3 hot & steamy stories with 3 different scenarios & kinkiness. The 1st two stories were ok and I enjoyed reading them but not so much the 3rd though. 1st story was about a happily married couple (June & Ashlyn) who is opened to the idea of a threesome and have experimented with it prior - so you get the drift where this story is heading. 2nd is about 2 Long-lost friends (Abby & Simone) who had feelings for each other but was never communicated/expressed between them. Somehow, instead of expressing their feelings, Abby tormented Simone. They met again years later and tried to build/have a relationship. Hot sexy scene especially at the carpark. 3rd is on Jude and Hollis who both enjoyed BDSM.

No real story and/or character development other than the hot steamy scenes. If you are looking for the latter, read this book, otherwise give it a miss.

Ratings - 3.5 (round down, only cos I don’t enjoy reading the 3rd scene).

Very hot, and I liked that each novella showed a different stage of a relationship. I would particularly love to see a follow up to the third story, but they were all great and were perfect examples of non-vanilla erotic romances.

It was an uncommon read, as it stands in it's title as well.
There are three novellas in it with a lot of erotica and a little bit of romance.

The first story was about a threesome, which was a first for me to read with three female characters in it, and although I should think it is wrong or wierd, because of the infidelity issue, actually it was quite hot, but sometimes I couldn't really follow who stands or sits or lies where, and which hand or mouth is whose. :)

The second novella was about rekindling a high school crush, or sort of, after ten years no see, and it included a lot of graphic sex scene and bdsm. I would say, it was a bit too much for my taste. And in my opinion, one of the main characters, Simone was too immature and sometimes irrational as well. I didn't really like that one.

The third story was about a homicide detective attending an FBI training session and having some "bdsm fun" with the instructor after classes.

All three of the novellas in this collection are sure to please a variety of erotic tastes! The collection begins with Raw Silk, featuring a happily married couple who invite another into their bedroom. June works hard in a cutthroat corporate setting and when aggressive Katerina shows up and becomes very pushy June can't help but want to cave into the temptation. While completely faithful to her wife, June still divulges her feelings to her wife Ashlyn. Ashlyn agrees to let her wife indulge in the current fantasy, but with some stipulations.

I enjoyed this story and the sexual tension but struggled at times with my emotions. The relationship between June and Ashlyn was very intense and loving, yet they periodically invite a third party into their relations. I sensed a lot of uncertainty and conflicting emotions through June's perspective which were hard to ignore while reading. June was very torn between her carnal desires and her morality of being monogamous in a marriage. Ashlyn provides that grey area between monogamy and infidelity by approving of interactions beforehand. I would have to say this is the first threesome experience I've read where characters demonstrate such strong emotions besides sexual desire. All in all I enjoyed the story but I definitely didn't see eye to eye with the characters.

The second story, On Her Knees, was absolutely amazing! Abby runs into a high school crush at a party and has her world turned upside down. Both women still hold a grudge over events that transpired in high school but that doesn't stop them from having a steamy parking lot encounter. Fate has its own cruel tricks and the women cannot stop thinking about each other. Can the past be forgiven or is their no potential for past crushes?

On Her Knees was a unique and beautiful second chance at love story. I eagerly read each page and enjoyed getting into the character's heads. Both Simone and Abby were likable characters who acted despicable in the past. It was refreshing to see old hurts laid out on the table in a mature way instead of the usual showing up your frenemy at a ten year high school reunion. Even when it looked like both women wouldn't be able to put their differences aside I was still hoping they had a happily ever after. This novella also contains one of the hottest F/F erotic scenes I've ever read- but I won't say more as to not spoil it!

The last story, Hollis, features a seasoned detective who attends a training seminar at the FBI academy. Detective Jude Lassiter starts her class off on the wrong foot in the eyes of stern Special Agent Beverly Hollis. After verbally challenging Hollis in class, Jude is directed to Hollis' office. The two enter into a Dominant/submissive relationship but after the training ends where does that leave the two?

Hollis was a refreshing new spin to a forbidden romance between a teacher and student. Their wasn't the usual age and maturity gap between the two women as they were both in their forties. Both women knew what they wanted and weren't afraid to go out and get it- no meek women in the FBI! This novella contained humor, hot bondage scenes, and a happy for now ending. I thought it was the perfect end to this wonderful collection!

Uncommon Romance contains well, uncommon romances between women of different backgrounds and tastes. Each story was well-written, intriguing, and left me wanting more. I especially connected with On Her Knees but it is near impossible to pick a favorite! I highly recommend this book for all erotica lovers who want a new spin to their erotica and who want to read some of the hottest F/F scenes currently out there.

The first story was the best part of the book. I really liked the steamy lesbian sex, it was engaging, and kept my attention. The other two stories didn't do much for me. I gave it 3 stars because somewhere around the midpoint, I lost interest and I skimmed through the rest.

A disclaimer: I don’t really read erotica. However, Jove Belle is a great writer, so when she asked me to review “Uncommon Romance,” I was enthusiastic. And I certainly was not disappointed.

“Uncommon Romance” contains three novellas: “Raw Silk,” “On Her Knees” and “Hollis.” My favorite is “On Her Knees,” perhaps because, for me, it strikes the perfect balance between romance, plot and erotica. There is still plenty of raw and graphic sex (and the novella is no doubt erotica), but also the novella has a very sweet, romantic and suspenseful undertone that is not present as much in the other two novellas.

In “On Her Knees,” the big question is whether the leads, Simone and Abby, who crushed on each other in high school but couldn’t admit it, can find a future together ten years later. (See an excerpt below this review.)

In “Raw Silk,” the leads are a married couple very much in love with each other, so there isn’t, for me, much suspense in the story, even after they bring in a third person for some fun. “Raw Silk” skews more on the side of pure erotica—definitely a great thing for many people! ;)

In “Hollis,” the leads, a FBI instructor and a detective at the instructor’s training camp, agree to a BDSM relationship early on, and there’s really no question until very late in the story about whether they have any desire for their relationship to progress past three weeks of fun.

That being said, the plots and characterization of “Raw Silk” and “Hollis,” while perhaps not as suspenseful as “On Her Knees,” will still appeal to many people. I in particular enjoyed the BDSM aspect to “Hollis.” Threesomes (as in “Raw Silk”) are fairly common, but BDSM is something I have not read much about, so I really enjoyed learning more on the subject.

I fully recommend this collection, and let me tell you one thing. Jove Belle knows how to write sex. She keeps it fresh in scene after scene. Very few methods and techniques are repeated, whether within a story or across all three novellas (off the top of my head, I can name only one notable sex act that was somewhat repeated and even then it was written differently enough both times).

Only enjoyed the first of the three stories. These are stories about domination and submission...NOT my thing.
