In a small condo in Chicago, Kai watches Brooke sleep. It gnaws at him that she lives alone. And although the building is fully warded, he still worries about her safety. Further, he recognizes that his interest in Brooke goes beyond that of protection. And given his past, these new feelings are... perplexing.

"Kai, who took pleasure in bedding as many women as he wanted, was stymied by one willful brunette. But Brooke wasn't just any brunette. The entire supernatural world believes her existence to be a myth."

As a Solsti, Brooke's powers will one day be unmatched. However, she is still in training. And having been raised a human, Kai worries that she is suppressing her senses, leaving herself vulnerable. As a Lash demon, he knows what the legends say about the Solsti. And while she will be protected by the Lash demons, there are others who would want her dead. Thus, checking in on Brooke has become a regular occurrence. Independent and capable, the arrogant Kai is the last demon Brooke would want checking in on her! And so, his stealthy visits continue.

Having been at each other's throats since day one, Brooke is annoyed at the idea that she and Kai will have to take a trip to Torth as a team. Visiting the other realm is always a risky venture. Still, it is necessary. But she does need to practice her ability to manipulate water. And so, there is an upside: after being stifled for so long, the supernatural realm of Torth offers freedom from being discovered by the humans! No more practicing in her bathtub, she will find the biggest water sources in Torth, and learn to manipulate water on the grandest scale imaginable. And no one, least of all Kai, will get in her way.

There was so much going on in this book, but I never felt lost or confused! The author creates an enchanting world with interesting inhabitants that are both fearsome and formidable. And there is beauty and magic around every bend! From the barren wastelands to the lush forests, every river, wave, leaf, and drop of water comes to life! I really felt like the world the author created just popped off the pages. But nothing was gratuitous. This is a magical journey for the characters, as well as the reader!

The characters were charming, fully developed, and believable. The struggles between Kai and Brooke were not contrived. And I appreciated that Brooke wasn't falling all over Kai from the beginning, just because of his physical charms. The characters stayed true throughout the story. However, we do discover Kai's backstory, and thus gain some understanding as to why he presents as guarded and arrogant. Moreover, his protective nature is always in the forefront, and you can't help but see the diamond in the rough.

Eventually, things heat up between Kai and Brooke, and all the descriptive details you could hope for are imagined! We also encounter someone from Kai's past, and plenty of other characters that add depth and meaning to the story, as a whole. My favorite scene was the river scene, whereby Kai and Brooke have to make a quick escape... a river that is vivid, alive, and magical, just like this story!
This is book 2 in the Solsti series, and let me tell you it's a good read I loved book 1 but this one is equally as good if not better as there are more layers to the story.

Kai is a Lash Demon who lives in the same house a Gunnar from book 1, his just getting used to having Nicole around (Gunnar's mate) now her sister Brooke is constantly about and they can't be civil together, of course its obvious for us to see why but it takes them time to figure it out!

Brooke is still trying to master her abilities, it's not easy for her to do in a city without being noticed, so she gets sent to the Demon Realm to practice for a few hours .....with Kai.

So much action in this book, some on earth but mostly in the Demon Realm, and lots in the bedroom department too they both have healthy sexual appetites! There was more to this book than that we get to watch relationships grow and get a look at the past and meet some new characters who I can't wait to see more of.

If your a fan of pnr you will love this series it has everything we look for in our books and will leave you wanting more, especially after the book 3 teaser at end.

A strong 5 Vampy and Racey stars.

**I received an arc of this book for an honest review.**
The blurb sums up the story perfectly, so I’ll dive right in to my review. Ugh. This series rocks my world! I was already ensnared when I read the first book. The world building is just that good. This series feels fresh, and while it has many scorching hot scenes between the various heroes and heroines, there are enough action scenes with somewhat gruesome battles to balance things out. I would recommend reading the books in order mainly to get a good grasp of the world and all the characters that (re)appear throughout.

