveable just the way he is. They work well together, and bring out the best in each other.

**Note** You will fall in love with these characters they are perfect together.

#4 It must have a good mix of romance, angst and entertainment to keep things interesting.
The book flows well. Loved that Aven’s adds Aubrey’s rules at the start of the chapters, and her updates and revised notes and amendments as she gets to know Beckett. The storyline is low drama and angst there are a few issues involving, jealousy, insecurities, and misunderstandings, but it doesn’t last for chapters. The romance factor is high there are some swoon-worthily moments.

**Note** Aven knows how to write great romance

**Note** Beckett knows how to make a girl feel special. Aubrey is a lucky girl.

**Amendment** Aubrey is a VERY lucky girl.

#5 I must finish the book with a smile on my face.
I had the biggest smile on my face after reading the epilogue was sweet and a perfect ending for Aubrey and Beckett. Aven Ellis always writes my kind of romance books. The ones once I start I don’t want to put down, the ones that are cute, heartwarming, flirty, humorous and entertaining, and The Aubrey Rules was spot on. If you’re looking for a feel good romance with an HEA, then this one is for you. Aven Ellis doesn’t disappoint with her engaging, faultless and witty writing style.

**Note** Of course you will get some hot hockey action also.

**Note** I like when the next book is going to be about some of my favourite supporting characters. Therefore, I’m looking forward to Livy and Landy’s story where I know we will be more Aubrey and Beckett.

**Note** I was left with a craving for Kale Chips, and French fries while reading this book.

**Amendment** I’m fulfilled my Kale Chips craving as I’m eating a batch while writing this review.

The Aubrey Rules a must read for all you true romantic out there. Go one click now! I loved it.

Oh yeah, because I'm an idiot. I’m so glad I finally picked up The Aubrey Rules. Aven Ellis is my 'go to' author when I'm in need of a romance and feel good read! She never fails to make me happy. The Aubrey Rules was no exception. I loved this book!

Audrey Paige, main character of this book, likes jotting down rules for her career and love life and use them as a guide to keep her organized. These are her own rules, built from her life experiences and observations. It’s her personal guidebook to living her life. These rules are never to be broken until the day she meets a cute Canadian. The way they meet is quite a hilarious scene. Aubrey overslept; she didn’t have time to herself ready properly and is on her way to a very important job interview with one of the chicest social media firms in Chicago. While she is in an elevator and about to get out, her boot heel catches in the crack and she flies forward, flat on her face. This is where she meets a very handsome stranger, who later turns out to be Beckett Riley, captain of the Chicago Buffaloes, professional ice hockey team. Dark brown hair, chocolate colored eyes, 6’3, massive chest and super-hot! Yet Aubrey finds herself drawn to Beckett in ways she’s never known. And when she unexpectedly finds herself working with Beckett, she wonders if rules are meant to be broken after all . . .

Aubrey is another heroin I could easily identify with because we have a few things in common. She felt like someone who was a friend by the end of the book and is one of the few characters I've felt would be interesting to meet. To tell you the truth, from a certain point on, I could see what was coming. It was kinda hard not to, but nevertheless, I enjoyed the story immensely. Even though I knew what was coming, it was a fun read, and very entertaining. In true Aven Ellis style you are in for a romantic and sexy read. I love Aven’s book boyfriends and it’s safe to say Beckett is another one to add to the ever growing list.

Aven Ellis scores with The Aubrey Rules, first book in the Chicago on Ice Series. Social media professional Aubrey Paige is strict about following her rules. That is until see meets captain of the Chicago Buffaloes Beckett Riley. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Chicago. It is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

I liked Aubrey. I enjoyed her rules and how they are amended. I felt for her having to deal with her boss. I have worked for people like that, it is not fun. Aubrey is inept about hockey, but she learns. I like that she can calm Becket and make him a little less serious.

Hockey captain of the Chicago Buffaloes, Beckett Riley is shy, quiet, determined. I love that he thinks he is a dork. I appreciate his love in Tim Horton’s coffee. Whenever we are in an area that has a Timmy’s, we always make sure to stop in and stock up of coffee. He is a really likeable character and good guy.

Being a Chicagoan, I love that The Aubrey Rules is set in Chicago. I also liked how the chapter names corresponded with Aubrey’s Rules to live by. I found Aubrey’s job fascinating. It made me wonder how many athletes have people working for them doing social media. This is the first book that I have read by Aven Ellis. I love her writing style and will definitely continue reading this series.
Oh goodness. Where do I begin? I guess the writing in this book was OK. It was engaging enough for me to finish, even though I couldn't stand the h, and that's saying a lot. This story wasn't original, but if you're looking for a light, sports romance with a super sweet H, you might like this book.

What I liked:
Beckett. He is the perfect book boyfriend. Good looking without being a total playboy/manwhore. He's famous, has money, and is a genuinely nice person. He's a little socially awkward, but not to the point of discomfort for the reader.

