This series is so fun!

Hayley is a RIOT. I seriously took notes of her one-liners and weird insulting names she came up with had me laughing out loud. As the story played out, Hayley became the master of her own destiny in a move I really liked. She's a feisty one, this Hayley!

But aside from that, WOW was Marius in a tough spot. I don't want to ruin anything, but let's just say that things he did in the past greatly affected Hyley, and I was interested to see how he broke the news to her and how she reacted.

And holy heat level! This book is SPICY!!! It's the perfect balance of hot and sweet.

And I'm still DYING to read Will's story!!! Which should be next! I'm so excited!!!

terrific Shifter Romance

This is the second book in this series and I think it is terrific. I really love Shifters and Shifter Romances and I especially love cat Shifters and Bear Shifters and this book has both. I love the story and the characters. There is good amount of ? and there is also some action too. I thought the action was particularly good. The h is fierce and she is one of my favourites. I also liked the H because he knew she was the one right off, if you like shifters you will like this series.

Hayley Jaynes is a foul-mouthed shifter that is determined to prove herself trustworthy and responsible. She needs a fake boyfriend and her only choice is grizzly shifter who’s wild, done her family wrong and he’s so hot that she doesn’t trust herself around him. Marius knows he deserves worse than Hayley’s scorn because if the secrets he’s keeping come to light, he knows that Hayley will never forgive him. But in the Dark Pines territory, secrets have a way of coming out and when a rival pride puts Hayley in danger, Marius must put aside his guilt and step in or risk losing his mate forever.

An engaging and suspenseful read with a fun side, liberal usage of naughty language and sexy times. The heroine is tough but unsure of herself due to past events and the hero is sweet but riddled with guilt over past events which has lots of turbulent emotions flowing from the pages which captures the heart of the reader. But this relationship also has some sizzling chemistry and an undeniable attraction that gives readers that heartwarming knowing that this couple belong together.

The plot is fast paced and full of thrilling suspense that keeps the readers glued to the pages in anticipation and also full of some LOL moments as Hayley’s foul mouthed nature invents some inspired name calling between her and her brothers. Some twists and turns has a rival pride targeting Hayley with some nefarious plan which ups the excitement of this delightful shifter romance.
I read this on the app KISS as part of a bundle with the first and third books. It took a few days because when I started, I had the chapters for free but then I had to earn some points to read the rest.

Hayley (a shape shifting 21 year old human/mountain lion) has come back to live in Dark Pines, The town where she grew up and left four years ago with her brothers after their parents died in a fire that was intentionally set by someone else.

Despite all that, Hayley does not appear as traumatized as a character from a Jayne Rylon novel, so I loved it. Instead, she’s tough and quick witted. She has a foul mouth, usually insulting people by combining a body part with another word. Since she saves that for people she loves or is angry at, the targets are usually her brothers or the guy she has a huge crush on.

Soon after arriving, she gets a phone call from her fiancé. It turns out that four years ago, her parents had given her away in marriage to a man named Alec on the condition that his family would help them win a war against another pride. As it’s established in the first book, they lost that war and the other pride set fire to the house and killed their parents.

(I did not know that mountain lions engaged in arranged marriages in exchange for mercenaries, and I’m a little upset about their involvement in this.)

Anyway, the only way out of it is to have already been mated with somebody else. She manages to convince her brother Jackson’s friend Marius to be in a fake relationship with her. This isn’t really hard because he fell for her at their first meeting and would basically do anything for her now.

Being a mountain lion sounds like a lot of fun
+ The cold weather doesn’t bother you. Sometimes you wear a coat just to fit in among humans, but it’s not necessary.
+ Super healing powers in your human form
+ you can hide your clothes somewhere, turn into a mountain lion, and just go running in the woods.

I liked a lot about this book.
+ Hayley is not incredibly traumatized.
+ Hayley is fierce and strong.
+ Hayley has dreams outside of getting a man,
+ and Marius is supportive of them.
+ body parts were not labeled by gender!
+ her brothers look after her, but are not grossly protective. They don’t act like they own her sexuality, they just want her to be happy.
+ Marius was forthcoming with his feelings about her. There is a big secret he keeps from her for too long, but he was going to tell her about it before she found out about it.

Random questions:
- can a mountain lion have sex with a bear?
- are the children going to be either mountain lion or a bear or some sort of hybrid?
- if you mark your mate but the mark heals when they are human, how do others know that they are marked?

CW:
- lions, (no tigers), and bears, oh my!
- being sworn to marriage with somebody you don’t like
- death by arson
- parental death
- Hayley’s personal brand of insults usually involves a slang term for genitalia

I have started reading the next book in the series, but I have to earn a lot more points before I can finish it.

All reviews posted originally on the blog: http://www.romancerehab.com/

I’ve been a fan of this author for a while now. I read the entire Sierra Pride series and really enjoyed it, and read and reviewed the first book in this series, Wild Homecoming, back in October. (It was a 4-star read, by the way) So, when the author offered me an ARC of Wild Atonement, I jumped all over it. Then, when I read and loved THAT, I was too impatient to wait for an ARC of Wild Reunion (which was up for pre-order at the time), so I bought it myself. Needless to say, I don’t regret the purchase. Not. One. Bit.

