Susan, a 44 year old criminal lawyer in partnership with her husband, has just learned that he has taken up with his secretary and is filing for divorce. He has bought out her share of the practice and their home; she is planning to take some time off when she gets a call from her aunt that her dad has had an accident. Susan returns to Martha's Vineyard, even though she's been estranged from both her father and her two sisters for many years. Can the sisters put their resentment and anger aside after so many years? Can Susan find love again? This new author (who has provided me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review) has written an enjoyable summer read which is recommended for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and Nancy Thayer.

I enjoyed this story. It started well and it kept me reading to find out the mystery that was implied with their mother’s death. Different aspects of this story are relatable to readers so it keeps your interest. Reads smoothly, and now has me wanting to continue the story with the second book!

For your first book, I think you have a winner. The writing was very good, the story flowed smoothly. Great characters. Lots of secrets, sister issues and lost love. Sometimes the descriptions were a little too wordy and slowed down the flow, but overall enjoyed this book and look forward to future books in this series. I received this arc for an honest review.

A great start to a new to me series and my first Martha's Vineyard visit. I'll be going back.

Hard to believe this is Katie Winter’s first book

This is a must read. I was given an advance copy of the book, but that in no way affects my review. I loved the book it’s set in Martha’s Vineyard and revolves around the life of the 3 Sheridan sisters who left the island after their mother’s death 25 years ago. Susan the oldest comes back after a call from her aunt telling her that her father is in the hospital. She found out he had an accident at home and now has early dementia. She gets her sisters Christine and Lola to come home as well and that’s where the families past starts to unravel and secrets are exposed. I won’t say more because I don’t like to give away the story. It took several twists and turns I never expected and I’m looking forward to Firefly Nights, Book 2 in the series. Great summer read I highly recommend.

I fell in love with this book and found it very hard to put down. It is set on Martha's Vineyard. The author gives wonderful colorful descriptions of the island and the characters who live there. It is a story about three estranged sisters. They have been asked to come home to Sunrise Cove Inn owned by their Grandfather. The Inn is in disrepair. None of them have been back to the inn in many years. Slowly the stories come out about their complicated lives filled with problems. I look forward to the next book to continue this wonderful saga. This is the Author's first book which is hard to believe as the book flows so easy which makes reading fun. I received an ARC from the author with the request to give it an unbiased review.

This was a pretty good story and I enjoyed it overall. What kept me from giving it four stars was the editing. Incorrect grammar, misplaced commas, etc- very very distracting. Not sure I will read the rest in this series.

Secrets and hard feelings unite the Sheridan sisters. First Susan is called back to Martha’s Vineyard following her father Wes’ accident. After returning, Susan realizes her father is suffering from Dementia and the family business Sunrise Cove Inn is suffering. The Inn desperately needs a facelift and Susan realizes their are other problems.

Newly divorced, lawyer Susan summons her sisters Constance and Lola. When they arrive, each holds bad memories of their mother’s tragic death. The sisters have gone years without connecting. Each sister has strong personalities and they don’t always agree on the best way to approach the future.

This is the author’s first book and the beginning of a series with strong characters, who are very opinionated. I will happily read the next book in the series.

Thanks you to the author and for an ARC at my request. The words and thoughts in this review are my own.

Perfect summer read (even though technically it's still spring!)! Needed to escape and this book fit the bill - and also since I have been to the locale of this book many times it brought back some good memories and made me nostalgic for all of those trips to a place where I haven't been back to in a long time. Somewhat predictable ending but that's OK - there's another title in the series so I am looking forward to reading that one!

I received an ARC of this entertaining ebook. If you like stories about Inns, families, the ocean, islands, or Martha's Vineyard pick this one up when it debuts on July 7, 2020. It's by first time author Katie Winters and she's done a heck of a job. I truly enjoyed the story, the characters and the inn. Looking forward to the next one in this series.