Nicole and Kai were introduced in the first book, and let’s just say they didn’t get off to a good start. Despite the fact that Brooke’s sister, Nicole, had mated Gunnar didn’t mean they’d all become one happy family. Kai was about to learn that there was one female who could resist him, and he’d have some groveling to do if she didn’t skewer him with ice daggers first.

I adored these characters both individually and as a couple. Brooke was a sassy, independent female sans flair for theatrics. I can’t stress enough how much I love heroines who don’t come with the (almost standard) flaw of being afraid of falling in love and getting hurt. Her dislike of Kai in the beginning wasn’t her being a b*tch but rather she wanted to be treated with a little respect and not like a piece of meat. Understandable. Another great trait that earned her brownie points with me was that she never claimed she could handle the dangers by herself. She knew she needed help so she diligently practiced with her abilities and continued with her fight training without complaint. I loathe heroines who throw caution to the wind because they mistake genuine concern from their alpha male for high-handedness.

Kai. I knew I was going to love him from the moment he put his foot in his mouth at the end of book one, and again when he realized that he was inexplicably drawn to the woman who kept ignoring or scowling at him. He was protective but not overbearing, and I loved that he encouraged and praised her whenever they found themselves fighting for their lives or when she dug deep to increase the strength of her abilities. He may have been a centuries old demon and she a nearly three decades old human, but they treated each other like equals and partners.

The main action of the story is tied to Kai’s brutal past. When his past and present collide with Brooke caught in the middle, I loved how well she handled herself and the way it brought them closer together. The love scenes were scorching hot, as usual. The story flowed nicely from start to finish that I finished this book rather quickly. There wasn’t a moment where the story felt stunted or boring, therefore I never wanted to put the book down. The best thing about the series is that each book doesn’t end on a dreaded cliffhanger. Each couple deals with a villain, and there’s a set-up for the next couple and the enemy.

On that note, I strongly encourage any PNR lovers to give this series a try. If you’re a fan of Larissa Ione or Felicity Heaton, I think you’ll really enjoy it. If you give one new series or an indie author a try this year, do it here and now. I will be purchasing print copies for myself in the near future.

Book One is currently on sale for only 99 cents until February 9th, 2014.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy from the author for the purpose of an honest review. Kai knows what it's like to be a slave because many years ago he had been caught and brought to the arena where he had to fight other kidnapped slaves just to stay alive. But he escaped with the help of a guard who asked him to kill a slave who raped and murdered his sister. Now, years later the Solsti have returned and he along with the other demons he lives with are trying to keep them safe as well as help them learn how to use their powers. There's something coming, something bad and they have to be prepared for it. What Kai isn't prepared for is Brooke.

Brooke and her sisters have recently learned they are Solsti and they have powers over the elements. Brooke's element to control is water and she's just now learning what she can do with this power. The demons are teaching her and her sister how to defend themselves against the bad demons who would hurt or kill them. There's just one problem and his name is Kai.

I knew right away that I was going to like this book because Kai and Brooke hate each other and always had something snide to say when they were in the same room with one another. You could feel the sarcasm dripping off the walls when they talked to each other and could picture the eye rolls and sneers that they gave to one another in passing.

I love it when the hero and heroine start out hating each other and slowly one of them sees past the flaws of the other because they have the hots for them. That is what happened here with this couple. Kai knows he really messed up their initial meeting and knows Brooke can't stand him but he doesn't know what to do to fix the situation until he realizes that some of those stares she's been giving him haven't been filled with daggers but with lust.

Their budding relationship is really put to the test when they have to travel to the demon realm, Torth. Brooke learns about Kai's time as a slave and she also learns she's more powerful than she realized.

There is another storyline going on at the same time the main storyline is happening. Raniero and Ashina find themselves back together after one hundred years apart. Ashina's father made a deal with Raniero, that he wouldn't kill his daughter if Raniero agreed to be his employee and stay away from his daughter for the time of his forced employment. There's more than meets the eye to these two characters and I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of them in subsequent books.

