Introduction:
Lincoln was my addiction. He was the only man I’d ever been with. Loving him had been like a drug, complete with all the nasty side effects. When I had him, it felt like the greatest high. When I didn’t, it was like my world fell apart. Over the years, I’d realized so much of my time had been a craving-praying for the next hit. Was there a support group for this—In Love Anonymous? If so, I suppose I was working through my steps. I admitted I had a problem, and I wasn’t using anymore. Maybe I was delusional that there was a cure for this kind of sickness? I met the love of my life at fifteen. He left for the Army when I was sixteen. We dated long distance. Made love for the first time on leave. We married on leave too. So much of our life had been spent apart, so when Linc made a decision that took him away from me for years, sending him to prison, I was done. How many times could our life be put on hold? I knew I deserved to live my life with a partner; not love one who couldn’t stick ...

5 LONG-LASTING Stars!

... Goodbyes doesn't really exist at all.

I took every chance I got to read this book because the title and the blurb intrigued me. I liked to hunt new stories, new authors, and I'm glad this one by Abby McCarthy didn't disappoint me.

Note: This is a second chance romance.

I lived this book. Undeniably! It made me shed happy tears, sad tears, made me savor every words, and be inspired! For certain, I felt an intense magic throughout the story.

"I love you more than words. I love you more than touches. I love you more than anything."

I loved this book. All-out! I absolutely loved Lincoln and Lola. I so so much felt the intensity of their chemistry! I admired Lincoln for his never-ending love, for his sacrifices, for his softheartedness. He was such a unique hero. Rarely can be found. Lola too was as great as Lincoln. She was patient, unselfish, and loving. To my standpoint, they are a dream couple.

Lola and Lincoln met during a football game. Lola was 15, Lincoln was 18. They begun their friendship then that developed to love. When Lola was 16, Lincoln left for army. Lincoln, as years passed by, promised to give her a better future. But, one mistake, one decision, had set them apart and changed them forever.

"I love you more than words. I love you more than touches. I love you enough to say goodbye."

I was a bit conflicted in the half of the story because Lincoln didn't do anything to win Lola's heart again. But, I realized near-ending that the one who needs to make effort was Lola. Lincoln did what was right, unwillingly sacrificed the one whom he loved the most.

The Last Goodbye is a hands down second chance romance. Beautifully written, beautifully conveyed, beautifully portrayed, and beautifully ended. A high praise to Abby McCarthy for writing a book like this!

Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the story! Such a great book for Christmas! Taught us the only thing that could help us survive any challenges — by being with each other.

"I love you more than words. I love you more than touches. I’ll love you till the end of time."

5 stars

I've read a lot of second chance romances this year, but this one just might be my absolute favorite. Lola and Lincoln's love story was emotional, captivating, and they had such a monumental romance.

Lola and Lincoln met in high school and it was love at first sight. They've been together ever since. Through Lincoln's basic training, deployments, and then an even bigger obstacle. Lola loves Lincoln, but she feels like something else always takes precedent. When something big happens to one of his brothers and he has to leave again to help, it's the final straw for Lola. She doesn't know how they can make it work from here.

Lincoln loved his wife so much. There was never a second I questioned that. He didn't always make the right choice for them, but I feel like he did what he thought was best at the time. One thing is for sure, he never meant to hurt Lola. Even though that's exactly what he did. Lola has a hard time forgiving Lincoln at first, but she has an even harder time moving on from him. Her love for him never dies.

I love epic love stories. When you just know a couple is meant to be and there is no one else for them. Those are the kind of books that make me love romance so much. And that's the kind of love Lola and Lincoln have. The kind of love that could conquer anything. As much as I loved the both of them, there were also some fantastic secondary characters. I would love to get books for all of Lincoln's brothers, especially Ty and Trey.

The only minor issue I had with this one is the final conflict at the end felt a little rushed and I wanted more time with Lola and Lincoln and their happy, but it was so minor and I loved the rest of it so much, I couldn't not give this one a full five stars.

If you're looking for a second chance romance that's beautiful and powerful- pick up The Last Goodbye.

I love you more than words I love you more than touches I’ll love you till the end of time.

Yes!!
Give me a book with angst and I’m devouring it. Especially, a second chance romance.
Guys. This one is full of some raw emotions. Better have some Kleenex on hand and time because you’ll want to devour Abby’s words.
All the stars for The Last Goodbye.

Kathy Coopmans
USA Today Bestselling Author
2 Stars to The Last Goodbye

I wanted to slap the heroine with her own book. She annoyed me to the extreme. What a letdown. I really believed this book would be a 5-Star read for me, it had a great start. Lots of potential. A marriage in trouble is my jam! *LOL* I thought there would be an epic grovel by the hero, I could taste it. I was salivating. But sadly, this book was a dud. Two main reasons for that. Firstly, the heroine was such a martyr. She left the hero because for YEARS he put others first before their relationship, before her. If it wasn't the army, it was one of his brothers who needed saving. Later, he goes to prison for reasons that were vaguely explained but that had to do with him helping one of his brothers again. She finally has enough with constantly being left behind because of the choices he made, and tells him she's done. So for 3 years she misses him and NEVER moves on. Typical. Then what was the point of telling him goodbye? The moment he was released she crumbled at his feet. The hero never had to grovel because she made it so easy. That's my second gripe--the lack of groveling. He let her go without even trying to make amends. He signed the divorce papers she had very reluctantly given him only to never sign them herself. For serious?! To add salt to my wounds, he had the audacity to blame her for the dissolution of their marriage. Excusez-moi? Yes, it turned out he had some tragic little backstory that explained his savior complex, but that still didn't erase the fact he repeatedly abandoned his own wife. In one part of the book, she almost drowns in a storm trying to reach him at some cabin he was hiding away in to mope. And he gives her the cold shoulder? One secondary character practically swooned over what an alpha the hero was. HA! Pardon me for saying, but the author wouldn't know an Alpha if he bit her in the ass.

Other gripes:
√ The amount of times the heroine rehashed a situation. First to her friends, then to her brothers-in-law, basically to everyone and their mothers, it was ridiculous. Torturous for the reader.
√ That whole stalker and kidnapping ordeal...why? Totally unnecessary.

Note to Self: I should write a book--How To Make Your Romance Hero Grovel.

4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Liked it!
======================
It surprised me positively. I started reading without high expectations and stayed hooked until the end. Really enjoyed.

You put him first in front of our life together. Always. Everyone else always seems to come first."

"I was pregnant. I was going to tell you that night you left to go with him. Then you were arrested, and the day you were being sentenced, I miscarried our child. I laid in the hospital room, too ashamed to call anyone because I was going through this while you were leaving me again. I can't do this anymore, Linc.

The heroine annoyed me

I don't understand the heroine. She was just whacked. He loved her but he also loved his family and took care of them. Yes He messed up and he went to jail but dumping him and not corresponding with him for three years. Ditching her mother in law that was nothing but good to her. and don't even get me started about 'Jet'! What a stupid name. Just a lot of annoyances. I would give anything to have a man love me so much. The sex scenes were a little graphic for me but there wasn't too many. I loved The epilogue so it upped the book to three stars. Simply because the little girl said pwease! So cute.

This was good, somewhat compelling page turner. I liked both main characters and the secondary characters are well developed. I could have done without the twisty subplot, but it didn’t take away from the story.

3.5 rounded up... I wonder if his foster brothers have books...