I think that Wild Atonement is maybe my favorite Liza Street novella to date. I thought Hayley, with her tomboy ways and sassy mouth (her habit of creative name-calling is hilarious) were very endearing. But beyond that, Hayley was the very opposite of a damsel in distress, which I find sooooooo refreshing. Hayley didn’t need Marcus or any of her brothers to save her. She took care of herself, even when the confrontation with “the bad guy” became physical. Girl power!!

Marcus was a pretty great hero, too. He accepted and loved Hayley for the beautiful, confusing mess she was and never even hinted at wanting to change her in any way. These two didn’t have to compromise who they were in order to find their HEAs; they meshed perfectly.

As for Wild Reunion, I maybe didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I loved Wild Atonement, but it was a good, solid PNR read that fans of the category would still probably love. I thought Ellie was charming as the piano-teaching, hypochondriac heroine. Will was a decent hero, too, if a little generic for my liking. (He’s your typical brooding, martyr type. There wasn’t anything wrong with him. He’s just a character I’ve seen one too many times, especially in PNR)

My only real complaints with these novellas remains consistent: they should be full-length novels. The characters and worlds that Liza Street builds are definitely rich enough to support full-length novels—and more page count would most likely make me adore characters that I otherwise just really like. (A subtle distinction, but an important one, in my opinion.)

But, all that said, I think fans of PNR who don’t mind the fated mate trope (you know who you are), should give this series a try. You won’t be disappointed. It makes for sexy, fun, easy reading. And what could be better than that?

Disclaimer: We received an ARC of Wild Atonement from the author at no charge.

This was yet again another really good book by Lisa Street I believe that I loved this one a bit more than the first one as Hayley is so Kick-Ass and she is her own person, she tells it as it is and doesn't apologies for it. I also loved Marius as he is this muscular grizzly bear who is every bit an alpha male who likes to dominate and protect people he cares for and he knows who he wants and we'll go for it. The story begins where Hayley receives a phone call from a mysterious stranger telling her that he's her fiance. The arrangement was made by her parents back 4 years ago, stating that if the Spokane pride helped them during the war there would be a marriage. Now that 4 years of past and her parents are dead Hayley doesn't wish to go through with the arranged marriage and thus gets a little help from Marius the grizzly who a few months ago was torturing summer at the behest of another pack. But Marius and Hayley's attraction is explosive right from the start, they feel deeply connected to each other even though Hayley tries to push him away but Marius doesn't give up that easily and if she wants his help to pretend to be her mate so as to fool the other pack she's going to have to play his little game. but as the two grow closer together they realise more about each other than they ever knew before that is until 4 year olds secret could ruin their chances at happiness as well as the Spokane pack. and Hayley being a badass chick she's not going to go down without a fight even if she must lie to those she loves to protect them. This was a very good read it had love, lust, trickery and cunning, betrayal and more. I can't wait to read the next story about Will and Eleanor to bring this pride full circle.

Hayley Jaynes has returned to her home in Dark Pines where her cougar pride had lived. Only Hayley and her two brothers are left of the pack. Arrangements had been made 4 years ago by Haley’s parents that if the Spokane pride helped them in a pack war, Hayley would be promised to one of their shifters. Her parents died in the fighting, but the promise still existed. Now Alec, a lion shifter, wants to claim his prize. Since Haley wants no part of this deal, she kisses Marius, a grizzly shifter, and the two of them agree to fake that they are mates, which would dissolve the promise. Unfortunately, Alec doesn’t believe it and Marius doesn’t want to let Haley go. Now what are they going to do? Can they overcome their conflicts and make their story true?

This was such a fun book to read! The characters were excellent and kept the reader laughing and cheering for them. Hayley is such a feisty female – she was quite good at handling the guys. This book has a great story line the reader can thoroughly enjoy! And there’s lots more going on! Grab your copy and hang on for a fun ride!

Hayley lost her parents in a war between prides years before. Her and her brother Jackson came back to claim their territory and rebuild a house and clan. Jackson has a human mate. Hayley is longing for one! Their brother Will is not around for some reason unknown to them. Marius comes to town and has taken a huge interest in Hayley. Hayley’s parents made a deal with another pride that if they helped in the war, they would give their daughter in exchange for an engagement to their son. Her parents were killed in that war and now they want recompense. The one thing that would break the contract is if she already has another mate. She asks Marius to pose as her mate. They do not believe it is authentic even though the two are in love with one another. Now, there is a challenge between her brother Will and the son of the other pride’s Alpha! Who will win? What will it cost everyone in the end? But Hayley has her own plans to interfere before that fight…what are her plans? I received this book via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.

Marius has caused nothing but troubles for the Jaynes family. He was part of a pack war that ended with the Jaynes parents being killed & their son Will injured. The last 2 Jaynes, Hayley & Jackson, also lost their pack lands in the war. Several years have past & the Jaynes are back reclaiming their land. Hayley gets a call from someone claiming to be her fiancee. She knows the only way to get out of marrying him that she's going to have to prove that she's in a relationship & mated to someone else. Her only option is Marius. There's an attraction, but she doesn't like him because of his part in terrorizing her brother's girlfriend (introduced in book 1--Wild Homecoming). She has to prove to herself that she's a responsible person & she eventually figures out how to do so.

The characters are all intriguing, and the second chance needed by all is the background of this story. Each character has their own unique personality & the world building is well thought out. You get a lot of action, some stalking & lots of steam between Hayley & Marius. Story ends with a HEA.