I've read two books in this series so far and have loved them both and can't wait to see what happens next. If you like your books filled with demons, demon realms, witches, hot alpha males and heroines who aren't afraid to kick some ass when they need too, then this is the series for you.
http://www.ismellsheep.com/2014/01/bo...
Picking up neatly from the first book, Wicked Wind, this story works best if you have read the first to get a fuller feel for the world and the threats. It doesn’t hurt to have characters that are well defined and developed, with snarky responses and a willingness to acknowledge their attractions even if they don’t ‘like’ one another so well.

Focusing on Brooke, sister to Nicole, she also is more than just human, and is learning the full breadth and effects of her own power. While Nicole was more interested in not believing the truth before her eyes, Brooke is more interested in just what she can do, and just how much she can learn. She has dedicated her time to learning to control and harness her power, and all would be just perfect if Kai didn’t keep appearing and making her unsettled.

All too aware of his own reaction to Brooke, Kai, a Lash Demon as is Gunnar, Kai had a rough start in life and carries a reasonable belief that if it exists, he can beat it. Having Nicole underfoot was bad enough; but now Brooke is here and Kai finds he is bristling like a hedgehog and unable to be civil. Yes, we see that these two are fated to be mates, despite their own cluelessness, but once that cat is out of the bag…… *fans self*

Again the world building and battles are exemplary, the characters MUST learn to work together to fulfill their destinies and protect the human realm. Moving between the demonic plane and the earthly one, this story is fast paced and keeps the reader on the edge of the seat.

Kai is utterly alpha, and Brooke’s responses to him start begrudgingly but soon ramp up to show the true desire and attachments that they have for one another. Both are fiercely independent and it is a struggle to trust in one another: until the chips are down and trust becomes the one thing that will allow their survival.

A great follow up to the first in this Solsti series, fans of UF and Paranormal romance are sure to like this action-packed ride riddled throughout with steamy moments.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
~ 4 Wicked Waves Stars ~

Wicked Waves is book two in the Solsti Prophecy by Sharon Kay and pick’s up after Wicked Wind. Each book builds on the next adding more insight into the world, characters, and the big bad that is too come.

This one focuses on Brooke, Nicole’s sister who is also more then human and still learning the full depth and effects of her power. She has been dedicating her time on learning to control and harness this power. She is very open when around her sisters, but when she gets around Kai she becomes an ice queen because he unsettles her.

I was intrigued by the way this one started. The prologue gives us insight into Kai and why he is so violent and rude. He is also very aware of his reaction to Brooke and when she is around he finds himself unable to be civil around her. We see that they are fated to be mates, even with their cluelessness, but once its out in the open…. *fan’s self*

The world building and battles where exceptional. Lots of action with the characters having to learn to work together to fulfill their destinies. The story is fast-paced and keeps the reader on the edge. As for Kai and Brooke, these two are fiercely independent and at times it’s a struggle for them to trust, but when they end up in a place Kai did’t ever want to see again, the only way to survive is to trust each other. The pain and emotional struggles bring these two closer together.

We also get a very sweet little side story of Raniero & Ashina that gives us a big surprise.

Wicked Waves was a great follow up to the first. Fans of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance are going to love the action-packed ride we go on with some steamy moments to add to the juiciness of the story. I can’t wait to read more and see where everything leads.

Wow, Outstanding! Let me just say I loved this book. As soon as I got done I went online and bought Wicked Winds, Solsti Prophecy #1. Not that this book wasn’t able to stand by itself because it did a wonderful job of just that. But because I loved the story so much I wanted to read Nicole and Gunnar’s story. I can’t wait for the author to write more books in this series.

Kai is a Lash Demon from the supernatural realm of Troth. After escaping enforced enslavement where he was forced to fight other supernatural beings daily to the death, he joined up with Arawn the leader of the Lash demons. These warriors, The Watchers were known to defend those who were being preyed on by those stronger than them.

Brooke is one of the mythical Solsti. Her element is water which she is just now learning to control. Although one day she would be extremely powerful, she has yet to grow into those powers, and therefore is venerable. It is the job of the Lash demons to protect the Solsti.