What I didn't like:
The h. She is super insecure. She keeps mentioning that she's not a size 2 super model. She loves fries too much. Maybe stop eating so many fries and start working out more! I'm not against people who are curvy and larger sized. I think that people come in all shapes and sizes. But either just own what you have or try to change your habits. She also keeps mentioning that she's throwing her rules out the window, and yet she keeps writing in her journal....and I keep having to read about it. What.the.heck. She's so annoying. She also seemed like she was trying too hard to be funny. Again. Annoying.

A book written by Aven Ellis always puts me in a dilemma, read it straight away or for that down time in your life when you need escapism of a hunk of a man. This book does not disappoint, Beckett is smokin hot without even trying. Aubrey is the lucky lady who ends up falling (in the true sense of the word) for him. Each book leaves me just a little bit more in love with American hockey players, just which one would I choose, I don't know. That's decided then, I will just have to accommodate them all.....*wink wink* this book is another goal in the back of the net for me. My rating is 5 shiny big hockey balls.

This was a nice and fluffy read but somehow was the writing not my thing. It seemed a bit too light for me
Nevertheless I enjoyed the story and the characters. Beckett was really nice and I would have loved to See a bit more of him
Aubrey was funny. I loved her rambling :)

So all in all it was funny and sweet

Such a funny and sweet story! I just fell in love with both Aubrey and Beckett! They're the perfect couple! She's confident and feisty, and he's shy and awkward. Together they made me laugh. What a feel-good book!

Full review to be written soon...

*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

Oh look! It’s a new Aven Ellis book! Most of you can probably guess that I was really really excited about it. I was lucky enough to Beta read this wonderful book and that has been an awesome experience. Reading the whole story in one go afterwards was just great.

When the story stars Aubrey is all over the place, she is let for a job interview (she is never late), she is nervous and then she also loses her keys. In the elevator someone comes to her rescue, this certain someone happens to be hockey star Beckett Riley, captain of the Chicago Buffaloes, only… she doesn’t know that. Yes you heard right, is another ice hockey book by Aven, The Aubrey Rules is the first book of her Chicago on Ice series.

Aubrey gets the job and now works for Chicago social as a social media … The story gets really interesting when they get a new client, she kind of knows him already…

Aubrey is an awesome main character, she is full of passion, energy and fun! She keeps a rule book about dating and live. Meeting Beckett makes her question these rules more and more. Working with beckett doesn’t make this easier. Every chapter starts with an entry in her rule journal and she changes more and more of them with amendments and notes to them. These changes are so fun to read and really come from the heart, I felt that strongly. Her character came through in an authentic and real way.

Beckett Riley is a big hockey star and hero of a lot of kids, groupies and other people. Beckett is a bad ass on ice, a fighter and always there for his team. When it comes to dealing with media he becomes shy and awkward, with Aubrey on his media account now he learns to loosen up and relax. It was very sweet to see, how different he was, when Aubrey was around. What he did for Aubrey, the way he treated her and his Valentine’s Day date made me fall in love with him as well. He’s smart, kind, loving, sexy, romantic etc. Aven is totally the “Queen of Book Boyfriends”.
Aubrey got the whole picture, was able to crack his shell and see the real Beckett. Their chemistry was there from the start, they developed a very deep connection, which was wonderful to follow. Their scenes had everything – romance, passion, fun, sweetness, deep conversations, authentic moments and much more. Aven found a great way to capture Aubrey’s feelings in the storyline and also with the journal entries.

As I said before, Aubrey works on Beckett’s account, getting this opportunity at her new job is fantastic, but it’s not all good, she has a nightmare of a boss, Mallory. Especially, when Mallory tells her not to get involved with a client. I felt drama coming from that side and was just hoping for the best.

At first Aubrey wants to keep their relationship a secret, because of her work. She only tells Livy. Beckett doesn’t tell anyone at first, not even his best friend Landy (also a hockey player), which makes Aubrey question Beckett’s feelings. So eventually he tells him.

Aubrey gets the possibility to go to several Buffalo games as well and one time she goes with her best friend Livy and two other friends. The happen to play the Dallas Demons (remember them?!). Ok well, I’m a hockey hockey fan and I just loved the way Aven described this hockey action. I felt like being at the game myself. She captures places, settings, but also moments so wonderfully.
The storyline never gets boring with her, it has a great flow and is very gripping and absorbing.

Aven always manages to put a huge smile on my face with her stories, she has a way to add the right amount of humour, passion, drama and romance in one story and create a wonderful magical masterpiece!

This is the story of a hilarious and passionate girl living by rules, but when meeting the right person she is learning to follow her heart!

The characters are genuine and so relatable, both Beckett and Aubrey, but also Livy, Aubrey’s best friend. Livy is an amazing friend. Beckett had a great friend in Landy as well, they are both so different, but their friendship is deep. A wonderful bunch of people, well lined out and perfectly described in this book. Be prepared to meet some of the characters again, just saying ;)

Aven really knows how to engage the reader and she finds a way to make each and every single moment in her books memorable, special and unique. She definitely knows how to touch a heart!!!
