Introduction:
New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton celebrates the gift of love and the holiday season with a snowy Christmas wedding at the Bellini family vineyard. Stranded at the Red Moss Vineyard a week before her best friend's wedding, LA native and professional matchmaker Alice Weatherford is not pleased with her first trip to Oklahoma, or the epic snowstorm forcing her to stay. So much for Christmas cheer. What she needs is a project, something to distract her...and, oh, has she found one in neighboring rancher Clay Henry. Gorgeous, charming, and unlike any other man she's ever met, finding the right woman for Clay should be easy.... Having grown up with the Bellini sisters, it's no hardship for Clay to ride out the storm at their cozy family vineyard, especially since that means spending time with their savvy and smart houseguest. But despite Alice’s best efforts, he's not the least bit interested in her matchmaking.... Alice is the only woman Clay wants. Now he just has to convince ...

3 stars

I've been in a Christmasy reading mood and I love this cover, so I thought I'd give Jaci Burton a try. This is my first book by her and I enjoyed it. The Matchmaker's Misteltoe Mission follows a matchmaker named Alice and a rancher named Clay. It was sweet, steamy, and cute. It was also very insta-lovey, but it was a nice Christmas romance.

2.5/5 Stars

If you're looking for a cheesy romance to read this Christmas, then go for it because this is the novella for you! Overall the story made sense and I wasn't bothered by the insta-love since I know it's only a short novella and the time for the plot is quite limited. I just didn't like how everything was resolved at the end, it was just a bit out of the blue for me.

Simply Love Book Reviews

Burton writes such amazing heroes and Clay is no exception. He is a born and bred rancher that lives a simple life. Alice is a matchmaker from LA and is completely out of her element when she travels to Oklahoma for her best friend’s wedding. When they meet, their chemistry is combustible. In her profession, Alice doesn’t feel that chemistry is a basis for a strong relationship. Clay is the opposite and says that it is very important when looking for love. Convinced she can find him the perfect match, Alice offers her services. Knowing that the only person he is currently interested in is her, Clay plays along. I love this couple and the holiday background just makes the story that much better. The characters that were introduced were awesome and it was a great setup to the series going forward. I cannot wait to read more!

Review copy provided for a voluntary review.

3.5 stars - I love me some Jaci Burton holiday romances, and while this is not my favorite of her Christmas novellas, it is definitely full of her usual charm. While I think the stage setting for what will clearly be a new series coming from her set on this vineyard was a little clunky, the chemistry between the two main leads carried the day so I bumped it up a half star on that strength. Recommended to get you in the holiday spirit

The Matchmaker’s Mistletoe Mission was a cute, fun, easy, entertaining, holiday based novella that carries all the charm of Jaci Burton’s full length novels.

Alice gets stranded by a snow storm at her best friend’s Oklahoma vineyard wedding venue. This is where Alice meets and is instantly attracted to the neighboring rancher Clay.

Clay realizes that Alice is the one for him but he is going to have a tough time convincing Alice.

The story is fun, flirty and with characters that you’d love to call your friends. The story is heart felt with just the right amount of heat to burn off some of that pesky snow.

I received this ARC copy of The Matchmaker's Mistletoe Mission from Berkley Publishing Group - InterMix. I received an arc copy of this from Berkley via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Summary
Alice, an LA native and matchmaker, is in rural Oklahoma to help prepare for her best friend's upcoming wedding. Unexpectedly, there is a massive snow storm that traps Alice at the venue, a beautiful vineyard ran by the Bellini family. Also unexpectedly, ruggedly handsome Clay is stranded at the vineyard with her.
Clay is a rancher and happily single. And he wants no part of Alice's plan to find him his perfect match. Especially since the only person he wants is Alice.

Overview
➸ POV - 3rd Person, alternating between Alice and Clay's POV

➸ Alice Weatherford - LA native, Matchmaker, Maid of honor in her best friends wedding

➸ Clay Henry - Oklahoma, Rancher

➸ Content Warnings: None

My Thoughts
This just didn't do it for me unfortunately. This had some really cute moments! But overall I didn't jive with the writing or the overall plot.

I thought the chemistry and "relationship" between the two main characters was actually really sweet. I felt the connection between them and really liked the glimpses into their slice of life moments. But this was way, way too insta-lovey for my taste. I'm also for insta-attraction but when characters are dropping the L word after a couple of days and minimal contact I can't get on board.

I also found the dialogue to be really awkward and unnatural feeling. I was also so aware of these being words on a page rather than getting pulled into a story. There were so many repeated unnatural conversations - honestly the first 20-30 pages of this is just a new character being introduced and them making the same comment on the weather. Character names were overused in dialogue, and overall this story just felt never flowed or felt real to me.

Also, the main conflicts were completely self-imposed which was so frustrating as a reader. I wanted to shake the heroine at times.

Unfortunately I don't think this series is for me, and I don't plan on continuing on. I do think this had some great Christmas-y vibes if you're looking for something to quick this holiday season. But overall I didn't love or jive with this.

Review also shared on my blog!

And this year we got two new ones from Burton. Exciting! The Matchmaker's Mistletoe Mission is a sweet, fun, Hallmark movie novella that starts the new series.

For Alice and Clay it was love at first sight, or should I say lust at first sight. These two really want each other. Not that Alice will admit it at first. In fact, she offers her services up as a matchmaker just so she doesn't act on her feels.

Silly girl.

I really like Clay he's smart and hard-working and very sweet. He's willing to whatever it is to make her happy which shows just how much he cares. She feels the same way. They are just perfect for each other.

Nothing keeps these two apart. And finally, Alice and Clay act on their feels. It's not an easy road. There are a few bumps along the way. When they finally talk, really talk they are able to smooth things out.

Due to the fact that this is less than 200 pages, the story moves quickly but I felt it was well-written so that helps with how fast the story moves. Well worth reading for the holidays.

Follow me on:
https://www.facebook.com/RomancingThe...
https://twitter.com/Romancingreader

ARC received for an honest review
***ARC Provided by the Publisher***

3.5 Stars

Sometimes a novella is the perfect length, and in this case it absolutely was.

Yes, there is instalove, and a quick resolution of the problems of the relationship...but, meh, it's Christmas and it works. I liked Clay and Alice together, I liked their chemistry and I liked that they were both willing to admit their attraction (although, as it was a novella there wasn't really time for them to do anything else) and I liked the fact that their chemistry felt real.

Overall, I enjoyed this novella and I recommend it.