Kai and Brooke clash from the start, but are physically drawn to each other. When a Neshi demon comes to earth and grabs Brooke, Kai saves her. This starts their adventure to Troth where they go to get a rare plant that is the weakness of the Neshi demons and it will also give Brooke a chance to use her powers away from earth. You just can’t move large amounts of water down the streets of Chicago without someone noticing.

This story is fast-paced, and extremely well written. I couldn’t put it down. The realm of Troth is so well depicted that you easily find yourself there along with Kai and Brooke. The interaction between the characters is believable and fluid. The love scenes are well thought out and get a glass of ice water steamy. I can’t say enough about this book. I loved it!

Book provided by the Author through PaCR: NaUBA group Author/Reader Exchange for an honest review.

I am excited to report that book 2, Wicked Waves is just as fantastic as book one!

What I LOVE about this series…

*I love that each book works as a stand-alone but also is connecting the story of the Solsti sisters together for what I am assuming is going to be an epic smack down of good versus evil.
*At the end of each book you feel you have finished a story but that there is definitely more to come.
* Sexy, Alpha Male, Lash Demons, Protectors
* Strong Female MC's
* Character Growth
* Building Backstory (family secrets, mystery, suspense)
* Steam level--HOT (I usually like a mild to medium on the steam level but for this series the hot level works.)
* that I want more!!! Looking forward to sister, Gin's story!

The blurb does a great job of telling you what this story is about so I will skip recapping that and just say that book 2 is all about Solsti sister, Brook Bonham and her protective Lash demon, Kai. There is love, hate, danger, and more family secrets get uncovered.

If you enjoy steamy paranormal romance then this is a series that you will LOVE. (Recommended for readers 18+ and older)
One of the BEST paranormal romance books I have read period. I was absolutely sucked in from the very first page of this exciting and thrilling NEW paranormal adventure. It was an incredibly marvelous world that was created by this author. Demons have always been one of my favorite paranormal characters because there is just so much you can do with them. But this book blew Larissa Ione's Demonica series off my shelf, which was one of my favorite demon series. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all paranormal romance fans, which dipped into quite a few erotic scenes. It was an excellent mix of adventure, sex, heat, and the story line was out of this world. It flowed like this author is on her twentieth series, not her first!!

Kai was instant love for me. He was hard-core,had the tragic story line, no bullshit, gritty, and OHHHH so hot!! He had a great heart that he kept buried and held most people at arms length, which is where he tried to keep Brooke (which failed miserably by the way). Something about her pulled at him, and she was a temptation he could not ignore.

I loved watching these two fall in love. The passion was already there because the dynamics when they were together were amazing. Even before the sexual tension was admitted to each other, it obvious to those around them that something was going on and it sure wasn't hate.

This author has moved up into my top ten. I cannot believe how much I truly enjoyed reading this book. It was satisfying on every level because it was so fresh and unique. My only regret is that I cannot rate this above a 5 and that I haven't found her sooner!! Excellent read!!

What can I say?! It's possible I loved this book more than the first one!

Lash demon Kai comes from a tortured past and has no interest in putting his trust in anyone or anything. He has spent his life fighting for survival and now as a Watcher is responsible for protecting Earth from other paranormal creatures.

Brooke, one of Nicole's sisters, is the Solsti witch with an affinity to water. Both Nicole and Brooke have been training with the Lash demons to strengthen their gifts. Unfortunately this forces Brooke and Kai into close quarters with each other. In order to dismiss his feeling for Brooke, Kai is purposely rude and distant to her. While his attitude pushed Brooke away she can't help but feel an attraction to him.

When circumstances force Brooke and Kai back to the demon realm, Torth, they can no longer hide their feelings for one another. With their lives in danger, Brooke and Kai form a lasting bond that may be the only thing that can save them and get them back home.

This book is filled with sexy and dangerous demons fighting to protect the women they love. The passion between Brooke and Kai is explosive, making this book a MUST read! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
